"Tigers Showing “Serious” Interest In Kenta Maeda" https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/tigers-rumors-serious-interest-kenta-maeda-free-agent.html Finally serious after wasting everyone's time all these years. Harris told them make sure you put serious in the headline.4 points

Here's how Biden has destroyed the economy Signed an infrastructure bill to repair our roads, waterways, bridges and railroads, and bring high-speed internet to rural communities. · Signed the Inflation Reduction Act, making health insurance plans more affordable, lowering drug costs. · Signed the CHIPS and Science Act, providing funding to produce semiconductor chips in the U.S.A. · Traveled to war zones, and brought the USA back to the global table as a strong respected partner and leader. · For addressing climate change his administration has provided millions to reduce greenhouse emissions and promote clean energy technologies, moving our country to greater self-sufficiency in energy production. · Oversaw the passage of landmark gun legislation; though not nearly enough; the bill is the first major federal firearms legislation since the 1990s, and a significant step forward. · He arranged to have certain student loans forgiven and is still working to do more. · After a very difficult global economic period, inflation is going down, and hourly wage increases exceeded inflation for the first time in two years this past summer. What did Trump or any other sitting Republican do in the past 2 plus years (2021 to today) that helped the average American, not the Oligarch Class3 points

It's a negotiation, one side usually starts high, the other low, both are serious, neither are reflective of the actual worth, the market dictates that.2 points

So, I'm driving into the facility where I work. Its drizzling and cold. I have U-M plates on my car. Security guard checks my badge and drops a "Go Buckeyes" on me. I just sort of nod at him and grin. Under my grin is the satisfaction that I'm in my car driving into a heated building to work and his OSU degree (of course he doesn't have a degree) got him a job in the sleet.2 points

You realize chas, that this entire offseason that EVERY potential free agent offer will be questioned as to whether it was serious or not... (IE: $240 mill/ 10 years offer to Yamamoto.... WAIT!!! Is that a serious offer?)1 point

Sad news about Willie. Always will hold special those memories from that season. He was treated very unfairly by fans soon after IMO.1 point

i actually think the defense wasnt all that awful against the bears. only 26 points allowed with 4 turnovers by the offense - some in plus territory - isnt that bad. the lack of pass rush is still a concern. jerry jacobs at corner is a continued concern. jack campbell getting lost in coverage is still a concern. but that is what it is. that's a talent issue not a scheme issue. they should beat the packers. they actually really need to beat them given the vikings' upcoming schedule.1 point

When I was down at Lakeland watching an interview session from out in the hall of a hotel, I heard quite a few conversations and saw some funny stuff. Gary Pettis was going to be interviewed and he walked by us with a beautiful blonde on his arm. As Pettis was being interviewed Hernandez started chatting it up with his girl friend. Pettis saw what was going on and was visibly annoyed. Hernandez feigned innocence, gave a hands off gesture and smiled.1 point

The Giants let that deal die due to a measly health examination...? Then they were NOT SERIOUS!!!1 point

The Rams have a shot of getting the 7th seed. Their schedule is easier than Seattle's and they hold the tiebreaker with Seattle. I hope Seattle's playoff hopes hinges on Minnesota beating Detroit and the Lions win knocking them out. We helped those bitches out last year and they did nothing to return the favor. Ungrateful.1 point

Thank goodness for that. Willie Horton was (and still is) my favorite Tiger from the very beginning in 1968. He was also my first coach on my Tigers fantasy camp team in 2007, and I would—I will—be shattered should he die. He's one of the last remaining strong links to my childhood. I hope he outlives me.1 point

if I know a guy, let's call him Rasheed, and he wears a NYY hat, gets very excited when the NYY slaughter another team, cries when the NYY lose, despises the Red Sox, and agrees with every decision the NYY make, no matter how barbaric, can't I just assume he is a NYY fan, even if he never has the guts to publicly admit it?1 point

that article is the usual JEIII list of excuses for Weaver. when he writes anything that is even mildly critical of weaver, let me know. the only time i've ever heard him criticize weaver was a very mild criticism that the bagley contract was a bit of an overpay. nary a criticism of bey while he was here, and nary a criticism of the weisman return for bey. nothing on how monumentally bad this team has been for four straight seasons. just lots of stuff on how great stewart is, how cade is the best, blah blah blah. not one article on how this team doesnt work around cade. just one excuse after another for a gm with the worst record of all time. i expect the team to be mildly better if morris and bogey ever get healthy. if they dont, that will be the excuse. if they do come back and the pistons are more competitive but still losing, it will be "they're on the right track." more bs from the pistons media department, aka the beat writers.1 point

