People have been telling me for years how brilliant Musk is. I never paid attention to him until he paid too much money for Twitter and tried to turn it into a far right forum. He seems to be not as bright as people say and also a huge dickbag.2 points

And John Davidson as President, in his second stint with Columbus. Over his time with the Blues, Rangers and Jackets, what good has he ever accomplished. He should have just stuck with the broadcast booth, where he was great. I'm not comparing him to Matt Millen ... but maybe I am.2 points

Tooting my local horn! If you have not had a chance to check it out, Parkview Field in Fort Wayne, IN (High-A San Diego Padres) is ranked best ballpark experience for the second year in a row. It really has the feel of a big league park with all the amenities you look for. Tons of bars, resaurants and hotels within walking distants of park. LMCU was ranked 17th out of 30 as well. https://www.stadiumjourney.com/stadiums/stadium-journey-high-a-ballpark-rankings-20232 points

A definite positive of being one of the most irrelevant franchises in all of pro sports is that Jarmo doesn’t get nearly as much heat as he should for being one of the worst GM’s alive.2 points

There was too much emphasis on leaving Seattle without any time on the clock and not enough on scoring a TD. This was critical error in judgement. Coaching didn’t lose this game but better coaching decisions at the end probably win it.2 points

They managed the clock fine. They ran out of downs, not time.2 points

If they win next week, they are 2-1 after 3 games, which is a number that everyone would’ve been happy with at the start of the season.1 point

the falcons are not a good team. theyre in the mushy middle with everyone else (including detroit) but desmond ridder is their qb and hhe's not very good even though he has three very highly skilled position players on his team. but he can run. we'll see what the lions can do with that. a lions loss will very much be SOL. i suspect the line drops from lions -5.5 (same as seattle), but i bet it drops a bit before sunday. then packers on the road...1 point

In '06 I really think the layoff got to them. They played sloppy which makes me think it's timing and the day to day nature of baseball. They didn't hit in game 1, won game 2, got shut down by Carpenter in game 3, should have won game 4, and were competitive in game 5. In '12 they didn't hit. Outside of game 1 every game was very close. They had guys on base in key moments. In '13 Papi's slam was the big moment but they lost game 3 by a solo HR. Won game 4. Played like crap in game 5. Had the lead late in game 6. Conversely Boston could also say "Hey we lost game 1 by a single run" Its not a stretch to think they could have won back to back in 2013. But these teams were also not as good as we might look back and think. They never had home field b/c of a better record.1 point

I can't believe the CBJ GM still has a job, what exactly has he accomplished across his ~10 year tenure and now this?1 point

Some positives from yesterday: LaPorta looked like a beast. Love the toughness. He’s in a different mold than Hockenson. I can’t wait to see more of him. Josh Reynolds was awesome. Not sure he can keep that level of play but he was a weapon. Cam Sutton looked like the top corner than we brought him into become. Once Moseley gets back this will be a great duo. David Montgomery was also as advertised. The fumble was bad but everything else he did was tough running. The offense showed for a while without him in there. ASB continues to be such a stud. The definition of grit and toughness on the team. Tough game to lose but this is what Pete Carroll does. He’s been making in game adjustments and out coaching people going on 40 years now. He doesn’t get enough credit for how good he is in game. He just knows how to flip the switch at halftime and get his team going in the right direction.1 point

If they lose this game I think all of Detroit the surround Southeast Michigan area will be right back on the SOL bandwagon. I'll be curious to see how this defense, specifically their front 4-7, responds playing this week against their third straight mobile QB. Will McNeill, Levi, Okwara, or Cominsky step up to help out Hutch? Will Atlanta's OLine just double team Hutch and neutralize our ability to get pressure if no one else steps up? Not having any pass rush whatsoever and only rushing 3 or 4 is one of the things, among many others, that killed Patricia's defensive scheme. I'm not saying Glenn is Patricia when it comes to being a defensive coach, but the lack of blitzing and the packages he's sending, continually rushing only a base 4, gives me concern.1 point

Does Fetterman go on the Senate Floor and talk about how people who wear hoodies are bad and we need to keep them out of public life and not let our libraries and schools refer to them?1 point

Aaron Glenn's speciality is supposed to be the secondary given that's what he played in the NFL. But even with the secondary being inconsistent and struggling at times, having zero pass rush with no QB pressure is really difficult to overcome. When a QB and offense get 4-5-6+ seconds to let plays develop and receivers get that kind of time to get open it puts the secondary in a tough position. You can only ask the secondary to hold tight coverage for so long. And against a mobile QB who can extend plays in and out of the pocket that makes things harder. The opposing QB doesn't fear our pass rush because Glenn continually rushes only 4, doesn't gets no push from the interior, and doesn't have a talent on the field besides Hutch that represents any serious threat.1 point

