There is little doubt in my mind that Trump tried to cheat. He has cheated at everything his entire life. He has cheated his customers and contractors. He has cheated on all his wives, He's a tax cheat. I could go on. However, I don't believe his cheating was enough to turn the election. Unlike MAGAs, I believe in democracy and the rule of law and I need very strong evidence in order to assert that an election was stolen.4 points

I was really hoping he'd need a couple weeks of "reconditioning" before getting back on the court. Team was better with Beasley in the starting lineup.2 points

That's where a lot of Autocracies start out. The playbook is just successively neuter the other bases of power by the death of a 1000 cuts. Installing docile judges is always one fundamental starting point and Trump is already a way down that road - thanks in large part to McConnell. And now suddenly he's supposed to be our great white hope? I'm not holding my breath.2 points

https://www.npr.org/2024/11/18/nx-s1-5195524/pennsylvania-election-ballots-senate-recount is this the issue your talking about? https://www.npr.org/2024/11/18/nx-s1-5195524/pennsylvania-election-ballots-senate-recount About 400 "dirty ballots". Misdated, not sealed properly, etc. The Trumpublicans are afraid that there might be a few votes for Democrats in there. Funny these are the same guys who argued they should be counted in 2020 when they were losing. Hypocrites.2 points

I just discovered this sub and holy cow is it good. Of course, it's probably good that I discovered it NOW vs. like 10 years ago. Anyway, if you haven't been there yet, check it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/NFCNorthMemeWar/ And if you find any really good ones, please share them here. Ya know... stuff like:1 point

The NFL scouting machine has it all wrong and it’s why they miss so often on QB. They get obsessed with the ability to make all the throws. They should be focused on the ability to make all the right throws.1 point

The problem with QB evaluation particularly coming out of college is it is hard to gauge the mental aspect that players bring to the table and their ability to properly read defenses when to audible who to throw to etc. and these are all things Goff excels at. Its much like in baseball where teams fall in love with the pitcher with the raw stuff but doesn't possess the command or "art of pitching", teams will take their chances and assume that either A. that stuff will be enough or B. they can teach those things and more often than not that doesn't end up being the case. Just one example of this with Goff that comes to mind is that long St. Brown TD against Minny, Goff audibled into that cause he read the defense properly which in turn led to an easy St. Brown TD. The pundits just look at the physical aspect and dont give a lot of credit to Goff since it was an "easy" throw but in reality it wouldn't have been an easy throw if the QB didn't properly diagnosis the play and check into it accordingly.1 point

“Almost every time Buchelnikov appears on the ice, he is superbly active both with and without the puck,” noted KHL TV commentator Anton Vasyatin. “Now he is a key player for the team.” Recent analytics provided by the KHL Smart Puck show Buchelnikov and Maxim Mamin of CSKA Moscow as the faster skaters in the KHL. Each has displayed a top seed of 39.5 km/h. He’s also among the most accurate passers in the league. He accurately connected on 335 of his passes" He's also close to the KHL scoring lead right now, think he's in third TWITTER EMBEDS ARE WORKING AGAIN!!1 point

One thing Scott will absolutely positively not do is outright Tork, at least before he reaches free agency. We on the board may be down with him, but he’s not worthless to the market yet.1 point
-
They haven’t given up on him, unless he gets dealt this offseason. And he has more than ST. They might want him to continue working on things in Toledo, but they aren’t going to discard a guy who is one season removed from 30 HR’s.1 point

I didn't know we were talking about court rulings. I thought we were talking about people that didn't get chosen for cabint positions. I think racism has a lot to do with court rulings, but that's another argument apparently.1 point

We don't know much about their internal AB by AB evaluation or metrics of what Torkelson did or didn't accomplish at Toledo and on his return, so all we can do is speculate (it's what we do here!) since the org doesn't talk much, but of course that is what it all comes down to. I think the bottom line is that if they have decided go into ST committed to giving Torkelson in a shot at keeping the job, then a priori, they wont sign anyone who costs them any money or term commitment. And of course if they don't sign such a player before ST, the odds of signing them after ST are not zero, but small. In that case, the hedge if Torkelson doesn't produce is going to be this org's go to strategy, which will be to sign someone 'expendable' - i.e., an older mid level player in his 30's a la Canha, or a even a minor league free agent they think they see some upside in. To me this feels like the most like scenario for Harris. The other thing to consider is that if they were as done with Torkelson as much of the board is, one would question why he would be on the 40 after today. Cutting guys is one thing they haven't been shy about.1 point