I've reached the age where I can only take so much of the turnpikes, they're great if you need to be somewhere quickly. After years of dealing with the paid highways in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, there are times where you just need to slow down and enjoy the back roads for a while.1 point

I thought the OH turnpike and the NY toll roads were well maintained. In NY they are building new plazas and do a good job telling you how far away the next one was and what they had. I'm a stopper. I don't like to drive more than an hour without it. I like toll roads and turnpikes because traffic is lighter and they have those. I can get out, use the rest room, fill up my water, get a snack or coffee if needed and get just enough of a stretch by that walk to and from. It only takes a few minutes and since they are right there you don't lose much time.1 point

This. Now a team can’t sign Turnbull and freely assign him to their minor leagues without rostering and waiver implications. Plus he creates distractions in the clubhouse with his me-first jerking around. He was more trouble than he was worth, and Harris couldn’t find another team to take him in trade. The Tigers are trying to remake their culture and that kind of guy, like Eduardo before him, doesn’t fit into that. Maybe there’s a team somewhere that will put up with that kind of thing from a slight talent like Turnbull, or is too clueless to know about it. That team might be in Asia, and maybe not even Japan. Turnbull won the battle, but he’s probably going to lose the war.1 point

Chiefs need an elite QB like Goff who can carry a team on his back and bring them back from being down two TDs with under 4 minutes in the game.1 point

I don’t know…. I think this makes him less attractive of a signing.1 point

A big bust, but not even as big of a bust as the guy picked right after him in the draft, Trey Lance.1 point

That’s funny! I drive within a few miles of their “tomato” greenhouse in Ohio well before sunrise. Same effect down here. Thanks for posting.1 point

The Bears averaged 4.7 yards per play. That is below their season average. They had 11 drives and only scored two TDs and five scores overall. The Bears had four 1st downs from penalties. They had 334 yards of offense. The defense wasn't that bad. Turning the ball over 4 times resulted in 71 offensive plays by the Bears and good field position for the Bears.1 point

I think it goes even before this season. I think Holmes (and Campbell to a lesser degree) presented a “plan” to their contracts, which were longer than most first-time GMs and HCs receive. I think Holmes in particular told Sheila, Speilman, and Wood something like “look we are going to suck in 2021. This roster is trash and we need to burn it down to build from the ashes. In 2022, you should see some progress. By 2023, we hope to compete for the division. By 2024 and beyond, we should be competing for championships.”1 point

Hard to say for sure. I mean the whole appeal of a running QB is that it makes it harder for a defense so we should expect to running QBs to be harder to defend in general. That said, how much of the much harder for our defense to handle is due to poor scheme or inability to our players to execute correctly? The reality is that it's both, but which is a bigger issue? I'd lean towards scheme, but again I don't know for sure.1 point

I just love that Bears fans came in fully expecting to lose, lost, but managed to lose in such a fashion as to completely devastate the fanbase anyway. It’s got a Lionesque artistic quality to it.1 point

Israel is absolutely wrong for doing stuff like that. It's one thing to claim that you need to occupy certain areas for the security of your own lands, but when you start evicting residents and moving your own people in, it becomes obvious what your true intent is. The USA and other countries need to do better in calling it out. That said, lets not use that in a way that it tries to excuse the actions of Hamas. Hamas doesn't give a damn about the Palestine people and is not fighting Israel in the name of people who have been unjustly evicted from their homes. It wouldn't matter if there were a "two state solution" with both sides living in peace, there would still be groups like Hamas trying to wipe out Israel.1 point
