  1. Yeah I'm thinking that too now. This reply in the comments did make me chuckle though.

  2. People who throw groceries away when there is a power outage during a winter storm. Can't they just put the groceries in your garage or trunk of your car. A fridge is typically 35-40 degrees....most stuff will be fine. Take things that spoil and put them in a plastic bin with some snow in the bin.

  3. Definitely isn't a hill I'm worth dying on considering up until about 2 hours I was totally in yours, KL2 and most other people's camps about it being a waste of pick but just seeing how low the hit rate was for all players kinda made me reconsider the stance. I've now gone from thinking it was a wasted pick to being Ok with it under the right circumstances. For example taking Drew Stanton in the 2nd round when we had so many other glaring holes was not the right circumstance but if you're a team that has little holes and/or have a lot of draft capital it may turn out alright swinging for the fences.

  4. for even more context, when i said the eagles were going to be really good before the season i was mocked here. MOCKED! lol. eagles winning thr nfc east at +400 was almost as easy to pick as the bears under 6.5 wins. (pay no attention to that colts division winner bet...i dont know where that came from. must have been hacked that day.)

  10. Witherspoon was on next. He literally said, “I got that dawg in me.” I could see them going for Witherspoon at 18 but not six. PS: Your boy Charlie Campbell has Witherspoon slipping to the mid first due to size concerns. And that was before he wasn’t able to perform at the combine.

  11. Doesn’t that assume you will live longer? I’m going out at 62. Have known too many people that have died in the age range of 65-72 that I will probably retire at 62 if I can still maintain a decent lifestyle for 10 years. I figure anything after age 72 is gravy.

  13. I’m finding myself being drawn to more female vocalists than before. One of them coined it “chick fronted dad rock”. they just sound better to me.

  16. Oh my god, this is so thrilling to read. https://www.freep.com/story/sports/columnists/jeff-seidel/2023/02/26/detroit-tigers-top-secret-lab-giving-pitchers-new-tools-to-dominate/69942299007/ Check out what Chases Shreve says here: In January, after left-hander Chasen Shreve signed a minor league deal with the Tigers, with an invitation to major league spring training, he met with Hinch and pitching coach Chris Fetter. “We were talking about analytics and what they want me to do,” he said. And he found it so refreshing. “I've never really been on a team that told me how to use my analytical numbers,” he said. “Nobody's really ever been like, ‘Hey, this is what we think you should throw your fastball, your splitter and in what counts.” This is a guy who has nine MLB seasons behind him, as part of five organizations. “On the teams I’ve been on, nobody has ever been like, OK, this is analytically what we see and this is how you should pitch,” he said. “Nobody's ever said that to me until I got here. In our meeting, they were telling me what they thought, and I told them what I thought, and we were bouncing ideas off each other and I was like, ‘I've never done this, like, with a team before.’ ” He found it refreshing and encouraging. Think about that: here is a guy who spent a ton of time in the Braves’, Yankees’, Cardinals’, and Mets’ systems—all considered top tier systems—and here he is saying that no one told him how to use the numbers from analytics until he came to the Tigers this year. The Detroit Tigers, on the forefront of applied analytics. WOW! I never imagined I’d ever see something like that!

  17. Back in the 1990s when I was the Program Director of an alternative station called 92.1 The Edge in Lansing, I had a phone conversation with our consultant. While he was on hold he heard the Cranberries and Hole bqack-to-back. He absolutely flipped out. Why? Because I played two female vocalists back-to-back (I programmed the music). He was livid. I asked him if Dreams by the Cranberries was a hit. Yes. Is Doll Parts by Hole a hit. Yes. Then what's the problem and got furious and started saying some very insulting things to me. I'm not good at much, but I was a really good Music Director (I doubled as PD/MD). Another indication that rock radio was doomed because this consultant was a rock consultant and were an alternative station and he didn't get that listeners don't care about this stuff, not 90s listeners. Maybe it was big deal in the 70s when you had only Pat Benatar, Ann Wilson and Stevie Nicks (they didn't sound the same at all). He is the same kind of guy who told Sarah McLachlan that putting the Lilith Fair together would ruin her career. Sarah's probably still counting royalty money from that. Anyway, with International women's week coming up, Under The Radar Radio will, for the 3rd year, feature all female solo artists, all-female bands or bands with a female in a lead role (singer & writer). It's going to be a great playlist that won't sound any different than a normal show. There are a lot of women making some great music that don't look like some sort of Barbie doll. Pick of the Week is U.S. Girls new album Bless This Mess. It's a great album. We'll also have ne music from MIss Grit, Feist, Tennis, Caroline Rose, Momma, Ladytron, Boygenius and older songs from PJ Harvey, Jenny Lewis, Kate Bush, Bleached, Regina Spektor and more. 7 to 9 Sunday on annarbors107one.com (107.1) and thisisqmusic.com (94.5) in Grand Rapids.

  20. I have an HSA and like it. Basically whatever I was paying before for coverage now goes into the HSA and it grows. Whatever I need to pay comes out of that. Makes me feel more aware or things. Before things were “free” but at the end of the year I had nothing left.

  21. I think this is it. Instead of taking those pitches on the black that could be 50/50 try to poke it down the line or foul it off and hope pitcher misses location on the next one.

  23. Happy people, in my estimation, tend to be people who are okay with where they're at and who they are and they aren't always chasing it. It's rare to see people like that in this country where it is burned into your brain that if you aren't constantly chasing more you are lazy. Angry people (and those vulnerable to conspiracy theories) are ones that just aren't getting all they want or think they deserve and by god it's GOT to be someone else's fault. And it is, but not the people they're pointing at. It's okay to want a little more, it's what keeps us going, but some people want everything and they want it right now. People like that are NEVER happy. Anyone who throws how much they have or has to show off what they have - is pretty much miserable - because someone will always have more.
