  1. I don't think we should consider bridging to anybody anymore. We should look for the best third baseman possible and "if" Keith makes it figure out step two. No more assuming a minor leaguer will fill a future MLB position. When they actually make the team/MLB then fit them in via position change or trading them or someone to make them fit. Develop players the best we can but make them actually "beat out" an incumbent the the MLB level.

  2. This was built in Detroit. They build one floor at a time on the ground and then lift it up into place.

  3. The corpse of Evan Longoria is 37 years old. This is your idea of building a Tigers' playoff team for the future? No. He is not better than taking a chance on a Candy recovery year. Not at all.

  4. I lived in Winnipeg for a year, a long time ago, and if you were 100 yards from the intersection and the light turned yellow it meant "hit the gas pedal hard".

  5. The Lions didn't lose a game 29-0 because of one decision to go for it on 4th down vs kicking a FG. As much as you want to wish it into existence, Campbell isn't even close to being on the hot seat. He's sitting on a block of ice. Only thing that warms his seat is something external such as a racist tirade or multiple sexual assault allegations.

  8. Oh I will. It’s hard to live on hope, though. I wish I lived nearby and could go to games easily. When Scott treated me to a game three years ago it was just amazing to be around other Tiger fans. I’ve almost always been the only one I know. It was great to see the intergenerational love for the team among families with the parents and the kids wearing jerseys from different eras passing on the lore of the club. Seeing a happy 13 year old wearing a ‘60s road jersey really warmed my heart.

  9. schwartz went from 2-14 to 6-10 to 10-6. i think campbell will be afforded similar leeway if he gets to 5 or 6 wins this year. if theyre 3-14 he will definitely be on the hot seat going into year 3. who knows with a new owner? sheila made the initial mistake of keeping patricia and quinn instead of immediately cleaning house, so i would imagine she'll have patience with campbell/holmes.

  11. This is right where I was too. I was so tired I turned off scoring alerts on my phone. Having Adams calling the shots now gives me hope and has rejuvenated my enthusiasm.

  12. You may have heard that some dramatic changes were recently made in the organization, so come on back and try them again for another year.

  13. After living out of the region for almost the last 50 years — before the Internet era hit in stride — my ability to follow the team in earnest was spotty. When I discovered MTS in 2004 I followed the team minute by minute day by day no matter what. This year for the first time in 19 seasons I stopped following them. The team was like bad heroin laced with battery acid instead of good heroin that helped me take flight. This team was like waking up every morning and peeing broken glass into the toilet. Frequently before bed I would go “oh hey there was a game and I totally forgot“ and instead of following it assiduously in real time as before I would just look at maybe the box score or perhaps not even that. It takes a lot to wear me out and this team wore me out this year. The idea of more years of rebuilding futility makes me sad. Since so much unaccountable bad stuff happened this year next year has to be better but other teams are going to be better too so it makes me wonder if it’ll just be treading water, if that, again. Sigh…

  14. Why is everyone ripping Christopher Columbus? Was he mean to Macaulay Culkin and Daniel Radcliffe or something?

  15. I think he visited Puerto Rico, but your point stands. So often when we look at historical figures, we no longer look at them with rose colored glasses, but grade them based on how they would be viewed today. With Columbus, even in his own time his brutality was such an issue that he found himself in trouble.

  19. We went through something similar about a year ago. We bought a new couch from Lazy Boy, This was back in Mid October. Was told when we made the initial payment they had 1 in stock and at the warehouse. I even joked about driving to Monroe myself to pick it up. The hope was to have it by Thanksgiving (last year). No word at all from the store or company for about 3 weeks, so I called. Was told it would be sometime before mid December. I was at about DEFCON 4 but kept my temper. Christmas comes, no word. Another phone call. It was due to be MANUFACTURED in late January. What about the one in stock, sorry about that, can't give me a discount, contract states no refunds... The couch finally show up in mid March.
