I ended up going today. I had turned in earlier tickets for this one in anticipation of a clincher. After last night I was ambivalent. My youngest son and I were gonna go. When I saw the weather I said screw it. He had a long night with us anyway. I already paid for parking so was a bit bummed. I sat around the house watching Michigan play. My wife comes home, wondering why we aren’t at Comerica park. There’s no way my special needs son would have tolerated this he crowded concourse for 2 hours during a delay. after last nights fun i reconnected with an old friend via text and asked him if he wanted to go with me in case I decide to go. He was sick. Was kind of looking for motivation to go. So we are laying around and I see on social media the game will start around 3:30. It’s 3:05. My wife is like “just go. I can take care of Alex and dinner. Season is almost over. We are going tomorrow so I don’t mind missing out”. I head down and get theRe in the 2nd. It rained the whole time. Like a mist. I got drenched. Luckily it wasn’t cold. Just heavy. I had some money left on my food voucher they give us and had 2 hot dogs and also 2 MGD’s. (Only $5!). Once they hit the 2 run homer I boogied put. It was a nice no pressure game. I would not have done this in June or July but when it’s the final regular season series you have to soak in all the games you can. And I don’t mind going by myself sometimes. It’s nice to just chill and not have to make small talk. No different than going and sitting in nature to meditate or whatever. and hats off to the crowd.4 points

If you're angry, disgusted, depressed, mad, or whatever about Trump then come and help knock doors with the Michigan Democratic Party and the Harris/Walz campaign. Door knocking and phone banking are two of the very best ways you can get Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and Democrats up and down the ballot elected. I've been doing it and you can too. There are campaign office all over the State of Michigan and all across the country if you aren't in Michigan. Here in Metro Detroit alone we have offices in Ann Arbor, Belleville, Canton, Detroit (3 offices), Farmington Hills, Grosse Pointe, Livonia, Madison Heights, Pontiac, Port Huron, Rochester Hills, Southfield, Sterling Heights, Trenton, and Warren. Hey Everybody, Not sure who remembers me, I was a regular on MotownSports and joined way back in like 2003. I remember the countless inside jokes over the years, SlickNickShady's 'hat on bed' pictures, Library Monkey/Titus Tigers famous animated gifs in the game threads. And so many more memories of the old days. I really miss all the sabremetric discussion. There were some really brilliant math-oriented people who used to post here. Hope there is still a lot of that. I remember most of the old posters, Yoda, Biff, Yooper, Chasf, Oblong, Tiger337, etc. I hope many of the old crowd is still around. Unfortunately, life just got in the way and I had to step away for a long time, but seeing this run the Tigers are making inspired me to make my return. Anyway, sorry for the useless thread, it will be the only one of it's type that I create, I just wanted to say I missed you all and am happy to be back.2 points

Looks like we could be Texas bound. The ultimate David v Goliath showdown. At least we won’t have Greg Pappas returning with his passive aggressive posts.2 points

You know, I hope the Tigers don’t treat this like a house money game. I think it does matter, at least on the margins, whether we go to Houston or Baltimore.2 points

In my observation, that is how most sports fans act. It's why I hang out at obscure social media sites talking to more serious fans.2 points

Appreciate the Welcome, everybody. It seems some remember me. So many great users in here. Trying to think of some of the other posters of the past .. Edman85, is he still around? kpking? DaBishop? I remember one guy I loved reading, I think his name was sabertooth, he always had a lot of interesting mathematical analysis on everything. And trying to remember funny stuff from the past. Remember that one guy TripleSeven or whatever, I can't remember how he formatted his username, but I remember he was the one who thought that Dave Dombrowski read his posts on the message board and took advice from him, he recognized his profile picture and even nodded to him at the stadium? I forget the full scenario. Then there was that other guy, his name was The_Strategy_Expert or something like that. He had some made up statistic, called the OE% which was apparently the ultimate way of rating the true value of a player to a team, but he wouldn't tell anybody what the formula was or how he came up with these numbers, claiming the formula was worth way too much money and he was holding onto it to sell to GMs to use. I'm trying to remember. Anyway it makes me happy to see that a lot of the old crowd are still around. Hopefully more people return like I did due to the excitement of this year.2 points

Their emotional finish reminds me a little of 1987. Hopefully, their post-season is better this year. The difference though is that 1987 was the end of an era making it a bitter defeat. This year should be the beginning of an extended era of good baseball, so if they do bad in the playoffs it won't sting so much.1 point

Whether Baltimore or Houston it's going to be tough, but Det should be ready. Would have been tough to beat Baltimore 3 straight series in 3 week period. And Houston starting rotation has been very good. Time to enjoy and see what happens. Guessing it's Skubal, Olson, kitchen sink. Regardless this is outstanding experience for the young crew.1 point

Montero seems to have outstayed his sell-by date. It's been a while since I thought he pitched well. I think Mize has way more upside than Keider but the way he suddenly loses it so totally when things go South makes him feel like a big risk in a short series tilt too.1 point

I feel bad for him because he was signed to come here and help make us respectable, and now the team is making the playoffs in spite of him, and that has to weigh on his psyche some. I would wish something like that only on bad people.1 point

I don't think it means much of anything at this point in his young career and I expect him to end up a very good player at the end of the day. However, according to PFF, Terrion Arnold has graded out as the worst rookie starting CB through 3 weeks. I really only bring this up because when Jeff Okudah was out there, when he wasn't hurt, he was getting dogged out by fans early on. So if it was fair to critique Okudah, it's fair to critique Arnold too.1 point

I seriously don’t think the A’s will ever land in Vegas. I’m hoping Fisher gets bored and sells the team. Putting this charade in Sacramento will highlight what a ridiculous joke this is to begin with.1 point

Baltimore probably shouldn't start Burnes in game 1, because if they don't score against Skubal they will have wasted a Burnes start.1 point

I’m sharing this with y’all right now. I’m in Jeckyll island Georgia for a cousins trip. Recently one of my wife’s cousins was diagnosed with ALS. That prompted them all to plan a trip here for her. There’s 22 of us here. She’s progressed to the point where she’s wheelchair bound. Today we convinced her to let us get her into the pool at the resort. I was one that happened to be thwarted to hang on to her as she got in and to carry her around. She started giggling. I asked if she was ok and she said yes, she’s loving it. I will never ever forget that for the rest of my life and feel honored to be fortunate enough to have been able to give her that joy. Live your live and cherish it every moment.1 point

Yeah it's been a rough decade, but hopefully things turn around in the next couple of years. If you have no hope, whats the point? Follow another team.1 point
