I guess turning the game off when the Bears went up 24-10 was the wrong call.2 points

not watching the game - watching this thread. it's more fun.2 points

Yep...there are a lot of people who think the thought police are after them. And, maybe they are. The kids are better at this stuff. Although, i've seen a bit of kids using 'racism' as a jokehammer on each other. "You won't let me have the other reeses peanut butter cup? What are you racist? "2 points

so sick of watching our linebackers and defensive tackles get carried for five extra yards by a running back on every play.2 points

I think anti-wokeism is at least ten times the force that people imagine wokeism to be. The only reason the average person knows about wokeism at all is because of how much conservative media and certain comedians hammer it.2 points

The problem for guys like Reyes and Harold who are fairly average for utility guys is just that they need the roster spots because of the long term injured they have and utlity players are fairly fungible - you will be able to find them again later once you get your 60's back on the 60 and you've brought in the primarly pieces you have decided to pursue.2 points

I’ve been around since way before 2000. It was very much a conservative majority back in the day. 🙂2 points

Now, I’d like Warnock to be 51 , so that Sinema and Manchin lose their zing.2 points

If they can mercilessly cut such a key contributor, what hell awaits Matt Shepherd?2 points

I miss physical tickets. I love the convenience of only needing my phone but if you fork down the money upfront for a package you should get physical reminders too. I heard of some NFL teams going back to giving tickets.2 points

When they cut into this game and Minnesota converted that 4th and long, I never imagined it would be 30-30 heading to overtime.1 point

That's sort of what I thought... And that's OK... having a backup who is a competent backup and be able to do backup things is good enough... ... for a #4 RB. If Swift wasn't so breakable he could be a #3. JJ seems decent enough in the return game and catching the ball out of the backfield... so he has some usefulness methinks. But with Swift's porcelain running and health... that means we need another RB that could potentially take over as the bellcow/ gamebreaker. That's not Jamaal (tough yards) or JJ (solid backup only)... I'm thinking about the draft next year of course... 2nd to 5th round RB with speed & athleticism & (yikes! ... "Potential" !!!)1 point

Yeah, I’m with you on that to the degree that one’s politics is real to each person, and to anyone who believes wokeism is the biggest existential threat to the human race, it’s heart attack serious. But when it comes to the sum total of politics for everyone altogether, I think wokeism falls practically off the list of serious problems facing America.1 point

No doubt. A lot of how I look at this comes from growing up in one of the most conservative parts of Michigan, one with lack of diversity and relatively low-income as well. You don't know what you don't know... For me, it took going to college and having internships and co-ops in places like Los Angeles and Chicago to actually meet people who didn't look like me or were culturally different for me. And that's a tough learning curve... Not everyone can leave and get other experiences because they are simply working to make ends meet and put food on the table. Again, some things are too irredeemable to be forgiven. But we would all be better off (and the Dem Party would have more success) if supporters would acknowledge and recognize this and seek to educate before ostracizing/outcasting.1 point

i work in chicago, winning this game will benefit me very much.1 point

Brushcuts bitching about wokeism is not de facto proof of wokeism. BTW, love the term “brushcut” because that’s what my dad insisted we boys wear until I was at least 12.1 point

I think "wokism", "grooming", "CRT" "Socialism", are all just interchangeable shorthands for the people who don't like cultural change to hang a tag on what they feel they are against. The specifics of each term have some currency in the debates between the politically active, but probably don't signify much of anything to the rank and file right wing voter - other than that they are all samples from the same pot of stew they want no part of. The cultural values voter *feels* his cultural (or religious) bearings being eroded, the language is not meant for the precise service of argument but a charged one of emotion.1 point

That’s what I mean. I thought everyone could easily see the same guy I saw, but you’re right—they couldn’t. I’m talking about a lot of smart people, people ignorant of the depth of his history (e.g., mobsters) and the things he said and did (e.g., Central Park Five); people ignorant of the corrosive effect his fame had on people; and, frankly, people who wished to remain willingly ignorant, even ordinary people with mere slightly-above-average incomes, because they wanted some sweet minor tax cuts.1 point

If I were more skeptical or even cynical, I might conclude that so-called liberal mainstream media kept wishcasting a red wave through aggressive pro-Republican reporting because of how profitable it was for them the last time liberals were scared shitless a fascist government was thisclose to knocking on their doors.1 point

Oh My Goodness. Dave Chappelle just did 18 minutes at the start of SNL. It's the best socio-political commentary of anyone out there.1 point

I think it started with Rush Limbaugh..........and to a slightly lesser degree Newt Gingrich. Politics changed when they both started finding an audience. Trump just went "these go to eleven" with the volume of it.1 point

Independent since 1990. Due to hindsight review of Reagan and deciding he wasn't so terrible after all. Was extremely liberal in college before that... 95% still caucus with Dems. Not too many Republican votes but I've had a few. Including a key one I made in 2004 on ethical grounds that... I may have made a mistake on... Trump is a fucking pig. Scum. Lying POS who F's people over for a living. Corrupt/ amoral to his marrow. A fascist scumbag through and through. And he's been that way for over 40+ years. I hate him. I've always hated him. I will never NOT hate him. And he opened up Pandora's Fascist White Trash Bigoted Republicans Box. I'm in a fight to the death in trying to keep my Democracy and not have it MAGA-handed over to Trump's wannabe fascist dictatorship. Thank you everyone who voted against this POS and any of his lying fascist followers. As a white almost 60 y.o. male, I want to say a thank you to all the women, young kids, and POC that have helped save this country from Trump's fascism. A special kudos to ALL of you!!!1 point

People wondering who the add to protect from Rule 5 from Reese Olson, Austin Bergner, Wenceel Perez, Parker Meadows and Andre Lipcius. Like they don't have 5 cuts they can make. Lemme give you 5 names - Willi Castro, Zach Short, Brendon Davis, Mike Papierski and Sean Guenther. There you go. You could probably get most of them back with minor league contracts. Plus they don't have to keep Andy Ibanez or Kody Clemens. Wouldn't be shocked if they just cut Kyle Funkhouser too. When you win 66 games, cuts like this shouldn't be very difficult. What are we trading for Danny Jansen, anyway?1 point
