  5. Yankees are a top six hitting team with elite walking skills: 11% of plate trips, best in baseball. They also limit strikeouts and the fly balls go over the fence a lot. They have don't chase, but when they do they make contact. But, like us, they'll watch strikes go right over the plate. Juan Soto is absolutely crushing it for them; Gleyber Torres is sucking wind big time. And just think: he could've been ours. 😉 We're getting a crack at their worst starter tonight in Stroman, and he is extremely hittable in the zone. He keeps the ball low, but he does give up a lot of bombs, too. This may be as good an opportunity for Tork to jack his first bomb as he'll get this weekend. Clarke Schmidt is middle of the road, although I did see him toss six perfect in Scranton in August 2022. Nestor Cortes will be the toughest test, as he doesn't walk guys or give up hard contact, so good thing we have Skubal up against him. They have a strong bullpen although their numbers are outperforming their expected stats, because they have the best BIP luck in the game. They don't strike out guys, and eventually the BABIP is gonna catch up with them. Clay Holmes is absolutely slaying as closer, though, so if we can keep him out of at least two of the games, that would be great. The more we see of Caleb Ferguson and Victor Gonzalez, the better off we'll be. I like us to win two of three here.

  6. silver has been very weak with player discipline so far. he's let them do whatever they want for the most part.

  7. “Cancun on 3” is pretty harmless. I think given the lack of response from the Buck bench, they hold also have some sort of punishment, but I’m not sure what they can do. Monsignor Popovich and Father Kerr will no doubt be dismayed about how players are held to such high regard as to not throw the basketball with malice at fans. Twice.

  25. JEIII's latest is the ol' make an offer to the beat writer for another team for a trade. each beat writer basically said "no way." the pistons dont have the assets to trade for an available GOOD player, much less an available STAR player. duren and this year's #1 for ingram and the pels' #1. nope. duren and fournier for poetl, bruce brown and a #1 pick this year. nope. duren, ivey, and this year's #1 pick for lauri markkanen. nope. with a big ol' laughing emoji that this wouldnt even be CLOSE to what they would want for markkanen. five frp/frs is what it would take or maybe 3 first round picks and cade. similar to the donovan mitchell trade. these are just beat writers, but the overall tenor is that the pistons' assets are not looked at as valuable other than cade and maybe isaiah stewart. this year's number one is not worth much because the draft class sucks, and ivey, duren, etc are not seen as valuable players. and we cant trade future ones because we still owe one to the knicks. we are four years into the worst rebuild in nba history and we have very few assets and NEGATIVE draft capital. the incompetence of this front office is amazing, matched only by the incompetence of ownership in keeping it around.

  26. Correct. As a theoretical exercise, it's clear that there's a path to doing it. In actuality, as even the AP article from March states, it's not without complication or without possible legal issues arising from such a move.

  29. Does he throw the ball at the wrong fan and then causally ask for it back like “oh my bad” only to chuck 10 times harder right back at who he wanted to hit? Beverly and his entire Bucks team should be immediately banned from the rest of the playoffs.

  30. Why not Baddoo? Removing Canha from the OF opens up an OF spot. I know there were a few comments about trying Carpenter at 1B. That's probably something that might be nice to try in spring training, but given how this team is so dependent upon pitching and defense, I'm not sure its a regular season experiment. I have no desire to bring up Hiura. He's not on the 40, he's a hack at 1B, his offense has been OK like you said. I guess the priority would be to get Torkelson back on the right path for the long term and short term pain would be acceptable. Its just to tough right now without the backup 1B. Given how Canha is a key cog in the offense right now, he's not going to sit much. I think I'd take my chances with Ibanez as the backup 1B right now.

  32. As much as people speculate about Biden and "one heartbeat away" and all of that, boy, that should matter with Trump too. Rubio is a disappointment, but there's a little bit of brain matter still going on there as disappointing as the guy is. Vance, on the other hand, seems more like a modern day Manchurian Candidate to me.... just something really really off there.

  37. Iran attacked Israel on April 13th. Trump’s trial began on the 15th. Israel retaliated to Iran’s attack of the 13th on April 19th. I believe your comment above is beyond anything that be proven at this point considering the other events outside Trump’s trial. The attack and counter attack between Iran and Israel are far more relevant to the ongoing protests than Trump’s trial.

  39. And it strikes me that at his point, they have crossed over into sabotaging whatever legitimate cause they may have had. This protest movement has moved so far over the top that it's made itself the issue and it strikes me that any/all legitimate criticism of Likud settlement policy and Netanyahu's conduct of the war have being pushed completely out of public consciousness, the exact opposite of what worthwhile protest is supposed to achieve. And I don't think these people understand how civil disobedience works as a protest tool. Civil disobedience worked in the US Civil Rights movement and for Gandhi in India because unjust law was preventing discriminated against groups from doing things they should have been able to do, thus in doing those things they broke the law, and forced morally corrupt prosecution. Or even in Vietnam protests where kids forced the system to arrest them to induct them into the Army. Privileged kids just breaking trespass law and destroying university (public) property nets them liability for prosecutions that are just, completely appropriate and will be/are widely supported by the public.

  44. I can't believe after what we saw in 2016 and 2020 that people can't see it. Right wing agitators have infiltrated these kids, like they did in 2020 with Black Lives Matter, in efforts to help Trump and hurt Democrats.

  45. The goal is obvious. It is to get Trump elected. It is no coincidence these protests escalated as soon as Trump's trial started. There more media attention on the protests than on Trump's trial.
