Interesting... they have PLANNED to grow opposition against Jordan with every vote (it's going to get worse for him and his candidacy for Speaker is DOOMED): As Jordan preps for another ballot for House speaker Thursday at noon, his Republican opponents warn that he will only continue to bleed more votes, revealing to CNN’s Melanie Zanona that they have been staggering their “no” votes against Jordan to illustrate growing opposition.3 points

A quick history lesson: The Jews are all FROM ISRAEL. For thousands of years they ruled that land. They had the balls to fight the Roman Empire. They obviously lost. And the Romans kicked them out in the year 135. As far as I am concerned, Jews returning to Israel are reclaiming the land that was stolen from them 1,800 years earlier, after they had held that land for generation after generation.2 points

No offense but I'll defer to what apartheid actually means. The fact that Arabs are given equal rights to vote, serve in public office, serve in the military and work/travel alongside the Jews negates this. I'm not saying Israel is perfect in anything just as there are no perfect people. However calling modern day Israel pro-apartheid is the grandaddy of all misnomers.2 points

I don't know where this is being discussed but today I see an airstrike on a hospital in Gaza and seeing multiple tweets saying it's Israel's bomb and others saying it's from Hamas... misinformation is king now and we've reached the consequences of a post Jan 6 fake news world. Nobody will believe anything that isn't on "their side" and no matter what footage or statements show minds will not be changed. Such a dangerious time now. I have no idea what the truth is because I can't study and research... twitter used to be of some use but now it's not reliable. Everyone is stuck in their bubbles. Not both sidesing this at all because it really is confusing to me. The extremes on both sides have it in for Israel, for different reasons I guess, and the middle who support Israel, as I tend to do, are probably guilty of the same. If Hamas did it, then it's business as usual for them. If Israel did it then they need to be more careful and just take the L if if the alternative means more civilian casualties. There's supposed to be rules of war. You can't take down an entire region, just like we couldn't and shouldn't have after 9/11, even though at the time I suggested just nuking the whole middle east and starting over. Emotions run high but cooler heads are required by those with actual decision making power.2 points

Western leaders have always recognized the aggressive expansion of Israel for exactly what it was. They just never dared to say so out of fear of offending wealthy political donors.1 point

I wouldn't call this the same fashion of tribalism though. Not at all. The far right are fascists. This kind of tribalism is more akin to the Russian invasion of Ukraine: I have a boatload of Russian friends here in Jersey. And a boatload of Ukrainian friends. Some who are even both Russian AND Ukrainian (ex-wife for starters). The Russian contingent was wrapped up in their own world (listening to Russian radio and TV on cable, etc.; and therefore wrapped up in Putin's propaganda world...); when Russia invaded in 2014 all my Russian friends said to my Ukrainian friends "We're going to SAVE you from the EVIL WEST!!!"; and all my Ukrainian friends responded with "GET THE **** OUT OF OUR COUNTRY!!!". A lot of hurt feelings/ friendships since that time. This isn't left or right, even if it is politicians also engaging, with most of them on the left. It's just not the same. It's a different kind of tribalism. I mean, how can you say "LEFT" when most Jewish-Americans (not all, by far) vote Democrat? It just doesn't make sense to say "It's the far left" when it's NOT.1 point

Tiger fans on 25-year-old Matt Manning: Get rid of him, he's reached his peak. He sucks. Tiger fans on 25 year old Gibson long after 4 games: This guy is solid. Big part of the future1 point

The Lions really are America's team this year. Every YouTube clip of the Lions is filled with comments from other team's fanbases saying they're rooting for the Lions this year. If they make the SB, I think the whole country will be rooting for them. Is somewhat the Underdog story, and I think DC has a lot to do with it also. People love that guy.1 point

I don’t really understand what their alternative solution is. If a guy gets caught from behind, is the defender supposed to just hold him there in position until someone else can tackle him from the front? He’s still defenseless in that scenario. Jump on top and get carried for a ride? That’s not tackling. Or are they supposed to clip them, and just make the tackle low from behind? That’s likely more dangerous that the hip drop. I’m not surprised that tackles from behind are more injurious than tackles from the front, but I think any further rule change there would require substantial change in the way football is played.1 point

Manning tends to be as good as his fastball is on any given outing and his mechanics were not consistent from start to start last season so his fast ball was up and down. There was a pretty good inverse correlation between his velocity and his results. If he ever gets a chance to pitch more regularly, and his ability to access more consistent velocity straightens out, I think you will see a more consistent pitcher. And sure he might not, but if a guy has shown he has the arm to throw hard at least half the time do you really want to bet that another team isn't going to unlock that as soon as you move him? It's a much more straightforward task than fixing a bad breaking ball.1 point

The last 24 hours on this story is a good reminder that maybe we should wait for some actual corroboration before jumping to conclusions or taking Hamas at their word. Is that too much to ask for?1 point

the Dec 10th game in Chicago will be a home game for the Lions; it won't just be a significant percentage (30-40%), but the majority of the fans 60%+ will be Lions fans.1 point

Unfortunately all of this sports coverage on these network shows has become a series of 'performances', posturing in front of the big screen, and yelling. Have you ever seen Orlovsky and Ryan Clark breakdown plays? It's painful. For me watchable only in small doses.1 point

The article I read ( I believe it was from the Daily Beast) included this passage: ”… This may violate Judge Arthur Engoron’s gag order, which prohibits Trump from attacking court staffers involved in his New York financial fraud case. While James is not a staffer, she is central to the indictment. …”1 point

The fact that this piece of garbage is even thus close to becoming House Speaker, and thereby putting him third in line for the presidency behind the vice president, it’s horrifying. He would absolutely, given the opportunity, in the 2024 election, refuse to certify the votes for the Democratic opponent. This is a travesty that he’s even this close. The man’s a f’ing Traitor.1 point

Speaking of skilled up front...that pass Veleno made late in the third into the slot that got banged off the post by,,,Compher...maybe...was possibly the pass of the night. There's a noticeable difference in our depth this season..and we play with a bit more of an edge. REALLY looking forward to that Ottawa game this Saturday. We'll see how much running around Tkaczuk does with Kostin, Ras and Fischer out there1 point
