Hiura has never really had a position, so he should fit in well.2 points

We're very much navigating into political talk here. Let's leave that for the political forum please.2 points

I have no idea how much it would cost nor if the Lions would even be interested in spending the money on a kicker but if they choose to go that route I'd love to go after Chase McLaughlin. He's a UFA, last year he went 29-31 on Field Goals including 7 of 8 from 50+ so he showed he was reliable from deep. Also didn't miss a PAT all year. Plus he is only 27 so if we sign him to a long term contract we could be set there for the foreseeable future. If they want to go the short term route they could sign somebody like Nick Folk for a year or 2. He'll be turning 40 but he showed he's still reliable going 29-30 overall and 11-12 from 40+(5-6 from 50+). Whatever the case I think it is pretty imperative they find a kicker that is reliable and Campbell trusts cause I still believe many of his 4th down calls this year were because he just didn't trust our guys to make it from outside say 40 yards.1 point

Matinee in Calgary. Kane whistles one in from the point to open the scoring. And now Compher makes it 2-0, still in the 1st.1 point

I think that's part of the reason they got Canha. He can play first base if Torkelson slumps badly.1 point

We do it to maintain influence, markets, and access to resources. Also, if we don't, the enemies will.1 point

There is no-one in the Tiger org who could pressure Torkelson, but they do need some insurance if he gets hurt as they don't really have anyone else who has played much 1B since neither Nevin nor Schoop is still with the team. Ibanez played a couple games at 1st last season and is pretty much a lock to make the team but if they had to use him at 1st much it would crimp Hinch's 'optionality'. Beyond that, Malloy played a little 1B in college, Lipcius has played a little 1st in the minors. None of those have as much experience at 1b as Hiura.1 point

NFL dot com ranks the Lions as having the second-biggest Super Bowl window, right behind KC. https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-s-eight-biggest-super-bowl-windows-right-now-chiefs-lions-and-ravens-top-list-don-t-sleep-on-jets1 point

Actually, his OBP was .395 at AAA last year and is .387 for his minor league career. That seems like a Harris type. This could end up being sneaky-good, but he's probably just insurance in case a couple of guys or two get injured. Do we have a true backup shortstop? Plenty of guys are 2B/3B guys, but they don't seem like SS guys.1 point

after Lara is made GOP chair, breakdown of $$$ would probably be: 25% to non-Trump GOP candidates' campaigns 25% to Trump campaign 25% for Trump legal bills 25% to Trump crime family as grift/patronage/embezzlement/speaking fees/consulting fees1 point

Keston Hiura is what you hope Keith and Jung do not become. Top 10 prospect a few years ago, strong rookie year, not much since then. Had a big in AAA last year and is a low risk signing.1 point

The Commanders are looking like us under Quinn, except instead of going after anybody with ties to the Pats they are going after Lions.1 point

His biggest issue was really not being knowledgeable about baseball. It showed in the way he passed along incredibly mundane stats as super interesting. Maybe that is on the production staff for giving him those mundane stats in the first place. It will be interesting now that two of the best in the business are in that chair this year.1 point

Two groups of people had a dispute. So of course, the thing to do when dealing with a temporary disagreement is start shooting. This country's so damn broken.0 points
