  1. I think this debacle is a predictable result of gerrymandering yourselves super conservative districts.

  2. I was surprised by NJ’s speed and overall talent. I guess I shouldn’t have been, given their breakthrough last season, but perhaps I was thinking they had overperformed. Jack Hughes is the real deal.

  3. GQP does not stand for anything; they are the party of no; they are destroyers; when asked to build anything, do anything, they can't because "government is bad"

  4. TBF, you can get a Parliamentary system's panties in a bunch as well spending weeks trying to form coalition governments when no outright majority prevails. But Ronz is more correct than not, the mess in Washington is just a symptom of a generalized decay of the fundamental social contract in the US. Enough people today believe the system is broken enough that they've stopping caring if it's cared for. Their problem is their lack of imagination about how much worse their lives will get once they decide that expending the effort to fix what they have isn't worth their time to them.

  6. Allyson Footer for the Astros I think. Melanie Newman is a backup announcer for the Orioles, and a full-time job would be an promotion for her. I know absolutely nothing about Siera Santos, but she did several games for MLBN this year, which tends to be a feeder to these types of jobs. Beth Mowins was mentioned, but she has done some baseball as a backup for the Cubs, I believe.

  7. There was a woman who did a couple of games with Dickerson during the summer who I thought was very good. I can't remember her name, but I think she was a writer for the Astros or Rangers. Walden would be a cheer leader like Monroe and would not add any useful analysis.

  8. I liked Casty when he was a Tiger, I liked him when he was a Red, and I like him on the Phillies. Just something about him clicks with me, and makes me appreciate him as a player and a person. Here he is explaining why Scooby Do is his favorite superhero. 🤣

  9. I need LaPorta to play. He's my TE on my FF team. I already benched Gibbs. And St. Brown.

  10. If we trade Skubal I want a player that has established themselves in the major leagues. We are too thin to lose our star arm for "potential" that doesn't work out. Just sign Yamamoto and add him with Skubal and Jobe in 2025.

  11. Scoot had a good game last night. So of course everyone is saying he is the next great player. Until he has a bad game tomorrow and the same people call him the biggest bust ever.

  12. Probably not, but nobody is untouchable in the right deal. Skubal is really good, but also a significant injury risk. Of course, other teams understand that about them which might limit what the Tigers could get in a deal. Thus, it would probably be best to keep him. I just don't like to say "never".

  13. One thing I would definitely like to see is for them to eliminate divisions. Make the schedules as balanced as possible and just take the top 6 teams (or however many teams the televison networks think are necessary) in each league. There is no need for all the wildcard nonsense unless the schedules are unbalanced.

  14. It's something Bill James came up with a long time ago based on the assumption that all teams are equal with every game having a 50% probaility of a win for each team.

  17. America was, is and will always be based on a “gentlemen's agreement." For over 200 years there were gentlemen – and gentlewomen - and there was an America. Now, that there are no longer any gentlemen, there is no agreement and thus no America.

  18. I want the Phillies to win this series but find it impossible to root for Kimbrel, who continues to look like a douche before every pitch.

  21. Folks, poke around the twitter follows for Mike Ferrin. A lot of Tigers people who don't follow a lot of outsiders follow him and not many other national announcers. Reading the tea leaves... I could see his series with Dickerson turning a lot of heads. He did a great job that weekend, maybe was brought in for a reason.

  22. It's worth pointing out, be careful sharing tweets on this topic. A lot of false information out there.

  24. I was a bit Devil's Advocatey with Avila, defending some things. For example, there is ample evidence the 2017 trades were ownership mandated salary dumps. And inheriting a non-existent analytics department at the time mountains of new data were becoming available was pretty bad timing. It is pretty clear he wasn't the person to lead a modern baseball organization, though. May have been an okay GM in the 80's/early 90's when a baseball front office was 10 people, tops. It is clear putting all the pieces together was not up his alley.
