Maduro's hand picked VP is running the country, how exactly has the "Maduro regime" been ended?3 points
-
I can't wait for the power vacuum in Venezuela now. The drug lords will be the new ISIS, essentially running and terrorizing the country even more so than they already may do. George Bush Sr. was 100% correct. When you invade a country and topple it's leadership, you better have a good plan to govern effectively afterwards and have a clear, well mapped out exit strategy.3 points

The fact that a GM and a coaching staff sit down and try to figure how to survive the wreckage and limp home after moving a bunch of pitching just isn't grounds in my book for giving that GM credit for his players exceeding every reasonable and unreasonable expectation. It's like saying the Doc that put a bandaid on a patient gets credit for a subsequent spontaneous cancer remission.3 points

An 8-9 team going to the playoffs and HOSTING a game. Pure garbage.3 points

So, is Congress going to reassert it’s constitutional authority anytime soon? This has the feel of those smash & grab robberies you see on security cameras at an mall. Except it’s on a national level. With our military. Stealing a country’s oil that doesn’t on any level belong to us. And the whole world is watching us throw the rule of law out the mf-ing window. (listen, not a Maduro fan. Doesn’t matter.)3 points

Just ignore him. He's a sociopath and should be shunned. His schtick makes everyone miserable.2 points

Red hats didn’t vote for or against any policy. They have no actual policy imperatives, outside of generalized cruelty to people of color. They didn’t for tariffs or foreign policy or regulatory reform or any of that, not really. That’s not what red hats voted for. They voted for their idol. They are idolators. Simple as that.2 points

this is what is wrong with American libel law. Anyone who thinks jurisprudence that protects libels like these is a good idea is an idiot, plain and simple. And unfortunately too many of those idiots sit at 1 First St NE, Washington, DC2 points

absolutely idiotic. it was a bad year. that went right last year went wrong this year. and that is often the case in NFL. The Niners didn't fire Shanahan and I think they may get back to the Super Bowl this coming season and they were 6-11 last year. Campbell can't magically make injuries better and i think Ragnow blindsided them with his timing a bit. His mistake was the OC hire. I know the D was bad at the end, but we were putting 5th string guys out in the backfield and our D-Line was very disappointing. These are all quickly-fixable things.2 points

Disingenuous, because of course this is. Chuck Schumer was not demanding that Trump bring an end to the Maduro regime. He was calling Trump on his horse**** rhetoric about the Maduro regime. He knows as well as anyone that it is neither Trump's sole responsibility nor privilege to waltz into any other country, kidnap the president, and steal and sell off their natural resources for his personal profit and that of his crony investors. This is, of course, a criminal act of invasion and theft undertaken against another sovereign nation. Regardless of how much you might hate the United Nations for its rejection of American supremacy policy, both we and Venezuela are members in good standing of that body, and discretionary invasion of one against the other is specifically forbidden by charter. We, a prime signatory to that charter, now stand in breach of it, and eventually, there will consequences. Because if empires lasted forever, we would all still be Akkadians.1 point

Last game, Greg said he was on vacation. I'm guessing for the holidays. They had 6 games out of 7 that were on the road, he probably didn't want to travel. I bet he is back tomorrow against the Knicks at home.1 point

I remember when Michigan first allowed right turn on red, early 70s, and my home city of Warren immediately put No Turn On Red signs at literally corner at every traffic light in the city, probably thousands of signs. It was so prevalent and obvious that there were actual news stories about it, and I think I remember them being pressured by the state to stop that nonsense.1 point

Honestly, does Marco have an alternative at this point? It’s not as though you can just quit the Mob and live to talk about it.1 point

I agree on that. Too many people think they have the right of way to turn. Or that they can just sneak thru real quick if you let them go by. No. You wait. I once jumped on a persons hood who tried that.1 point

I wanted them to acquire a couple of relievers at the deadline. Finnegan was a good acquistion. Perhaps Jansen was available and I doubt he would have cost a top prospect. If he did, then it would have been a bad move.1 point

Then what's the point of divisions? You can't have the opponents for more than 1/3 of your games be decided by which division you're in if winning that division means nothing. I'd be fine with either a) winning the division means a playoff spot but you're seeded based on record; or b) moving to a 16-team conference, get rid of home and away pairings against one opponent in the same season, and take the conference's top 7 teams for the playoffs.1 point

I'm not posting this as political fodder for those who make it all political. This is the investment angle of what went on the other day. Good thread about the oil and looks pretty accurate best I can tell as I follow the energy space when I'm not in bonds.1 point

He looks like he absolutely knows that something he's doing is wrong (I've seen that look several other times when he's being covered). I can't decide if that makes him better or worse, considering he's going along with it anyway.1 point

I’m with you. I like rules and trying to stay within the lines but when the rules are control-based, micro-managing or just plain anal-retentive, I abhor those rules.1 point
-
I may be a third category: good-rule follower and bad-rule breaker. I assess, admittedly IMO, whether the rule I am being asked to follow makes sense in the moment, or is more of a control mechanism. I’m enough of a “bad-rule breaker” that, if I come to an intersection where I stop for a red light and I see there is literally no one in sight to the left or right of me, I’ll just drive through it. I would never blow through a red light without slowing down or even stopping, but I’m not going to stay stopped for practically no reason, either. I also acknowledge I would be marginally better off always following rules whatever the reason or circumstance.1 point

