  1. As in '06, my first thoughts are of my maternal grandmother (1904–1990), who always – I mean *always* – had the Tigers on her TV and/or kitchen radio in the summertime.

  2. Hey Everybody, Not sure who remembers me, I was a regular on MotownSports and joined way back in like 2003. I remember the countless inside jokes over the years, SlickNickShady's 'hat on bed' pictures, Library Monkey/Titus Tigers famous animated gifs in the game threads. And so many more memories of the old days. I really miss all the sabremetric discussion. There were some really brilliant math-oriented people who used to post here. Hope there is still a lot of that. I remember most of the old posters, Yoda, Biff, Yooper, Chasf, Oblong, Tiger337, etc. I hope many of the old crowd is still around. Unfortunately, life just got in the way and I had to step away for a long time, but seeing this run the Tigers are making inspired me to make my return. Anyway, sorry for the useless thread, it will be the only one of it's type that I create, I just wanted to say I missed you all and am happy to be back.

  5. I love that it’s a bunch of kids. No bloated vets hanging around because of a contract. They’re too dumb to know they have to wait. Tonight was an amazing night at the park. The teams prior, even2006, had stress involved. This team just took it and didn’t care. They don’t know you have to wait. **** it. We take.

  6. One of the more promising things about this is that this run wasn't necessarily just some arbitrary thing that happened without reason, there actually is some on field differences to explain it like getting Meadows and Carpenter back. Losing Baez and adding Sweeney, Keith getting better especially defensively and Tork returning and playing better.

  7. It seemed like there were a fair number of players’ parents on the field after they clinched last night. That’s a fantastic touch. I don’t know if I’ve seen that before.

  9. I'm sure the morning came a little too early for these Tigers..........but they'll be ready. Is this Heaven? No, it's Detroit. 🙂

  10. They promoted Jobe with the intention of using him in the playoffs, I believe.

  12. I can't ****ing believe though that this team rallied back and made this improbable run to get into the postseason. This moment, this run, today's game, is what you really live for as a fan of any sports team. We're playing with house money now, so this anything that happens after this is gravy. Helluva job by AJ Hinch, Chris Fetter, this staff, every Tiger player, Scott Harris, the player development staff. Incredible job all around by the entire organization really for making the impossible somehow possible. What a ****ing last month and a half this has been. We're in the damn playoffs. WOW!!!

  13. I remember the speculation by many that 86 wins would do it............and it did. 88 would be better, regardless of anyone else's record. Honestly, I don't give a flying **** who we play. We're there, man. And whomever it is, has not been playing as well as the Tigers the last month.

  15. It's too bad the Tigers can't host Houston in the playoffs. I wanted to see the fans boo Verlander along with his wife and children.

  25. he has a kid who was placed in charge of the bulls, because reinsdorf doesnt care about basketball. theyre not going anywhere. to make nice with the state they proposed a few hundred million in renovations to the area around the current park. we'll see if he actually follows through with it. he made noise about nashville but 1) nashville wants an expansion team and not an established team; and 2) its just a ploy to get the state to pony up and give them a billion dollars. JB told them (and the bears) to pound sand. but its an election year. we'll see what they say next year. BJ the mayor is all for it, but we'll see how much money he has left over after he pays his bosses over at the teacher's union.

  27. My question would be whether the more aggressive stance by Israel makes it any harder for these groups to swim in the population or not. Probably not since they enforce their will by terror at home as well, which is completely unreported by international media. But just ask yourself how Israel always seems to know where these guys are? There is a large segment of the local population that hates them and provides a constant stream of intelligence over the transom to the IDF.

  28. Yes, most great comebacks involve one team surging and another one failing. It doesn't take anything away from what they did.

  31. I agree there have been very real improvements with position players. The crazy part is the pitching. Hinch/Fetter have gotten an incredible amunt out of what they had available the last couple of months.

  32. I began this season with mild interest, that eventually escalated into despair, and then hope, then amazement, and finally tonight with gratitude. The unexpected nature of this makes this particular outcome gratifying in ways that are incomparable in my 64 years as a fan. There’s been a lot of high points too numerous to recount, but this is really special and unequaled in how this team seemingly rose from the ashes.

  36. people are looking at this wrong. yes it's unseemly for a "billionaire" former POTUS to be hawking all this crap. but the real issue is money laundering. $10M seems to be the going price for a bribe for Trump if Egypt report is correct. so pick any oligarch in the world; he "buys" 100 watches at 100K - that's $10M. he does not even need the watches to be delivered. if they are, fine, throw them in the trash. Trump is accepting payment in bitcoin which is key to evading taxes, sanctions and audit trail

  37. Not sure. Just know it’s Trey Sweeney with the Tigers and Sydney Sweeney with the twins.
