  5. the history defining crisis will be when a federal court says you cannot do XYZ, and Musk will respond "You can't stop me" as others have said, the system only works when people are operating with some degree of good faith. MAGA has none. they have already teed it up that a little bit of unconstitutional is OK

  7. I brought the topic up last summer but it would be so easy for an MLB umpire to fix results for the gambling community. Much easier than maybe any other sport. The ability now to bet on props like runs scored or not in the first inning, pitcher strikeouts or total batters faced could be easily manipulated solely by the home plate umpire. The more that MLB and the umpires union continue to ignore poorly called games without any questions or potential punishment for the umpire makes it even easier to do without getting caught. MLB believes that umps work by a code to honor and protect the sanctity of the game. I am sure that almost all of them do but it just takes one to see it as a job they do to make money and pay the bills. Another reason they need roboumps.

  15. he did say danielson could have been #2 on the list. but then goes on to say he doesnt look like a #1 center and the offense isnt there. i give credit to wheeler for putting out as much stuff as he does about hockey prospects. he's got great knowledge of a lot of different people. but having a wide base of knowledge doesnt always correlate to a deep base on each player. which is ok! there are hundreds and hundreds of these guys and i wouldnt expect him to have a deep knowledge of each one of them. i appreciate what he does while also disagreeing with him because ALL i do is follow wings prospects so i have different opinions about them. and im a little biased. 🙂

  20. He's an injury risk but he's just a rental and won't cost much to acquire so there really isn't much risk with potential nice reward as a much needed ballhandler to alleviate some burden from Cade. I think it's imperative that Langdon add a ballhandler, he has to see that it's just too much on Cade's shoulders right now.

  22. Yep, the blood clot was huge. He ended last year hurt and still wasn't cleared for 5v5 until after this season started. His entire summer was lost. He also didn't get any training camp with his new coach. His first time running JB's system was 20 games into the season. Amen is in his second year with his coach. I also just think Amen is better. What separates them is Amen's handle. He has legit PG skills and can run an offense. Much easier for him to get to the rim than it is for Ausar. Shooting needs to improve for both obviously. But Ausar developing some ball handling skills will be his swing skill, not shooting.

  23. If there were any effects they would be more likely for the Wings than the Tigers. The Trust structure very likely insulates Chris' role as managing trustee from the details of however ownership/beneficiary shares might shift. He could theoretically have no ownership stake in the trust at all and still remain managing trustee. I would have to guess bigger changes could be at play for the Wings when Marion passes.

  24. That Trey shot was pretty sick and the lob call was pretty bad, but they lost this game long before that on the defensive end. The non-Ausar minutes were rough on defense. He was the only one slowing Trey down at all and JB should have had him on the court at all times when Trey was out there. Also, I get you want to build confidence in your guys but when it's a tie game and you need a stop, put Holland and Stew in the game so you can confidently switch everything if you need to.

  25. He didn't miss months of progress with a blood clot, gets more playing time, and didn't play for Monty who benched him early last season after he was getting the 3rd spot in the rookie of the year conversation. I think Amen's ceiling is probably a bit higher which is why he was picked earlier in the draft, but I also think Ausar would be much further along without those complications. I think of it as Ausar being 1 year behind in his development, much like when Cade lost a year to injury.

  27. I agree and that’s why it’s a waste of time using NCAA rules to determine if something was right or wrong.

  28. the thing that one always has to keep in mind is that NCAA rules and in particular the level of importance that org assigns to particular ones seldom relate in any logical way to ethical behavior in the real world. One you accept that, you can free yourself of the burden of trying to make sense out of what they do or how they enforce. The institution is like a giant game of Simon Says: the value of a thing that you do doesn't matter, only if they've told you to do or not do it. Thus it's pointless to argue about whether what Stallions did was more or less ethical or actually generated any advantage that wasn't already available or whether Harbaugh buying a hungry kit a happy meal was an act of recruitment or just everyday decency. NCAA doesn't care about those underlying realities.

  35. There's some weirdness in Flaherty's AAV that could lead to quite the discount next year due to the "Valley Charge." Might come in handy if the Tigers might be pushing close to the CBT next year, which they might with a Bregman signing or a signing or two next year. Greene hits arbitration. Skubal hits Arb 5. Long story short, Flaherty's AAV this year will actually be 27.5M, with next year being his salary minus 7.5, meaning if he declines, the Tigers get a 7.5M discount on their AAV calculation. (I'm awaiting confirmation on what happens if his contract incentives push his option year up to 80%, thus wiping out the valley tax) This contract could be signaling that they are planning to be considering the tax next year.

  41. It's one thing to trade away a player at the deadline for a top 100 prospect and guy who starts almost immediately for you at SS and then resign him in in the offseason. It's a whole another level of insanely good fortune to also make the playoffs in the same year.