Looking at the remaining schedules: Lions: @Colts, vBears, vPackers, vBills, @Bears, @49ers, vVikings [Expected Finish: 13-4 to 16-1] Packers: v49ers, vDolphins, @Lions, @Seahawks, vSaints, @Vikings, vBears [Expected Finish: 10-7 to 13-4] Vikings: @Bears, vCardinals, vFalcons, vBears, @Seahawks, vPackers, @Lions [Expected Finish: 10-7 to 13-4] Eagles: @Rams, @Ravens, vPanthers, vSteelers, @Commanders, vCowboys, vGiants [Expected Finish: 11-5 to to 14-3] There's probably a world where the Lions go 2-3 in the final stretch of Packers, Bills, Bears, 49ers, and Vikings. It feels unlikely the way they've been playing, but I think that's the only way they get caught, either for the one-seed or for the division. The Eagles don't have an easy finish either, playing the Rams, Ravens, Steelers, and Commanders across the next five weeks. They could easily go 2-3 themselves in that stretch. The Vikings probably have the easiest schedule of the bunch, but the way they're trending I don't think there is a single gimme in there. If I had to predict today, I would say: 1 - Lions (15-2) 2 - Eagles (13-4) 3 - Falcons (10-7) 4 - Cardinals (10-7) 5 - Packers (12-5) 6 - Vikings (11-6) 7 - 49ers (10-7) Eagles knock off the 49ers (possibly into a rebuild), Kirk Cousins knocks off the Vikings, and the Packers beat the Cardinals, setting up a Lions/Packers Divisional Round game at Ford Field.1 point

I think Goldschmidt is trash. And we aren’t going to sign anyone as Tork insurance. They need to sign someone better than Tork. What’s the use of signing a 1B worse than Tork to use an insurance? Insurance for what? He’s already basically replacement level.1 point

I've heard rumors....many MAGA election officials had access to voting machines in key precincts. Just sayin...1 point
-
The thing that worries me about Goldschmidt is that his SO% and BB% have been in decline for a few years, moreso his SO%. Another season of decline and he might just end up being the same as Torkelson. So, with respect to this swapping of players, I'm not sure how much the older player would be an upgrade over the younger player.1 point

the wings are the worst team in the league. if yzerman truly believes this is someone else's fault besides his, then he has to fire lalonde. they played much better last year with a similar group of players. what is happening this year that turned them into the worst offensive team in hockey?1 point

I had a whole long reply to this typed up that I should have saved because I knew the server migration was coming, but I didn't. 😞 The short version is that the Spartan/Lions had a part to play in the NFL Championship game even existing. Prior to 1933 the NFL Champion was the team with the best record. In 1932 the Bears and Spartans both finished with the same winning percentage and the normal tiebreakers didn't work, so the league and the teams agreed to an additional game to decide the ultimate winner. This was officially a regular season game so doesn't count at a post season game. 1933 would see the first official playoff/Championship game. That 1932 "playoff" game is actually a wild story. If you haven't heard about it ready the wikipedia page here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1932_NFL_Playoff_Game The game had to be moved inside due to weather and was played on a "field" that just a few days earlier was used for a circus. Special rule changes had to be made, some of which persist through today!1 point

The Tampa Bay game was a fluky loss. The Lions doubled them in team yards 463-216. They were just out of synch in the red zone that day. This team could very easily be 10-0 right now. The Lions are so ****ing good that the league should give Tampa Bay an automatic playoff berth just for beating them.1 point

Not sure if this is a peeve or what... but I have a gmail account i use for internet stuff, like subscriptions and news sites, etc. It's only purpose is that. I tried to use it to register so I could read and I realized my account was locked due to size limits. Turns out Google Photos (Which I didn't know was a thing), syncs up with iCloud photos. So I deleted a bunch of videos and pictures from Google Photos. Last night I went to show a picture from October to a friend, and it's gone. When you delete from google photos, it also deletes from your icloud. There's no way around it. I had to go into my trash bin and recover hundreds of photos from this summer and fall, and a bunch of videos from the last 10 years. I spent 15 minutes looking for a way around it.... you can't turn it off. Yes, there is a 'sync' feature in google for Apple but it's just for "Favorites". I could try deleting the google photos app but I think that has to be done on every device. What a crock of ****. I'm already backing up to the icloud. All to get me to pay google for more storage?0 points
