  1. I’m paying $800 for a ticket to the NFC Championship game. Cause I can’t bring myself to pay this for the Superbowl

  2. She also said she was going to pardon Trump, so screw her. She might be less crazy but she is still enabling the crazy. When she drops out of the race in a few weeks, she'll throw all her support his way.

  3. And I want the coaching staff to realize they got away with a break, can't rely on any unwritten code, and correct it so that going forward they snap the ball at the last second until it is mathematically impossible for there to be time for another play. Surely of all the staff a team has on the sidelines and in the booth, there should be one who is feeding real-time information about time management.

  4. As long as you aren't spending the milk money.... you won't miss this money in 3 years but the memories will be with you no matter what happens. Do it. During the 2006 Tigers run I had to drop like $1600 for my playoff tickets. To off set the cost I sold the 2nd game of both the LCS and WS. So yeah.... for $120 I missed Magglio's HR. That kind of thing will never happen again to me because of money.

  5. There is no code that Bowles couldn't take the timeout on 1st down. I think it would be bush league to signal you are conceding and then say just kidding.

  8. Now, now, everybody deserves 8th chances. Maybe the Packers, Bears, or Vikings will need someone?

  9. This is why I think these games and this run is the biggest sporting thing ever for the city and state. It already tops anything in other sports. You guys are all living it and experiencing something that might not be topped. Even if they win it all in another year. Sometimes the ride up is more fun. kind of like if the Tigers won in 2012 or 2013 it still may not have been more exciting for me than 2006. Maybe I am over reacting since it’s been 10 years since we’ve had anything to cheer

  10. Go for it. I bought my non-refundable air ticket last Wednesday (Campbell's gambling approach has inspired me, lol, plus it was only $275) and then Sunday night I bought a 200-level endzone seat for $650 TM-listed + $100 taxes/fees = $750. I think ticket prices have peaked, they've softened a bit since Sunday night and will some more, IMO. Flying in Sunday morning direct 2h20min flight from Vancouver, then back Monday morning. Staying Sunday night in an airport hotel, for approx. $175. Add some incidentals like transport to/from the airport and the stadium and should still be under $1,500. Not cheap, but acceptable. At this stage of my life (56 years old, our only child leaving home in the fall), it's how I prefer to spend money, as opposed say to a weekend in Vegas or days around a pool in Mexico. This is the 3rd time I've done something like this from Vancouver for Detroit sports. First was Game 4 of the ALDS in '06, went with my dad. Second, described above, was Wings Game 5 SCF '08. Still two of the most memorable experiences of my life, certainly of sports-related experiences at least. I go in expecting the Lions to lose. But I was so intrigued earlier in the season seeing Lions fans celebrating post-game together down near the sidelines in Tampa and Los Angeles among others. Imagine Sunday if the Lions pull off the upset, Niners fans go home, the stadium empties out, but say 1,000 Lions fans in blue are at the railing high-fiving Lions players like the Kenny Rogers-led scene in '06. Priceless.

  11. You're talking to a guy who went to "Trouble with the Snap" and the Aaron Rodgers face mask non-penalty to Hail Mary in the same season. I only went to three football games that season, and the third was Michigan getting blown out by Ohio State. The more gut punches you take the nicer the view from the podium feels.

  12. Watching the NFL Network and seeing the mock draft scroll at the bottom. It takes forever to get to the Lions! 😁

  13. There have been fake kneel-downs... Why not a fake "concede"? Especially if it ends up with a win instead of a loss. This is the playoffs. All's fair in love and war... And the NFL Playoffs... IMO.

  14. I'd love to see some real changes, like eliminating the corner three, but I doubt we'll see anything like that. Simple changes would be great too, though. Just give the defender as much respect as the offensive player and allow him the right to his space on the court. Eliminate fouls where the offensive player initiated the contact by driving directly into a defender. Also, get rid of the moving, leaning, and grabbing on screens (see Lopez and Giannis on every screen yesterday). Those two things alone would make a world of difference for the ability to defend. The pendulum has simply swung too far in favor of the offense. Sure, we want to see fun basketball, but we also don't want to see free throws all day. Let's not forget that better defense can also lead to more fast breaks, which can be even more fun.

  15. Instead of doing all that to kill the remaining time on the clock why not just get stopped short on the goal line, cause a review to take place, and force a 10 second runoff.

  16. contrarily I might just let Javey be Javey and hack away hoping for the 25 homers and living with the .300 OBP in exchange for a .400 + slugging. I think the "control the zone" mantra has F'd hm up. Just let him rake and live with the strikeouts and ugly ab's in exchange for some game changing power/ AB's and good defense with great base running.

  18. So a multi billion dollar industry fixes their most important games, a scheme which if uncovered would destroy the league and land people in prison, but Vancouver Island TV is in on it???

  19. But you have to think of the safety of others. See, if he's out of football, he starts working on rockets and that could lead to people dying. So, in order to save lives (and billions of dollars) someone in the NFL needs to hire him.

  21. My retort the these conspiracies is: if you’re so sure it’s scripted go bet your house and retirement on it. Otherwise it’s just using the benefit of hindsight to create narratives.

  22. He shouldn’t have conceded the game when he did. That was a mistake. When he did make the decision to concede, the right thing to do is to follow through.

  23. I feel like the general rule for away games is the same it as at your local bar. Don't look for trouble and you won't find trouble. I doubt you'll have any issues. I'd also be surprised if you don't have at least something of a contingent of Lions fans to have each other's backs up there.

  24. Thanks for this. Campbell is just so straight forward with people....he's a down-to-earth...tell-it-like-it-is kinda guy. And giving credit to others while taking none for himself. That's pretty refreshing these days.

  28. Happy for Barnes, it's hard for me to believe that this is only his 3rd year and he was a Holmes draft pick. For some reason in my head it feels like he has been here a lot longer than that.

  29. Please, amplify this. Include a cartoon of who Rasputin was. Identify that he was stealing from the Czar the attention he deserved because the Czar was a television star with hit ratings. Stress that even though Czar Nicholas II was super handome and liked by every women he met, Rasputin tried to be more popular and that Melania was sleeping with Rasputin because she liked Rasputin better. Also, Czar Nicholas wasn't as rich as he claimed and would never be invited to a Met Gala.
