  1. Hell at this point you just pray he comes back close to the same player

  2. Was reading another thread and it got me thinking. Would you trade all of these players to the Dodgers for Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Yoshi Yamamoto?

  3. 54-9 would be the largest loss in Cowboys history. Just throwing that out there.

  4. This feels like the end of the season for this team.

  5. It’s also important to consider that this is a tight knit group right now who will run through walls for each other. They cheer for each other when they get pinch hit for. A massive part of the success the second half of the season was guys being willing to take on any role in any situation and have a good attitude about it when it was their turn to take a seat. Is bringing in some high priced free agents going to shift that attitude back more toward selfish individualism? We are at a point in the rebuild where Tiger Culture is a thing and is an important immeasurable to consider when we add outside help to the team.

  6. Seriously how was that not DPI? Ill take the completion but the defender never turned back for the ball and prevented Patrick from going to it without fighting through it. That wouldve been DPI against our guys for sure.

  7. I once did a ranking of the top 20 most memorable Tigers seasons. I wasn't around for all of them, but I tried to imagine what it would have been like to be there. I think this season falls in the top 10. I can't find the list I made, but the top four were obvious: 1968 1984 1935 1945 More recently, 2006 has to be in there. 2011-2013 were great seasons, but there wasn't really one season in that span that stood out as memorable. There weren't any big surpises or drama. It was just stars doing what stars do. I think this season is up there with 06 and 87. It's kind of a mix between the surprise of 2006 and the end of season drama of 1987.

  8. If a guy can catch, I'd keep developing him as a catcher right up to the minute you move him to 1st if you have to. Catchers that can hit above average are too valuable. Teach him 1st but don't move his primary gig.

  9. Biggest Lions beatdown in my life..............the closest was the game against Denver when Shaun Rogers returned a fumble for a TD. Remember that one. . How about you, biggest one from the Lions you've ever seen? They didn't even score a TD !!!

  12. This just might be the most critical juncture the Tigers reside at since 2005. Take a look at the outfielder for a moment. While there is much to admire, there are also some questions peering into the future. Carp and Geene are solid players, but both have had significant injury histories so far into their respective careers. Carpenter's back issues can take a serious turn . Does Perez have a place moving forward in Detroit or is he a depth piece for Toledo? A right handed outfielder addition might make some sense for example. An upgrade is desirable at third. Is Tork the answer at first. As mentioned earlier, chemistry is this case is very important as mentioned earlier. I advise caution.

  13. This is lost on people who think the only way to improve a team is to spend on free agents, but you are onto something here. This isn't to say the team shouldn't dip into free agency, but they need to be selective and do research on the soft factors before adding somebody to the mix.

  15. If it’s a season ending injury you have to go get an A-tier edge rusher. You can’t stand for this being the way the season ends.

  26. Right now I see Greene, Meadows, Keith and Carp as your potential core players. The rest of the lineup should be open to upgrades if there are any potential ones out there. Don't pass on proven players for guys like Sweeney, Jung, Vierling and Tork. If those guys end up improving/bouncing back great you can always find at bats for them but I'd like to get either more proven players or better players then depending on them next year.

  28. I still like the Husso acquisition, the contract was very bad in hindsight though. It was worth a try when the Wings didn’t have a NHL level goaltending for the foreseeable future. It sucks he kept getting hurt and never found consistency. I guess the Fischer injury is pretty serious and they need some roster flexibility?

  30. Take a run at trading for Brent Rooker from Vegas/Oakland...he'd give you that RH power bat this team sorely lacks and the A's are always on the hunt for prospects. Jung, Hamm and Lee? Vierling plays 3rd. I think Sweeney is our boy at SS. We have the $$ to go after Alonso..would love to see that. But a cheaper alternative would be OK. With the young talent we have on hand and in the pipeline...I think we look like a much more attractive FA destination than we did last year

  31. Holl looked good...Johansson was solid. Edvinsson is going to be good..seems to have better offensive instincts than MO. They're going to be a a really good top pair. Top line should be Tarasenko..Larkin and Raymond. Cat...Compher and Kane on the second line until Danielson and Kasper get here.

  33. Stinky McStinkface was also very good, as was JHM, but they did not get many at bats. Jake was also pretty solid, more than he is normally. And, of course, Parker. Almost makes up for the horrific trade for his brother. The one guy with the playoff experience, Vierling? Huge disappointment. Couldn't stop striking out. Also, all the other rookies hit like rookies. Just about everyone else was within margin of error for average. All in all, a mixed bag offensively.

  34. I think it was kind of a fluke that everything came together at the same time. That doesn't take away from how fun and memorable it was, but I don't think they can come close to repeating it without some substantial moves this off-season.

  36. Gonna leave this here. I was tracking this over the course of the series, and didn't know until tonight that the Guardians actually hired the guy who found this effect. In game 4, I flagged Holton vs. Ramirez and Brieske vs. Fry. If guys like Holton, Brieske, and Vest started leaking oil toward the end of the series, it may be this effect. https://www.theringer.com/mlb/2023/10/27/23935127/world-series-preview-texas-rangers-arizona-diamondbacks-bullpens-repeat-reliever-effect

  38. Extremely flawed is a good way of putting it. They got an awful lot of mileage out of this team which was unexpected. Making the team better and not just expecting it to mature is really important.
