FWIW, I don't think Javy Baez is at all unlikable. I think he's very likable. He's just frustratingly inconsistent on the field.3 points

Every day, AJ rolls out 7 or 8 of Al Avila's favorite players so Scott "Calculated Risk" Harris will have an opportunity to see if they really do suck. Narrator: they suck.2 points

Yes, Ilitch family ownership. People can complain about Chris, rightfully so. But let’s not pretend Mike’s era was all unicorn toots and rainbow ice cream.2 points

I haven’t been around here in quite a while because I don’t have much positive to say and I don’t want to be like the trolls I used to enjoy banning. But the negative comment I do have to share is that I was wondering how the Ilitch family cannot feel ashamed at what they’ve done to this team and I realize that as really really really rich kids they probably have a pretty thick skin about being disliked. I suppose that Mike as complicated and unsaint like as he most likely was, was at least capable of shame which made him care two shits instead of none.2 points

He already did during pick the stick for like 10 seconds. I felt awkward.2 points

As a multiple decade Tiger fan I admit my patience is worn out. I don’t like commenting negatively and I do like Scot Harris and support playing young players with potential but the clown show and blowouts have to stop. Yes only two games but they were really ugly and the tv crew is simply terrible. Alas I will be watching ..not listening…with fingers crossed. Or maybe it’s time to just listen to the radio.2 points

People want to keep making it about the racing thing when the real character concerns are showing up to the pro day fat and out of shape and not one of the top athletes in the draft.2 points
-
No, you don't draft him if he is immature, unfocused, unreliable and uncommitted, despite his physical talent.2 points

this is what happens when you recruit four and five star kids nowadays. they leave after one year. if you choose the kentucky route, you have to replenish your stock every year. if not, youre left with michigan's current roster. the ability to find trey burke and caris lavert and nik stauskas and develop them made john beilein a great coach. juwan hasnt shown he can do that. but this is the new reality, its not just michigan. players will decide where they want to go based on whatever reasons they want: money, playing time, etc. michigan will have to roll with the punches and start using the portal like everyone else is. its not a juwan-thing, its a college basketball thing. dickinson is a bit surprising, the other two are not. and given hunter's body language and the way the team played last year, we probably shouldnt be too surprised at him either. that one i put on juwan. bufkin and jett were always likely to leave.1 point

Well, I had at least one good experience from watching today's game. My old deer hunting pal from Marquette, Adam Hamari, was umping first base.1 point

If he’s the GOP candidate in the primary when it comes around to VA i might have to vote for him just on the Sergeant Hartman principle of “he’s silly and he’s ignorant; but he’s got guts; and guts is enough.”1 point

well, they do currently project to score 108 runs for the season. Would that be historicially bad?1 point

You're right, it's going to be hard to dig out of it, although to be fair, no one was expecting us to contend, anyway. This is more of a character-building year for everyone involved.1 point

This team is significantly more talented than 2003 or even 2019.1 point

They won’t be that bad, but the offense looks catastrophically horrendous. I thought they could win 75 games a week ago, but now I think 100 losses is definitely a possibility.1 point

Where analytics have failed—people trying to distract by identifying a silver lining out of exit velo, hard hit rate, BABIP, etc…. All great, but at the end of the day it’s about results.1 point

If you throw over twice, you might as well thow the third one and either give him the base or pick him off. EDIT: LOL _ as Chas just posted.....1 point

While they are showing pitching grips on the TV, I’ll be honest and admit to having a baseball in my office that (1) is soft enough to use as a stress ball and (2) I toy around with pitch grips during conference calls and whatnots.1 point

I think the other thing that works against Baez is that he has flair to his game. Flair doesn’t work well when the game isn’t going well.1 point

They are entering the late Don Zimmer into the Rays Hall of Fame. It took a while to clean up the mess on the field after they had 3 generations of Zimmers beating the shit out of a life size Pedro Martinez piñata.1 point

I agree with this. I just need more of a sample size to readjust priors... it's a 162 game season, not 17 like the NFL1 point

He was doing TV analysis during the first weekend of the NCAA tourney. I don't know what he said. All I could think of during the telecast was (1) this guy ruined the Pistons and (2) why am I sitting here listening to him?1 point

How does the ownership work with player movement from team to team? Do Durant and Irving still have stock in the Nets right now? How does that show up in the various trade machines? Is it possible Keith Van Horn signs a deal out of nowhere to get traded again?1 point

The sloppy play was not encouraging either. Maybe they can't hit but at least be able to catch and throw.1 point

I'm really disappointed in Monroe. I thought when they gave him his shot he might be decent - but it's like he's locked into a platitude phrase book - constant repetition of mostly poorly applied stock banalities. I can't listen to him. Scales on the other hand may have a ways to go but he's pretty natural and occasionally says something clever. There's potential for improvement.1 point

If everyone ignores the troll, he will get bored again and leave in a few weeks. Any reply to his memes and links just restarts the clock again.1 point

This is the first Tigers game that I have had the opportunity to watch this season. I'm starting to think that there is no point in suffering through any more.0 points

I just saw a clip of Sarah Langs and it was painful to watch. The brain is still fully there, but you see her struggling physically. She is one the best young analysts in the game and it's terrible to see her going throught the horror of ALS.0 points
