A Tiger taking too many pitches. What else is new? You just cannot end an inning on a called strike with a man in scoring position. Shouldn't 'control the zone' include defending it? In general the Tigers have done a good job of staying alive today but not that AB. And Miller isn't any better since he's come back.2 points

per Fangraphs, the WAR leaders at 3b include Isaac Paredes (1st), Matt Chapman (7th) and Willi Castro (9th). Not Harris fault that Paredes was traded; but Twins got Willi for nothing and he has given them over 4 WAR in 200 games. Harris signing Chapman was always the correct move; massive, massive failure to not get him The opportunities are out there; Harris either does not see them; does not care; or cannot act out of fear of failure.2 points

What difference does it make if, on June 8, 2024, McGonigle is in low A or high A? They probably have things they are working on with him; he got a late start to the year. Wait til all the boxes are checked and make the move when they are so you don't have to send him back and hamper his development. He's a year out of high school. You don't rush his development because Javy Baez can't hit my weight. It's not like McGonigle is banging down the door with a 1.500 OPS or anything like that.2 points

McGonigle is a man amongst boys—3 for 4 with a BB tonight. .355 batting average.2 points

Staffing. Worked for one of the bigger ones that is based in Michigan. The current CEO is gutting the company, and most of its US operations are being outsourced, department by department. My sister and girlfriend also worked there and were outsourced in December. Spent the last two months training my replacement in the Philippines, and it was going pretty poorly and they fired him a week before my last day. There’s going to be a lot of clients leaving due to this, and they are really going to regret doing this by saving money in the short term in the sake of service. I do have a severance that will get me through most of summer.2 points

Players unfamiliar with each other leads to one run and using a LF that can't even keep a guy from getting to third on a FB leads to another. Hinch being the smartest guy in the room.1 point

It’ll be explained as a semi day off for Canha at DH. I get that. But not if it means Baddoo in RF.1 point

Regardless of any particular case, if looking for the players that fit your system mean you pass on other good players that can help you win, you are putting system over success and that would be a pretty dumb approach. Systems don't win games, good players do. It's perfectly fine to use a system in development because you think it helps improve your odds of producing good players, but given a good player, you should never hold his style against him if he performs. No system works for every player and to exclude good players you may be able to get is purely counterproductive.1 point

Sorry I'm so late to answer your question. The 3rd base coach has more than one thing to relay to the runner coming in as well as any other runner approaching 2nd. Unfortunately, he only has 2 hands. Generally, if the runner needs to slide, he will be using both hands to indicate a slide and to which side of the bag. If a slide is not necessary, the left hand will be raised to indicate a stop at third with or without rounding the bag. The right hand will be pointing to where the ball is or where it is heading. If there is a second runner heading toward second, often the coach will be looking at that runner to insure he is catching the signals he is giving. So, as you can see the 3rd base coach has multiple duties all at the same time. Hope this helped.1 point

I do not understand this lineup. Our best outfielder is playing third base, our best third basemen is playing first base and our two worst outfielders are both in the game together when a better outfielder is the DH. Did I get that right ? Maybe the worst outfield arms in the game all playing together with Perez on the bench. Why not.1 point

Yeah I saw another story on it. The book it is based on covered the class Ride was on. It was picked especially for diversity. There’s a challenger series on Netflix now and in it they show Cronkite’s broadcast announcing the new group. Paraphrasing the numbers he says “among them are 2 blacks, a woman, and an oriental” given who is involved this one sounds great. The best space show ever is HBO’s From the Earth to the Moon. That set the stage for Band of Brothers and John Adams and the Pacific. Showed HBO that model could work.1 point

Yeah, they are pretty slow to promote people which that's fine I just think both Clark and McGonigle need to be tested by better pitching. Clark may not have the high BA but both his and McGonigle's average EV is high especially for the FSL. That being said when they are promoted it will be on a Monday or Tuesday as they probably wouldn't push them up mid series. Selfishly I want them up to WM before July so I can catch a game in Midland.1 point

Watched the first two episodes of The Acolyte. I like the Star Wars universe so I like the show. Can’t help but feel we’ve reached the point where all of the new Disney+ SW shows are sort of the same. Flying around from world to world trying to figure out the mystery bad guy while delving into the murky past of the main characters. Need more variety in story telling. Hard to tell much of a difference in this one from Mando, Boba, Obi-Wan, Ashoka. Andor is the only on that followed a different model.1 point

Fargo & Chernobyl were brilliant! Have you seen Shogun, A Small Light, or White House Plumbers? More brilliance! Also: Andor... if you're into Star Wars. And if you like the Beatles: Get Back and If These Walls Could Sing... (not series but 1-show doc's).1 point

IMHO, 'NO' way on the trade - but appreciate your idea. I like Arenado, but at 33 and 5 years left, St Louis will be looking to get out of that for awhile... Jung and Madden should garner more than that. I think more along the lines of Jung and Madden (and maybe a regarded A level prospect ex 20-25 range) to LAD for SS/Inf Gavin Lux and one of C's Diego Cartaya or Thayron Liranzo. or something like Madden and Hao-Yu Lee to Colorado for Ryan McMahon. Four years younger (29) signed through 2027 for 'apx' 60 million remaining. Can play 3B, 1B, 2B and LH bat. To cycle back, the exception would be as Longgone posted 'unless Arenado might be a last vet piece' on a WS contending team and even then, at that point, they should be able to find a vet on the FA market for lesser years and money.1 point

What a disgusting performance tonight. They were disinterested in playing baseball tonight. Did they party at the Train Depot concert last night and get hungover. I did find out tonight, though, that you can sleepwalk and (sort of) play baseball. I put more effort into wheeling my garbage bin to the curb.1 point

That's the problem. You can't come close to replicating MLB pitchers in the minors. Maybe here and there, but not on a consistent basis.1 point

On an 88mph cutter. Apparently the Mudhens have a deal going where no-one with a 95+ FB is going to pitch against Torkelson. It's great he's cleaning up, but it would be nice to see it against something at least approximating MLB heat.1 point

I'm not trading for a 33 year old guy 5 years left on a bad contract. If the alternative is waiting for the next wave of prospects, I guess I'd choose that. There have to be upgrades that don't have boat anchor contracts.1 point

when the loan on his "humble" $300,000 RV was paid off, he did not report that as income, so that's tax evasion if anyone cares, and i guess no one does1 point

What am I listening to? Dave Mason!! And his band. At a small venue in Newton NJ - farm country…. His audience’s age probably averaged out to mid-70’s, I’d think. 😁 Lots of gray mullets on the men, too-high espadrilles on a smattering of women, the rest in sneakers, crocs, sandals. Dave looks and sounds great, and can definitely still rock out. Fun night. Definitely raised my spirits and made me feel like a 20-something for a few hours.1 point
