It's good to see, but I also think we knew he had this ability. I would probably prefer a headline like "Jake Bates ends practice a perfect 24/24 from 30-39". In a league decided by 8 points or less more than half the time, I think being absolutely money on extra points and chip shots is more important than the rare 60+ yard attempt. If you miss from 64 as time expires and lose, you can probably point to other times in the game where you could have done more. If you miss an extra point and a 30-yard field goal in a game and lose by 1, well.... Though don't get me wrong, the ability to have this in the back pocket is nice to have.

Just a general observation as I have been out of the loop due to back to back vacations and being busy in betwee.... for all this injuries to this team... they are still in every game it seems. I'm not saying they are good but with this roster they should be getting smoked more often.

As I've said, it's absolutely bonkers that people blame high gas prices and grocery prices on the president of the United States, instead of on the oil companies and the major grocery chains. It is the same strain of intellectual dishonesty that says that Trump was a better president than Biden because we were in no wars under Trump and we are in two wars under Biden, when in fact not only do we no troop involvement in those two wars cited, we were in an active war in Afghanistan during the entire presidency of Trump and Biden got us out of that.

People focus too much on stats with developing players. Here’s a guy with some natural bat to ball skills, but some flaws in his swing that were inhibiting his progress. In a year and a half, the yankees reworked his mechanics and then LA took a different approach. You can’t just incorporate these types of changes overnight, it takes time to build muscle memory. You always have to take a step back before you can go forward. If he corrects his flaws and stays with it consistently, you may have something.

It's funny how the government forced TV broadcasters to adopt new standards and frequencies when technology changed, but never forced AM broadcasters to shut down and go to the FM band. Maybe the move to digital TV was actually less cutting edge when it happened than the introduction of FM was in its time so there was more doubt about whether it would be viable, plus FM had no capability like the big regional clear channel stations of the time. Also the spectrum of the AM band is probably not worth much to anyone else the way the big chunks of the UHF band that has been re-allocated is.

Hard to know how long it was in the planning or how fast it came together in a hurry, but Biden/Harris have pulled off one of the greatest maneuvers in US political history. One idea would be to have the ex-Presidents on a video discuss what they thought about the position and its responsibilities. Then have them intersplice Trump's most ridiculous norm-breaking acts. So maybe showing each president laying wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, then have John Kelly looking into the camera describing the notification of a parent like himself when a soldier dies, then have others describe how Trump didn't want to see wounded warriors or travel to the military cemeteries, then have the footage of the ex-presidents at McCain's funeral, then have the ex-presidents sitting on a porch talking about that sacred duty. Then end with John Kelly saying "My son wasn't a sucker" But, that's just one idea.

I don't really understand the complaints about the cost of eggs. I just got a dozen eggs for $3.00. That is more than it used to be, but I still consider it a good buy. That's like 4-6 meals for $3.00.

It's going to be a problem with with an automated zone - scoring will absolutely go up and the question is whether it will be unacceptably too much. It's been my observation this season that when you get an umpire calling a tight zone 10-15 total runs is pretty common. You can't do much about the width of the zone the computer would call, but you could program for a little more vertical than the umpires call today to try to compensate for the fact that the computers will undoubtedly take away all the crazy wide off the plate calls that most umps regularly give away.

I was more conservative in my 20s. Once I started working in social services research I became more aware of the importance of social services and noticed that some services for people in need would get big cuts when Republicans were in power. I didn't think this was at all offset by the sometimes slightly lower (almost unnoticeable) tax rates under Republicans. Republicans were supposedly for lower spending and lowering the national debt but the debt kept soaring regardless of the party in power. Retirement investments were supposed to do better under Republicans, but they didn't. I initially bought into trickledown economics, but that didn't work either. So, I came to the conclusion that Republicans were only helping the wealthy and guaranteeing that everybody had a right to carry deadly weapons. So, I have became more and more liberal over the years.

Why are we even asking that question. It’s a moot point.
