I understand the desire (and reason) to keep politics out of this thread. Is that really possible to do anymore and still maintain an honest discussion about investing?4 points

Dirks is really good. He's the best color guy they've had since Rod Allen (Sorry, I liked Rod Allen, he entertained me, made me laugh a little).2 points

INTC was one of the few stocks up today. Not much other green. Giggle. This is why I hate the market, and myself. All this was well known a week or so ago, and what did I do - nothing. Could have bought a VIX ETF about a week ago and got a 50% rip in a week. Pull the rip cord, laugh, and thank you very much. The everything bubble has been looking for a pin since the swine bankers blew up the world in 2008/2009 and now we have one. Trump = pin. It will be interesting to see how far this goes. They are laughing at us. Wait till we bail out the banks - again. Long toilet paper. JNJ? They were green today too.2 points

For anyone interested in learning more about the torpedo bats, and more so just the science in optimizing bat making for performance, the Rates& Barrels podcast had a good podcast discussing it. https://open.spotify.com/episode/4sqvvURplhWc4UMIMqWorB?si=ZNJ9scsBStCRTFBJfigTWQ1 point

I’m sure they’re sold. It’s just that everyone you don’t see in them is inside the nice warm club nibbling on swell food and drinking top shelf drinks. Just as with so many other organizations, the Tigers ae targeting super high net worth individuals and companies at the cost of the terrible optics of all those empty seats on showing up on TV.1 point

Tell me that isn't an instant reminder of certain trade decisions that impact Detroit and metro area including across the river.1 point

If I spent the money on one of those heated seats, I wouldn’t leave it. I’d pee in an empty drink cup.1 point

I think every prior administration might fiddle with the numbers by maybe changing the definiions of employment or something. I actually expect this regime to just make stuff up. I have zero trust in them1 point

Another John Burn-Murdoch graphic... A couple of takeaways: 1.) Immigration is basically the thread holding the enterprise together at the moment 2.) Not every Trump voter is a "red hat"...1 point

by this you mean the actual channel not the MLB app which appears to show these weird games with their local ads all off-season. If you want to know what the Dominican Republic's citizens ad market looks like, its very interesting...almost more interesting than the games.1 point

What I love is the Republicans are like, "We'll bring back manufacturing jobs!", "We'll build new factories to create jobs!" How long does it take to build a factory? Also where are the materials going to come from? America evolved to get away from manufacturing jobs to pay employee's higher wages in the tech industry. People always point to China because they "make things". They also have a communist political party where the bottom social class barely makes any money with not a lot of options to move up....... I wish people would think about this. I'd love to talk to a Republican that thinks this is good......1 point

The Pacific League had a well-over 200-game season in 1905. Three different teams both won and lost over 100 games. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/league.cgi?id=47653d3c1 point

1 out I think. Sweeney had struck out. Then Harvey bounced out to third and they got the force at home, then McKinstry Kd. The Dingler single really wasn’t hit deep enough to send Keith home—he’d have gotten thrown out if the throw was remotely decent. Then again, the Ms airmailed like 4 throws to home from the outfield this series….1 point

No. Another example of your latch onto an idea and never let go. And why listen to that crap?1 point

that's a comparison some of us made at the time. look, no one hits on every pick. brad holmes has made the lions one of the most talented teams in the nfl. he's a great gm. he can draft all the brodrick martins he wants if he keeps getting amon ra, kerby joseph, brian branch, sam laporta, etc etc etc. he's been one of the best drafters in the nfl.1 point