So to be clear, for all the celebrating about "freedom and democracy" for the Venezuelan people on the right, their solution is to take out Maduro and to replace Maduro with someone from his own government who, in all likelihood, will be just as repressive as he was to the Venezuelan people. So we killed 40 innocent Venezuelans and burned up taxpayer dollars for.... what exactly?1 point

Another example of it would be their "SCIF" pictures from the raid (clearly trying to cosplay the Obama-OBL raid) where they have three tabs of Twitter open.... We are being led by morons who continually sous vide their brains on social media lol1 point

I heard an interview that Jim Harbaugh did on 97.1 and as the interview was ending Harbaugh threw out there "that Barney Rubble, what an actor" and nobody got the reference. He probably had Connor Stallions tape the movie while a neighbor was watching it. "Name of the deceased, Something Polish?" comes just after this clip ends. Due to changing morals - some people might find a movie about prostitutes played for comedy in poor taste, but it's actually a pretty PG movie. Ron Howard's second film as a director (the first was Grand Theft Auto, if you can believe it). This was great for Henry Winkler too - because he couldn't get parts because people would only see him as the Fonz and he needed a friend to pull him out of that. So glad he got an Emmy for Barry, he was great in that.1 point

We better hope that isn't true of Harris. Any GM that evaluates talent based on whether it has his name on it is an egotistical fool and is going to be a loser as a result.1 point

So either the 8-9 Bucs or 8-9 Panthers will be hosting the Niners or Seahawks. Sure, okay.1 point

i understand, but i dont know if that is "good for the sport." i dont necessarily think parity is automatically good for interest in sports. i think the sport is better when its franchises with large fan bases are involved in championships because more people care about those teams.1 point

And what team wouldn't be all in on giving us real pitching or hitting help for a lesser prospect in return? 😉1 point

I don't know, Barney Rubble must have been considered a snack to be able to keep that stone hottie Betty in the fold.1 point

No way Hutson should be anywhere near the USA roster. JT Miller, Trochek and Nelson are certainly choices over Robertson and Caufield....1 point

Had an MRI on my head. Ain't nothing in there. No clots, no tumors. Funny that they asked what kind of music I wanted on the headphones and I picked Bossa Nova (neither tech ever heard of it) because it chills me out the most and I can still hear in the right ear. About 20 minutes into the scan a song came on and the rhythm of the machine and the song were in PERFECT UNISON and I started to laugh and they must have a camera on my face because they thought I was having a panic attack, but I told them it was just laughing. I thought I'd have to start over. I am a bit claustrophobic, but that wasn't the problem, it was so painful on my neck in that position. So - No perforations in the ear canal or ear drum In fact, the doc says my eardrum looks great, perfect color, no swelling. No blockages, almost NO earwax, there was actually more on the right side, the good ear, and the sucked it out (and it kinda hurt). So the theory is - at this point - that I have a virus that is causing major inflammation right on the nerve, behind the eardrum. That's not likely to show up on an MRI. So they've given me a high dose oral steroid, I took the first dose Tuesday afternoon and the last two mornings. Tuesday, rubbing my finger around the ear, I could not hear a thing. Yesterday, the finger test - I could faintly hear something deep in my head if I blocked the right ear, Today I can hear slight rustling in the left ear when I rub my ear without blocking my right ear. So maybe this is actually getting better. I think I'll know if this is the answer by Saturday. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to go see Stranger Things in a theatre today because it's VERY loud, but I got Vertigo about 4 times at the AMC Livonia. The carpet has these swirly patterns and when I looked down I got Vertigo. Then I went to look at the menu, but I tried to read it using reading glasses which made me really really dizzy. Driving was fine, however. I am hoping to be able to hear actual sound by Saturday. This is so scary. Music is like the absolutely #1 joy in my life and I miss hearing it the way I am supposed to. Regarding the steroids, I am waking up in the morning with absolutely NO PAIN. That's kind of nice.1 point

People who use the internet to scam and steal should have their damn hands cut off. Discussing with our radio station engineer and IT guy that fact that pretty much EVERY SINGLE WEBSITE is infected with viruses, and most of the time the actual host of the website has nothing to do with it and no knowlege. So by going to any and I mean ANY music-oriented website, or You Tube or anything is now risky and our company might start actually blocking sites that we need to use for research every single day. They don't want to do this, but it's gotten so bad that they are considering it. I just really hate dishonest people. Just go earn a living not ****ing someone over, please. It can be done.1 point

Lions currently have the 16th pick in the draft. The highest they can go is 11th and the lowest 18th so win or lose, they're not going to move that much so I'd rather they just win and go out on a positive note.1 point

No perforations. No earwax blockages. Theory is that the nerve is being blocked by viral swelling, but I am doing a head MRI to see if it's something else. Wish me luck. They gave me steroids for the possible viral swelling. I'm really hoping that's what it is.1 point

My prediction: the first 3 plays on offense will be runs up the middle for 3, -1, and 2 yards. "We're a running team first and I thought it was important to establish the run behind 3 rookies including a practice squad C, who I like to pretend are All-pros even though everyone knows they are not."1 point
