  1. I was listening to the audio podcast version of Meet the Press today, and noted something quite.... well They have Rep Jim Clyburn as a guest. She asks him all sorts of questions, whatever pretty non-memorable interview. The last question Kirsten Walker asked Jim Clyburn was: "You know it's Easter, what is your message about bipartisanship? Is it possible...? " Next interview, Rep Don Bacon. I've heard this guy on C-SPAN dozens of times, I know him by his voice. He's actually one of the more sane ones I hear come on C-SPAN. Anyways.... not a single question to him about bipartisanship. Why? Oh it's because the media expects the Democrats to be bipartisan and expects the Republicans to not be, and that helps the Republicans.

  2. Drop coverage centers struggle in the playoffs. Gobert being the first one that comes to mind. Just remembered I am posting in a Pistons forum and need to add some context to my post. Playoffs are a tournament that good teams participate in at the end of a season.

  3. It’s 3 games in the rear views mirror. They only have to play .500 ball the rest of way to have a winning record.

  5. Now this was a controversial thing to say all the way through this spring training. Heck, it'll become controversial again as soon as Hinch has a short string of bad outcomes.

  8. It’s a shame the Tigers aren’t playing in Kansas City tonight. There’s a tornado warning for KC until 11 PM central time. Worrying about a tornado would be a nice change of pace.

  9. I’m not informed enough to say whether this puts FL in play for Biden but I will say it helps Biden bigly because now the depleted Republic party has to spend resources in what was considered a safe state.

  11. I wouldn’t touch this stock with a ten-foot pole. I think it would be easy for Trump to manipulate the price by going to some big player or foreign money guy and getting them to buy stock, to goose the price, in exchange for favors after he’s elected. I also think he’ll figure out a way to get the six-month rule waived, so it’ll be sword of Damocles until the second he dumps and cashes out. Buyer beware.

  15. 'Truly Innocent' is sort of an ideality isn't it? There are millions of people who are not 'Truly Innocent' that can't be convicted of any crime. Since NFL deals are largely un-guaranteed, the Lions had the right to cut him before his case was resolved. That also creates a kind of momentum to assume he's as good as convicted. But you never know, it's not unusual for cases to end up being legally more complex than they appear initially.

  16. First guess would be that if the UFL contracts didn't give guys rights to sign/jump to NFL deals, they'd have a hard time recruiting players.

  22. I think the new administration is doing everything they can to save some of the hitters they inherited, and they may succeed with some yet. But others will either have been so ruined coming in that they are unsalvageable, or never did have the required skills to become effective big league hitters in the first place. I think most of the latter category have probably been cut loose, although there might be some who they're hanging onto just to make extra sure that can't be saved before launching them. Because hitting in general appears to be lagging behind pitching throughout the league, in terms of advances in proficiency due to the application of data science and the like, it might be a bit longer before this organization can have successes with our hitters that are on par with those of our pitchers that we have already seen. But I'm not ready to pull the plug on hoping we can do so. I'm willing to give this regime even a couple more years to get it right. But if we are still struggling with optimizing hitters going into 2026—particularly those that this front office acquired as prospects and through impact trades, as opposed to waiver wire pickups and low-level deck chair trades and MiLB contract signings—that's when I'll start to worry.

  25. For a change, it’s a good situation that the organization doesn’t have to feel like they need to rush a top prospect, particularly a pitcher. If he succeeds at Erie and Toledo this year and gets a late call up to the bigs it will be a very successful year for him and the Tigers. Realistically, and this is somewhat hard to believe, Jobe is probably in the starting rotation on opening day next year. Staying healthy is paramount in his case.