If not for the two turnovers that led to quick TD's, the Lions win this easily. Clean up the mistakes and figure out the pass defense and we'll be fine.1 point

I just rewatched that last drive and it wasn't clock management. They had plenty of time to score but couldn't get the first down. They let like 20 second run off before kicking the FG.1 point

The run defense is improved, the pass defense is as porous as it's ever been. They got extremely lucky against the Chiefs last week because the stats don't tell the story of that game at all because the receivers couldn't make basic catches and even the Branch INT was an easy catch that went off the receivers hands straight into Branch's. The defense improved last year partly because of the easier second half schedule. They faced Philly, Seattle, Miami, Minnesota and Dallas in the first half. The second half of the schedule was a steady dose of NFC North opponents that struggled offensively in Chicago and Green Bay and the NY teams that were below average offensively, Carolina was a weak offense but destroyed the Lions. The one legit offense in Minnesota tore them up. They did play well against Buffalo, but in general I think the schedule had more to do with the improvement than scheme. If you watch the defense closely, you see guys moving around looking confused, guys out of position a lot and teams exploiting their weaknesses constantly with little to no adjustments (why Glenn refused to blitz in this game outside of a few instances is beyond me). Glenn is a problem and I just hope he figures it out before it sinks the team. Good thing is that the offense looks like they can score on anybody and hopefully that continues because they'll need to to overcome this defense.1 point

I wouldn’t take anything for granted against the A’s. They’ve been a better team as of late.1 point

Sam LaPorta needs to be a bigger part of the offense going forward, and Gibbs needs to step up and be the game breaking weapon that Holmes promised he'd be when he passed on Jalen Carter.1 point

Knocked back to reality a bit, I think Seattle's obituary was way too prematurely written after their loss last week and the Lions were crowned way too prematurely after their very fortunate (lets be honest) win last week against the SB champs. It's too early to really know anything. It was two toss up games against two good teams so I think 1-1 is fair marks for where they should be right now and I think most of us would have taken it. I do think Montgomery being out for any length of time is a major blow and they need Amon Ra to be healthy, those were my two big takeaways from this game. I also don't trust a Glenn led defense one bit going forward so the offense will have to be great every week if they want to win games.1 point

I mean naturally after a loss you're not going to be as optimistic as you were before the game but my feelings about the team are no different than they were this morning. I still think they are the best team in the division and in that 2nd tier in the conference behind Philly, SF and possibly Dallas. Basically they are a good team but flawed team but considering the division and conference in general that may be good enough to make a deep run in the playoffs if things break your way.1 point

The Rams after dominating the Seahawks last week are currently hanging tough with the 49ers 10-10 late in the 2nd quarter. Perhaps people(myself included) wrote the franchise off too early after the injury laden bad season last year. Maybe with a healthy Stafford they are still a legit threat in the NFC.1 point

losing a game is one thing, getting dominated up front by seattle's backup offensive line and getting picked apart AGAIN by geno smith is another. to me this raises real questions about everyone on that dline. our vaunted "dline depth" doesnt mean **** if 1) they are hurt every week (j okwara, levi, paschal), or 2) you have a bunch of guys are just ok. the fact that you have A LOT of guys who are just ok isnt optimal. they need more than hutch. and they had a chance for two star players and they decided to draft a third down back instead. calijah kancey was there at 18 and they drafted a linebacker. this is on brad holmes and aaron glenn.1 point

The government shutdowns have got to stop. The correct answer is to actually shut down the government next time and not do ANYTHING until the budget is approved. No SS checks. No government payment to keep hospitals in rural america open. No F-22s flying over the Taiwan strait. No missile silos manned. No Post Offices in bumflurg, redstate USA. NADA. The government is too big you say?1 point

I'll grant that funny is subjective, but also, this seems very personal for you. I really don't want to get into a public spat here. If I upset you so, then my counsel to you would be to put me on ignore. To do so, go to your own profile by clicking on your screen name next to your avatar, top right of every page. Choose "Ignored Users". Once there, in the box under "Add new user to ignore list", type "chas" and my icon should pop right up. Click on that, and you'll see three box choices: posts, messages, and mentions. Choose any or all that suit you and click Add User. That should do it. Or don't do so, as you see fit. Either way, take care and best of everything to you.0 points
