Reaction to overreach is our best way out this The deep red states are hopeless, but there are plenty of states that will turn blue in the mid-terms if things get ugly.3 points

ugh. he would have fit nicely, but more likely that he would have a big year in Cincy's tiny stadium.2 points

One of the Challenger Astronauts was Ron McNair. As a kid he tried to check out books from the public library in Salt Lake City but it was segregated and they wouldn't let him. He refused to leave and eventually the police came. They finally let him get the books. The library is named after him now. He got a PhD in Physics from MIT.2 points

Also, for the record, I've really grown weary of Alex Bregman and bringing him the longer this has gone on.... I'd rather they just go get Ha-Seong Kim and ride Vierling/etc. at 3rd to begin the season versus Bregman who, while a talented player, is going to regress as he ages and for whom Comerica isn't exactly a great fit.2 points

It doesn't matter. The fact he was one of the violent "tourists" 1/6/2021 is still on his very permanent record. As I said KARMA. He will always be known for receiving a Trump pardon. His name was on the list. Where were they wrong. I'm not litigating this any more2 points

He was released from prison but still under supervision. He wasn’t totally free. Nothing about the headline is incorrect unless people don’t know how to read.2 points

That’s not what law said. He said that if Kevin hit his 95% projection that he would finish with 2500 hits. Regardless, Keith loves the tigers this year.2 points

I think we ascribe a lot of genius to these guys.... the reality is that this rollout of this policy being a ****show suggests a lot of incompetence. It doesn't downplay the malevolence to recognize this. Politically, there are ways that they could have done all of their plans that wouldn't have caused this uproar, which would have made said plans a lot easier. But they didn't do that.1 point

They will get their funding back once they pledged fealty to Trump and only Trump. That's what this part is all about.1 point

They also pay a lot in taxes, so they're actually not freeloaders. Heck, they probably pay more in taxes than Trump does.1 point

Meals on Wheels is more than just hot meals. It was a chance for someone to visit seniors and check on their health and safety. There were occasions I had to have an ambulance come. I had one guy with a nasty infection in his eye, another who was having a pulmonary embolism, and another who was past the point of being able to live without supervision.1 point

Pleasant was a defensive coach. Goff needed to prove he could do without McVay and now he needs to prove he can do it without Johnson. If he can't do it with Morton, it means he can't do it without McVay or Johnson and we need to trade him and two 1sts for Herbert.1 point

I like this part of that article; "Trump's initial net approval rating of +7 percentage points is lower than that of any newly elected president since World War II, with one exception: Trump himself during his first term."1 point

Of all the former center-right intellectual souls lost to Trumpism, Rich Lowry's is the one i really think saving would make the least difference.1 point

Harry Litman @harrylitman.bsky.social Follow Orwellian quote of the week: "A spokesman said the DOJ is committed to advancing the new administration’s goals, including “upholding the rule of law, ensuring the security of the American people, restoring the public’s trust in the justice system, and ending weaponization of government.” January 28, 2025 at 11:57 AM Everybody can reply1 point

Then both can be true. It's not the Trump voters freezing the infrastructure projects.1 point

Nope. Red state red hats will not band together with their neighbors and rise up against MAGA overreach by the government. They will simply turn on each other to eliminate local rivals, and then look for opportunities to plunder what's left behind. That's how it has always worked throughout history. It may be unconstitutional and technically illegal, but what it's not is stupid. They know what they're doing, and they have help architecting the whole thing from benefactors who have 800+ years experience in doing the same thing.1 point

And as a Democrat, he needs to show he can turn out the black base. He needs to show he can turn out the vote in Detroit.1 point

Put another way, he has to show that voters in a swing state will accept a gay man who is married with kids. I like him a lot and he's qualified for Governor, Senator, and POTUS.1 point

trey lance was traded for a 4th round pick. kenny pickett plus a 4th round pick was traded for a third round pick and a pair of 7th rounders. those were both former first round picks who failed. both are also younger than hooker, trey lance is much younger. not sure hooker would net more than either of those guys. is it worth giving up on him for a 6th round pick or a chance to exchange a 5th to move up into the 4th? not sure. we dont see him in practice every day. i'd rather just ride with hooker and see if he pans out as a decent backup.1 point

it doesnt matter what program he plays at, he's still going to be a top pick in the nfl draft. the young man should make as much money as he can now. if that's a raise from ohio state or a raise from usc or a raise from alabama, he should take it.1 point

I realize I am biased, since I am an Ohio State fan, but I can't see where he would be better off anywhere else, in either the short term or the long term. He's with a program that features him, has ample NIL, and churns out NFL WR talent like no one else. Any NIL offer from another program would have to be 3x what OSU can provide to even consider it. I don't even think the change at QB really factors in. If there are any concerns at all with Sayin (and I don't think there really are), they would just go get another Howard.1 point

Bad game from Cade. But the guy had zero help once again. Duren was the only other starter that had double digit points. Combined, the 4 starters scored 22 points. Thompson didn't score at all. Nobody other than Cade had 20 points.1 point

WOW!! This is something out of a movie. Hometown kid from Michigan, undrafted and signs a tryout with Grand Rapids in 2017. In his eighth year in the AHL after never playing in the NHL he's leading the Griffins in scoring and 1 off his career best in points. At age 31 he finally gets his NHL shot. Really hard working dude, love to see it even if he doesn't do much in the NHL.1 point
