The beauty of this is that this applies to either Castro. Hell it may even apply to Fidel for all I know...3 points

Wow I’m loving the pace already. Gonna be great with the the pitch clock. I think they nailed this one.2 points

To me like just about any other position it comes down to how you view him compared to what you could get later on in the draft. If they feel Bijan is head and shoulders better than any RB they could get in day 2 or 3 then I have no problem taking him at 6 even with the shorter shelf life of RBs. If you get 4-5 elite impactful years out of him where he helps take the offense to another level would anybody really care if he flames out after that and look back at the pick as being a waste?2 points

All I said was that without the vaccine we both might be dead. That is unequivocally true. Notice the word "might". We are both in our 70's. And I still don't get the strange reference to a "Democrat poll", but don't spend any more time on it.2 points

That's after the fact though. A sensible projection assumes that crazy stuff isn't going to happen and that players will perform somewhat in line with their past performance. In doing that, you are more likely to be correct than by making a wild ass prediction based on emotion. A wild prediction can be fun, but it's not an argument. If someone can explain why he or she thinks the Tigers will only win 58 games, it might might be a valid argument.2 points

I like the Jones signing because of reliability (something that Chark couldn't offer) and leadership especially for someone like Jamo who could really use a mentor. I do think he's a bit of a downgrade on Chark in terms of what he brings to the field at this point in his career mainly because Chark had more of an ability to separate and stretch the field but the hope is that Jamo becomes that big play threat. Either way, this is solid depth and a great guy for the locker room.2 points

Getting the vaccine and the boosters does make it less likely that you'll feel sick and less likely that you'll spread the virus.2 points

Castro can't draw a walk. You can't play on Harris' team if you can't draw a walk unless your Javy Baez and he's stuck with you. Also, he is terrible infielder and doesn't hit well enough to be an outfielder. Most years he doesn't hit enough to be anything.2 points

I said in another thread that we’ll be north of 75 wins, and I’m gonna stick with that.2 points

DCCC should collect a bunch of these screenshots, right here, and feature them on ads next year. They could probably do fifty different executions, easy.1 point

I feel like the negotiations with Jackson went: "I want $240 million fully guaranteed." "We can't give out a fully guaranteed contract." "Fine, make it $300 million with $240 million guaranteed."1 point

2019 is underrated as one of the most god-awful teams in baseball history.1 point

I would question it for similar reasons, but at the same time if the Marshall Faulk comparisons are what Holmes sees in Bijan, I wouldn’t fault him for just making the pick and flipping Swift for a late 2nd day or early 3rd day pick.1 point

I teach math. If you think understanding percentages and paying careful attention to the base (50% of people who are unvaccinated and get Covid get hospitalized vs. 50% of people hospitalized with Covid are unvaccinated) is in most American's wheelhouse you are mistaken. I wouldn't have been able to answer without a guess given those categories. I would have clearly thought below 10% but I would not have known without research how much below 10% it was.1 point

I expect a year of Churn and turnover. April to September will see a very different team as Harris continues to build better , younger depth throughout the system as he eyes 2025. Next years 26 will have a 40 % turnover from today. The rotation could have a 80 % turnover. So the roster changes will be interesting but makes it hard to win lots of games. Injuries could make it harder. Schoop won't last long, Lange-Rodriguez-Boyd-Turnbull and Haas are prime trade candidates by July deadline and Austin Meadows is a HUGH question mark. He might even retire or IL most of the year. Miggy will be part fun and part distraction. But some real positives will emerge ...Maton- Verling- Baez- Tork- Greene- will all perform. Carpenters power will maintain. The Bullpen will be much better than expected. And the returns Harris gets for the players he trades will be solid. The draft will be excellent. Parker Meadows will make the show and star and Badoo will return to stay long term. At the end of the day they will sit at 75 - 87 with a considerably brighter outlook for 2024. GO GET EM TIGERS !!1 point

It's a 45% difference....could be that Zadina matured early...that's part of why it's so hard to project the future with 18 year-olds. Every draft has its busts. I agree that Zadina has disappointed and seems to be a bust, but I tend to think his issues may be as much mental as anything else. Quinn Hughes or Evan Bouchard were guys that were talked about pre draft for the Wings. Had Zadina not fallen past the Habs, maybe we would have picked on e of them. Bouchard would be nice right now since he's bigger and a RHD..but Hughes is PPG guy who would def boost the PP1 point

I did. I said injuries will hit and be bad. I included Greene as one of those. I said the bullpen will be really bad. There’s very little track record of success there and maybe last years success in a similar situation was the anomaly. I said Maton, Vierling, and Meadows will all be failed projects. Schoop and Haase will disappoint. Baez and Tork won’t have significant lift to improve the team. I also think they get off to a very slow start and that makes it tough to build confidence right Maybe (and hopefully) none of this happens and they play closer to 75 or maybe even 80 than they do 60. Who knows but that’s how I’m looking at things now and that was the rationale on my mind when I predicted they only 56.1 point

he was drafted on the back of one international tournament when he played very well. he hasnt played at the level since, not in international, not in the ahl, and definitely not in the nhl. hindsight is 20/20 but he was obviously overdrafted and just isnt that good. he doesnt seem particularly big, he isnt that physical, and - most of all - he shoots the puck either wide or right at the goalie. he's just not that good and at this point, i dont think he ever will be. his contract isnt bad so you can keep him around and hope he gets healthy and lucky, but the odds of him sticking in the league in two years (or even next year) really arent that high. he's a 4th liner on the wings now and they have almost no really good scoring forwards. what happens if they trade for one and kasper/mazur show promise? zadina is out of here.1 point

There was an article in the Atlantic about a 6 year old boy that died from an accident. Anti Vaxxers found out he "had the jab" and made this family's life a living hell that would would have made the Alex Jones Sandy Hook deniers proud. These nutjobs are a danger to society. They've threatened my wife at work. Yes I take it personally. They can all go fuck themselves.1 point

Really they are gonna be 10 games worse than last year where the entire team was hurt and so dramatically underperformed their career norms? That seems unlikely1 point

I sometimes feel like Birkett likes to be the wet blanket and Debbie Downer to any Lions optimism from the fans so I wouldn't be surprised if he mocks Skoronski to the Lions just cause he knows that is the player that a good chunk of Lions fans probably want the least. Probably has them taken Mayer with the 18th pick as well just to crush their hopes even more.1 point

I blame gerrymandering for the current congress as much as anything else. If we had several multi member districts (or even ranked choice voting) things may be different. Right now the outcome is baked in before the votes.1 point

I jus saw an article that the Dodgers are giving a former player a $0 contract just so he keeps his health insurance. Bipolar and Schiziphrenia. Last played in 2018 and in 2020 was found living on the street.1 point
