  1. As in '06, my first thoughts are of my maternal grandmother (1904–1990), who always – I mean *always* – had the Tigers on her TV and/or kitchen radio in the summertime.

  2. Hey Everybody, Not sure who remembers me, I was a regular on MotownSports and joined way back in like 2003. I remember the countless inside jokes over the years, SlickNickShady's 'hat on bed' pictures, Library Monkey/Titus Tigers famous animated gifs in the game threads. And so many more memories of the old days. I really miss all the sabremetric discussion. There were some really brilliant math-oriented people who used to post here. Hope there is still a lot of that. I remember most of the old posters, Yoda, Biff, Yooper, Chasf, Oblong, Tiger337, etc. I hope many of the old crowd is still around. Unfortunately, life just got in the way and I had to step away for a long time, but seeing this run the Tigers are making inspired me to make my return. Anyway, sorry for the useless thread, it will be the only one of it's type that I create, I just wanted to say I missed you all and am happy to be back.

  5. I love that it’s a bunch of kids. No bloated vets hanging around because of a contract. They’re too dumb to know they have to wait. Tonight was an amazing night at the park. The teams prior, even2006, had stress involved. This team just took it and didn’t care. They don’t know you have to wait. **** it. We take.

  6. One of the more promising things about this is that this run wasn't necessarily just some arbitrary thing that happened without reason, there actually is some on field differences to explain it like getting Meadows and Carpenter back. Losing Baez and adding Sweeney, Keith getting better especially defensively and Tork returning and playing better.

  7. It seemed like there were a fair number of players’ parents on the field after they clinched last night. That’s a fantastic touch. I don’t know if I’ve seen that before.

  9. I'm sure the morning came a little too early for these Tigers..........but they'll be ready. Is this Heaven? No, it's Detroit. 🙂

  12. I can't ****ing believe though that this team rallied back and made this improbable run to get into the postseason. This moment, this run, today's game, is what you really live for as a fan of any sports team. We're playing with house money now, so this anything that happens after this is gravy. Helluva job by AJ Hinch, Chris Fetter, this staff, every Tiger player, Scott Harris, the player development staff. Incredible job all around by the entire organization really for making the impossible somehow possible. What a ****ing last month and a half this has been. We're in the damn playoffs. WOW!!!

  13. I remember the speculation by many that 86 wins would do it............and it did. 88 would be better, regardless of anyone else's record. Honestly, I don't give a flying **** who we play. We're there, man. And whomever it is, has not been playing as well as the Tigers the last month.

  15. It's too bad the Tigers can't host Houston in the playoffs. I wanted to see the fans boo Verlander along with his wife and children.

  29. The last time the Tigers made the playoffs Jason Giambi and Derek Jeter were still in the league. The highest salary was 26 million in Zack Greinke(30 guys make more than that now) and AJ Hinch hadn't even started with the Astros yet.

  37. This is the biggest game in Comerica Park since the 2013 ALCS. This is a team with zero ****s to give. They dont care if they lost yesterday or if they won yesterday or last week or who they are playing or what pitcher they are facing or when their last home run was or whether they were in Toledo this year I've spent a few thousand dollars a year on the Tigers. I've done that since I was 23 years old and in college. During the lean years when I had to make choices. Some years I questioned if I was being a fool. But I stuck with it not because I think I'm special but because I love being at the stadium during a random mid week summer night and unless I buy the tickets then something else will come up and I won't go. I go with family, friends, or by myself (Did that 3 times this year and it's a great experience). I thought of that this week when that part of the season is already over for me. It reminds me of being a kid. When I am at the games I have no problems to figure out. It's just joy. But now the stadium wil be packed. Tonight's game is another reminder of why I do it because I'll be with people I've sat near for 15 years at least. We've sat through cold April games and sweltering August games when the stadium was near empty. The last time we were there we saw Montero put down 27 batters and then the team nearly pitch a perfect game. Playoff talk was polite but under our breath was "Are you kidding.... come on?".
