I agree a state issued ID would be a great solution. It also should be a bipartisan effort to see getting done. Go to the communities and hold several days of opportunities to get an ID, work with local community groups to set up sites and events to do so. Provide counseling or other means to help folks get thru the hoops to obtain the proper papers, birth certificates or whatever to make the process easier on those who don't understand the system. But what do I know, I'm an old white suburban male3 points

Because showing ID has little to do with it. Your precinct has a voter role. You sign your voter application - they match you to an entry from the voter registration role, you vote. If someone else tries to show up using your name - it's immedately obvious something was wrong, if you show up and someone has tried to use your name already - just as obvious. No official ID required for the system to check itself. You don't get to vote by proving who you are on Election Day, you get to vote because you are registered. There is little need for any system of proof beyond the person's attestation because impersonating other people is just not an effective form of voter fraud. What few cases of voter fraud there are come mostly from people registering where or when they are not legal voters. ID at the poll gets you nowhere against that if the person is already on the rolls but shouldn't be.2 points

Just read in The Athletic that Cade is now one of six active players to have a signature shoe with Nike.2 points

Regarding ID's. I don't have a problem as long as they can be easily provided for all eligible voters. Something conservatives are reluctant to do...2 points
-
In the absence of any evidence that there is widespread voter fraud stemming from lack of ID requirements, I can only conclude that the real reason people insist we must have vote ID is that they want fewer eligible voters to be able to exercise their constitutional and statutory right, because that helps the party they prefer win.2 points

And today’s visitor will be the Saudi crown prince Muhammad bin Salman…who will of course be bringing some “gift”, not to the American people, but to the Trump family. which murdering bastard gets invited next week? absolutely disgusting.2 points

We should like, band together and start a message board to talk about Detroit sports or something.2 points

It's a fairly apt metaphor, but the difference is that your house being broken into isn't a matter of Constitutional rights (granted that's cold comfort if it happens to you, but it is what it is 😉 ), so Constitutional practice demands that there be a actual showing of need before *any* burden is imposed, and for my money the SCOTUS has just been plain been wrong on this issue in letting any state require it - and certainly in any absence of a positive mandate that the state undertake provision of ID to everyone. But in the grand scheme of things to me it's not the hill to die on that something like Gerrymandering or CU are (and that CU should be to more people.)1 point

Really feels like this team is just extra cautious with injuries. Dudes who have a minor ankle tweak and play the rest of the game without looking like it bothered them at all are out for weeks. You'd think Tobias broke his leg with this injury that was so subtle I'm not even sure I saw it happen, yet he's not even close enough to be listed as "questionable" yet.1 point

“Hey Frank, It’s Brad and Dan. How have you been? We hope the wife and kids have been great. Listen, we wanted to ask you for a big favor…”1 point

I know this is crazy to say today but I’ve never felt this good about the defense in the Campbell era. This is without 4 starters. They have one major problem to fix. Interior OL. They have to figure out how to play better. The entire offense is built around a solid line. Goff with a little protection is lethal for a defense. Goff under pressure is lethal for us. If they can fix it, there’s a big playoff run and maybe even a Super Bowl. If they can’t, think about the worst parts of a TP gameday post.1 point

This team doesn’t leave the state for almost a full month. They have a mini bye before the big game at Rams. Lots of time to get things fixed but 3 wins in a row at home are a must.1 point

Draymond considered punching the fan, but the fan was larger and facing him.1 point

to echo what others wrote, Dan did not modify the play calling or the game strategy enough to fit the game that was actually being played on the field, rather the one he wanted to be played1 point

Not getting Brock Wright down low on that 3rd and goal was killer in the end. Wright was wide open and Goff never saw him. It wasn't like Wright was on the other side of the field either. He was in the line of sight for Goff because his route crossed underneath the St. Brown route in the back of the endzone.1 point

Ok, I’m ready now. This needs fixing. It’s not just about the Lions. It changes the outcome of games.1 point

True. Definitely the 2nd best team on the field and didn’t deserve win. But sometimes you can fluke one out and I hate being robbed of that chance, even if was only a 10% chance.1 point

Now you're just being a stupid childish troll.1 point

So the OC’s plan is to have Goff drop back? Where is the max protect? Where is the quick hitters? Jesus. Campbell is a great coach. He will be the first to admit his fault tonight.1 point

Goff keeps throwing it into the ground and trying to force the ball to St Brown and somehow people will keep complaining about the play calling. Goff is the worst QB in the league when it comes to operating under pressure, that's the problem tonight.1 point

asp and mbn arent exactly ripping it up either. but unlike kasper, their timelines have been fast tracked. kasper needs to be back on line one, imo. he thrived up there.1 point

I think you are right. He is a great QB, no argument from me, but he is also propped up by uneven rules application. It’s exhausting. He’s also a world-class prick.1 point

It starts getting interesting on Tuesday: November 18 is the deadline for players to accept or decline qualifying offers and the deadline for teams to set their 40-man rosters to protect players from the Rule 5 Draft. Speaking of the Rule 5 draft, has anyone seen Liston lately? I don't think he has posted since the summer?1 point

I wouldn’t either, but he implied at is press conference that Johnson had to watch him do it for a while(after Lynn was fired) to know what he was thinking and he believed that Morton could learn that also. He also believes in what Morton brings on the passing side. So I could see it going either way. I could also see Campbell keeping Morton and continuing to call plays if that’s what he thinks is best. Whatever way, Campbell has shown he will do whatever he thinks is best for the team -and so far he has been proven correct many more times than not.1 point

The big question is whether this will carry over to the playoffs, and I’m still skeptical. Playing hard every game is great in the regular season, especially with all the travel and back-to-back games where we know teams and players don’t push every night. If your team really does play hard every game, that becomes a big advantage, and the Pistons are clearly benefiting from that right now. But in the playoffs, everyone plays hard every single game because the games matter more, you get two or three days off between matchups, and you may only travel once a week with plenty of rest in between. That’s where the lack of shooting shows up, along with the lack of a true second option to help Cade. I just hope management doesn’t look at the record and assume the roster is set. They still need to stay aggressive and improve the team’s overall talent level for the playoffs.1 point

Sign Jenkins like right now, that's it that's all. I really do like Sasser but he can't handle the ball and distribute like Jenkins does. I know it's a small sample size but he's exactly what they need at backup PG with his skillset and mentality. The Pistons are going to have an overcrowded roster if Ivey ever returns, they're ripe for a 2 or 3 for 1 trade down the road. Crazy that they're winning these games and winning them easily while Cade, Duren, Ausar, Harris etc. get much needed rest. They're functioning like one of those top teams that consistently load manage nagging injuries are still able to maintain a good record. It's kind of a surreal feeling not even two years after a 14 win season. I mean, think about how much of a low point they were at as recently as the Summer of 2024. What a wild turnaround.1 point
