Out of reactions at the moment, but this is a +1 for me. Talking to seniors is THE main reason I love volunteering as a delivery driver for a local pantry. I have a regular clientele of maybe 50 or so people, mostly seniors, I deliver to at least every two weeks. Most of the know me by “first name” (they are always “miss first name” and “mister last name” to me, and they appreciate the respectful address), and we know each other well enough to ask questions about certain topline personal things like family and health issues. One of them, Mr Davenport, has even told me I’m his best friend, and I suspect he really means it. I get where he’s coming from—he’s in his 80s, health issues, living alone in rough circumstances in a low-income high-rise building in the big city, feels isolated from everything around him, and he has said as much. I sense it wouldn’t be right to disabuse him of the notion, so I try to be as gracious as I can about it. He’s an extreme example, but point is, me showing up with their food from the pantry is a big highlight for most of my clients, and not just for the food itself. I’m so blessed to be in a position to provide them both sustenance and social contact. Doing this has been literally the best choice I have ever made, and by that I’m talking what it means for myself, not necessarily for them.

Ramirez getting thrown out racing to home in the bottom of the 9th must’ve been crushing for Cleveland fans I mean, devastating especially after the sheer joy that swept through the crowd when he made it to third base. Even Kwan is not so good offensively. He doesn't strike out, but he had a .705 OPS. The Tigers had a far better offense most of the season. They need to get Greene, Torkelson and Carpenter back on track. The only area where the Indians are superior is the bullpen.

Yeah. Wallace seemed to be more a segregationist of convenience - from what I remember he became a fairly reasonable guy in later years once there was no political profit in the old racism. I was only 10. :-) The North coast of Ohio along Lake Erie is really pretty neat. Put-in-Bay, Kelly's, North shore stuff, Cedar Point, etc. Then there is the gazillion dollar drive. From mid Ohio along the lake to downtown Cleveland to a ball game. The money along that stretch of highway is really impressive.
