Not a surprise but Colt Keith was named Eastern League Player of the month after putting up like an 1.100 OPS with 6 HRS.2 points

In Aruba I saw a guy walking by in a Tigers hat. I said something and he clarifies, the D is for David, his name. He's a Phillies fan. So hopefully he's thinking about me this week.2 points

They are called Vignette ads. Its a new ad format that is becoming more common on websites. Sorry, but they help pay for the expense of running this website. From Google Adsense: Vignette ads are full-screen ads that appear between page loads. Vignettes are displayed when the user leaves a page, rather than when they arrive on one, so the user doesn’t have to wait for them to load. We (Google) limit the number of vignettes per user to maintain a good user experience.2 points

Rick Rizzs has an outside shot at making the broadcaster’s wing of the Hall of Fame. I kid you not.2 points

it was a quick mention, with Cody saying that he understood that this was always the plan relating to positional versatility1 point

I have a similar relationship like that with several restaurants here in Big Shoulders, and they all know me as John Smith, because my real first name sounds like two or three other real first names and they frequently get it wrong; and even worse, they frequently ask me to spell my very long real last name for the order. But nobody can screw up John Smith, and anyone who does, you might not want to trust them to make your food.1 point

My Sister/Brother-InLaw refuse to eat leftovers. After a meal they just throw whatever is left in the trash.1 point

Was an actual planned move mentioned? As in, we’ll have him in LF for a month or more… or are they thinking of him as a 3B, and want him to keep whatever LF skills he has from slipping? I can see value in letting a young player focus for extended periods at one position as a development goal, rather than the chess pieces idea. At least in the minors.1 point

Avila at least usually had a Hutchison, a Peralta, or a Leiter stashed at Toledo. Harris again doing lots of "observing." Sure hope he decides soon if this team sucks or not.1 point

A standard road bike jersey has 3 pockets in the back but they're pretty useless for anything heavier than some portable calories as if you put anything in them as heavy as a phone, the jersey then binds at your neck while you ride, which doesn't do. Ergo, the waist pack - which when on the bike is worn directly over the back, so 'lap' is hardly apropos. Just because lazy walkers wear them in front, I refuse to be bound by their semantics. 🚲1 point

While waiting in line for a Disney ride, my kids and I started counting "lap belts" and I can confirm that they are still widely used at amusement parks. I had one back in the day and loved the convenience but bowed to peer pressure and it went the way of my mullet. That said, no amount of mocking will ever make me stop wearing cargo shorts and bending the brim on my ball caps. Eat it junior.1 point

Cody Stavenhagen mentioned on the Turning the Corner podcast that Skubal tossed a bullpen to make up for the difference. He also mentioned that (his opinion) Colt Keith looks more comfortable defensively at 2B than 3B. Thinks its possible that he stays at Erie through the first half, and is then promoted to Toledo. I wish he'd have mentioned Justyn Henry-Malloy's move from 3B to LF, just for some context.1 point

I'm not a serious enough photographer to ever carry a full size SLR around anymore either, but I do have a small format SLR. It will go in a jacket pocket and I can carry the telephoto and extra battery for it in a fanny pack, which is about as much extra as I'm willing to carry.1 point

Skubal was through his 2ip in only 12 pitches. He threw more than that in his batting practice sessions. Maybe he tossed a few more in the pen after he left the game.1 point

This would be in the late 80s, early 90s. it could be long gone now. It comes up when I searched as Joe and Reno's pizza on Monroe Street. That may be what it was and got phone gamed.1 point

Man, talk about having to explain tech to young people. "You see... we had 36 chances to take pictures on vacation. You didn't know if it worked. You just pushed the button and hoped for the best. Then when you get home you take this thing out of your camera, very carefully so that you don't ruin it, and give it to the guy at this kiosk in the parking lot. In a few days you go back and finally you can see your vacation pictures. Yeah he can see them too. I guess he could make copies... why?" In a sense there was something cool about being able to 'relive' your vacation or special moments after the fact by finally seeing the pictures. I'd also argue that there's a skill in brevity, meaning you only had the limits of the film to get it right so you tried harder. I just got back from vacation and often have 3 or 4 shots of the same thing, just in case. That leads to laziness. Then there's my pictures and my wife's pictures...1 point

Rick Rizz is good. He had the misfortune of following a legend who was forced out by some dirty dealing by someone at WJR, who was smart enough to wait a couple years before taking the gig because the one who followed Ernie would be unfairly treated.1 point

Hmmm, that's the first that I heard that about Briggs. My dad and my uncle took my brother and I to our first Tigers game when I was six years old. That was 69 years ago at Briggs Stadium.1 point

Come on down to Sonic Bliss......squash is on sale.1 point

I'd be happy if it just went to being called Meijer Park. Much rather have it be named after a Michigan tradition than a bank. If corporations weren't able to sponsor anymore, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Tiger Stadium again.1 point

I thought the other interesting thing I didn't see any trace of in Alberta's reporting was any talk about *news gathering*. If he wants to be the trusted source, at least some of the effort has to be redirected into simply being a better news source. Licht may not believe it but despite that it may be true they spend too much time at 'level 11', I think MSNBC has done a better job as a news source than CNN. In recent years MSNBC has had people in the field like Richard Engel that are head and shoulders above CNN's staff.1 point

Time for my humble brag, in High School I got to face Drew Henson, at the time he was like the most heavily scouted kid in the area and would always draw big crowds. Anyway after embarrassing me and my entire team(I think we had 1 hit at this point) I came up for the 3rd time. I cheated so much cause that was the only way I could catch up to his 90 some mph fastball(I don't think I seen anything more than 80 before him) and I got lucky and even though I was still late the ball found my bat and probably due to his velo I laced one just inside the 1st base foul line and I guess I flipped the bat even though I didn't realize it. I got to 2nd base and their SS was like "Dude I can't believe you just flipped the bat on Drew Henson, you better hope you don't get another at bat" and lucky for me I didn't. K that's my "Al Bundy" High School sports story for the day. lol1 point

I put together an indie and alt-country musical start kit on Spotify. Sharing again for anyone that is interested in the country/alt country/indie country/americana/folk/bluegrass/folkgrass stuff like I am. If you are looking for new artists to get into that fit into these genres or just looking to get into something new in general maybe this will help you start your journey. I got started on my journey thanks to blogs and review sites like Country Universe, My Kind of Country, and Saving Country Music and want to share my love of this type of music with the world.1 point

Well I did it: I now own a Tele. I don’t think I’d ever find one I liked and, through a series of trades, I found one I really like and now it’s on the wall. I doubt I’ll ever use it live but it’s a fun and attractive tool in the arsenal. Road worn GC exclusive MIM. Nice chunky neck. Dude who I got it from put a hot rails in the bridge but I’m going to put it back to stock.1 point
