  1. Replays that take longer than 60 seconds should stand. Stop putting dust under a microscope.

  2. I didn't think of that scenario. Unlike the Tigers players, I was being selfish and only thinking about the numbers and stats. Not once did I ever stop to consider Bert's feelings. For that, I am truly sorry. I do hope our guys in the dugout are keeping him in mind though.

  3. I think Red Sox fans are worse than Yankee fans, but that depends on whether you prefer self absorbed whiners with a victim complex or arrogant entitled assholes.

  5. With Tork, the adjustments he made for this year probably saved his career—so I can understand not trying to push the envelope too hard to try to get him to do too many additional things beyond what he has already improved on. You don’t want him to go away from something that has helped him overall, struggle with that, and then not be able to revert back to what he was doing and go back into last years form. This offseason you can probably push him to take the next step now that he has improved his contact rate, found his power, and improved his walk rate. Guys like Greene and Carpenter are a lot more frustrating to not have explanations for on what Tiger management is trying to do with them. They both were lighting up the baseball savant page, and now both have had an enormous drop in plate discipline and are completely selling out for power all the time regardless of situation.

  6. When taking the first question in his press conference today, JD Vance calls on some guy. His question started out like this "There are two key democrat lies....." What a complete ****ing joke.

  7. I always wonder where Hinch is in all this in terms of what he is encouraging guys to do in a given AB - whether explicitly or implicitly. Torkelson is a good opposite field hitter and can reach the seat oppo in almost any ballpark, but he doesn't go that way as much as I would like to see him. So the question is do the Tigers get a lot of all-or-nothing hitting because that is what they encourage? IDK but it's a fair question.

  8. Game time subject to change, as far as I understand. The Padres are on their way to forcing a Game 3, in which case the Tigers would either be playing at 1:08pm ET if the other two series also get extended, or at 3:08pm if one or two series finish today. If the Cubs come back to eliminate the Padres today and the other two series also wrap up today, then the Tigers would play tomorrow night.

  11. I always thought Caldwell was a good coach. I think he got a lot out of his team, and Patricia showed with the same players you could do a lot worse. Caldwell isn’t a special coach like Campbell. Campbell is the type of coach who if he ever became available would have his pick of jobs. If he didn’t want to coach, he would have his pick of networks to join as a commentator.

  12. you know if this goes to extras Cleveland will get in the psuedo runner and the Tigers will K out of the inning.

  19. Instead of following this game too closely I think I might watch a playful nihilistic French film from the 1960s where everybody dies because that is at least fiction.

  20. I made note of this and for some reason thought it was “Ascension” rather than “Severance”. I got about halfway through the first episode of “Ascension” and the terrible soap opera acting was unpalatable and I couldn’t understand why you recommended the show. Turns out you didn’t! 🤣 I’ll put Severance in the queue.

  22. It warms my heart to see Yankees fans being tortured at home. For it to be after bases loaded, no one out in the 9th, and against Chapman was simply perfect.

  26. IMO, the worse drive in Ohio is going South 23 from anywhere. The road you need to take to Columbus. From about anywhere North. Just on the North side of Deleware (nice state park) is a traffic light. First light is Rt. 229. Rt. 270 is 43 miles away. I think I have lost count, but pretty close, there are 38 traffic lights.

  28. I probably hate the Red Sox more. We’ve had success against the Yankees in the postseason. Still bitter about the Papi grand slam. It’s a shame they both can’t lose this series.

  29. looking it again, I think it went under his glove. I'm going to guess is that what messed him up was Javy making the bounce throw already so low to the ground. Tork's muscle memory was probably expecting it bounce higher than it did and probably to be a harder throw than Javy managed. Still a great play by Baez and no justice at all to get an error on it.

  30. As you are driving south going through Findlay, watch on the left for about...5 huge windmills, not sure how many. There is a Whirlpool plant just off 75, I don't remember how much of it you can see, if any, but you can see the windmills. Whirlpool and a company called Ball Corporation financed them to feed their plants (only paid part of the bill). They go back to the mid or early teens. Whirlpool has a huge dishwasher plant there. I worked there when they were putting up the windmills. Once the large support was in place, you could see guys standing in the cavity where the spinning shaft will eventually be. Fun to watch it all go on, but...given hundreds of us had to get in and out from all over, it was a real pain at times. When they shipped in the blades traffic was a giant cluster. I wonder, if they were not so close to 75 if it would have ever had happened? Those blades are pretty long. They could never truck them to Cornhole. Funny town Findlay. They are on the I75 corridor, which is a good thing. That helped them grow. They also have Marathon Oil's corporate office, Cooper Tire & Rubber (who I think might have been bought out by Goodyear) as a couple big names. The downtown is small, but kind of neat. Quite a few food places to chose from. But they have trouble with floods. The Blanchard river has flooded ever since Moby **** was a minnow, and they never did jack squat. It ended up running places away from downtown because they kept getting flooded. It's a very wealthy town. There is a...I don't know what to call it...myth maybe. They said that Dave Thomas of Wendy's fame square hamburger was stolen from a Findlay restaurant named Wilson's. I don't know if that is true, but I ate there, and they are square. It was a long time ago, but I don't remember when. First famous person I think of is Ben Roethlisberger.

  34. Speaking of ice cream, that’s really how this playoff appearance feels to me. A lot of people are mad at how the Tigers make the playoffs, which I have trouble truly understanding, since we are one of only 12 teams even in it no matter how we got there. (My buddy the diehard Mets fan knows what I mean.) But I will say that the way we got there has made me realize how precious it is to even have a chance in the dance. It almost completely slipped away from us, but by the grace of 1,000 gods, here we are. It’s another thing to appreciate just being able to have. Win or lose, I’m thrilled we’re playing today.
