  1. This trade actually made the Pistons a worse shooting team. How did that happen.

  6. OK, just read about the new(er) trade rules regarding salary. Teams under the 1st apron can get back $7.5 million more than they send out, which is how Detroit could send out Ivey at $10 million and get Huerter back at $17 million. That makes the trade a little more interesting. Because they could trade Huerter alone, and the same $7.5 million rule would apply. Meaning they could target someone making $24.5 million. They could also do that with Saric, but at his lower salary it changes to 200% of his salary, so they could target someone for about $10 million. Or they do nothing, who knows.

  7. We've cut taxes on the wealthy in this country for decades and it's driven us straight into the economic toilet. The data is clear, tax cuts for wealthy people don't trickle down and manifest into economic growth for the rest of us. they only increase income inequality and lower the standard of living for everyone else.

  9. James Harden would like to be traded to the city with some of the best strip clubs in the country? I'm shocked.

  10. There is one way to package Huerter with others for a bigger deal. Don't report the trade to the league. All three teams agree to the trade, then don't report it to the league. It would give the Pistons a day or two to work on a bigger trade. For example, they add Brooklyn to the deal as a fourth team but instead of Huerter going to Detroit, he goes to Brooklyn plus LeVert and picks from Detroit for MPJ. If Detroit can't work out a larger deal, the three teams just turn in the original trade to the league right before the deadline on Thursday. I'm not saying that is what is happening here. Just saying it is a possibility.

  11. I am correcting an error in my previous post. Apparently, as of the 2022 CBA, minor league players are part of the MLBPA. Starting in 2023 minor league players started to receive retirements for the first time. I would applaud any efforts in the 2027 CBA to further spread the wealth across all professional baseball players.

  12. cannot package Huerter's contract with others wish they had found a way to dump LeVert's contract Donsunmu would have been better add I think Minny got huge $ benefit from dumping Conley, and it should have cost them more

  13. Probably am underestimating Edvinsson’s ceiling a bit. I don’t think the contract is that big of a deal since absolute worst case he helps you for two years of a serious cup run. I also believe they would be able to sign him. Nobody has any idea what the brothers intentions are but I can tell you that if NJ miss the playoffs this year and next, there may be no Hughes brothers still on the team for Quinn to want to play with. I’m not going to keep beating a dead horse. It is what it is. I’ll move on from the Hughes vs. Simon debate.

  14. This is a really good idea ... ... and it's going to completely flop. Reason being, it's already the third day of February, and people are hearing about this only now. We’re already in the middle of it, so folks are gonna be, like, well, I’ve already spent money on these companies this month, so **** it. There needs to be a pre-boycott ramp-up period during which people are educated on the concept, learn how to participate, and the date it's supposed to start. It needs to be well-promoted so there’s a critical mass of awareness before the boycott actually starts. I think this should have been called for at least a month in advance.

  15. Inside baseball. Look at the hand at the 30 sec mark. The women may have been white, but the guy flipping off the car whose voice you are probably hearing is black. If you are white, you don't get to comment on the use of the word between blacks. That's just the way it is.

  26. I understand placing blame on owners when fans want the team to succeed, but some fan expectations seem unrealistic. Baseball teams are businesses and their main purpose is to make money. The A's were failing from a financial perspective which is why they are moving to Las Vegas. In a few years the As may be bringing in more revenue than the Tigers. The Ilitch family has a net worth of over $6B but that worth is not sitting in a bank account. $2.5B is the Red Wings, $1.5B is the Tigers, then there is Little Ceasars, Olympia Group, Casinos, ... To spend $1B on Tigers players, the Ilitch family would have to sell one of their businesses which I suppose could happen, but highly unlikely. The players are also not innocent in the desire for more than a person needs. The current CBA, the MLBPA agreed to, is set up so about 10 players on each team get about half the revenue generated by all MLB teams. The players union refuses to include minor league players in the union and the union deserves part of the blame for relatively underpaid younger players and relatively overpaid older players. If I hear one more free agent say he has to feed his family, I may gag. I would think you can provide for 10 wives and 50 children with $20M a year. On second thought, $20M may not be enough for 10 wives, but you could definitely feed 50 kids.

  28. Greene was 2nd in K's last year and Tork was 21st. The last thing the Tigers needed was to insert the dude with the 4th most K's into the lineup. Tigers need guys that can hit, even if it's just singles and the occasional extra base hit.

  29. We'll see, but I respectfully disagree. We have too many options to settle for disaster. Keith, Vierling, McKinstry, Baez, McGonigle, Lee, even Sweeney or Jung might figure out how to hit. Somewhere in that pile of potential there's at least an average season for Hinch to squeeze out.

  31. Because of an injury as a kid to my middle finger I can’t grip a bowling ball in the holes without it being painful. So I just always gripped the ball and chucked it. I’d hit about 150 regularly. When I was 13 a friend needed me for his league one weekend. I got on some Larry bird 3 point contest groove and had 6 or 7 strikes in a row. 230+. I shanked the 10th.

  33. Additionally, having physical restrictions, whether it be not able to stand for a length of time, or even walk to the polling places - does this somehow disqualify you from being a citizen wanted to do their civic duty? Bwcause it sure as hell feels that way

  35. If our Disruptor In Chief really wanted fair elections, he would suggest (not demand on his private social media) something like this. 1) Hand marked paper ballots. Standardized paper as to size and format. 2) Optical scanning of all ballots 3) Ballots counted when they are returned, results withheld until after election day. This includes both mail in and hand delivered early voting. 4) No pure electronic voting. 5) Standardized Audits, triggered automatically if the percentage of the vote is within certain perimeters (say 1-3%). The audits performed by independent parties (this maybe a stretch). All audit results must be transparent. No pure electronic voting. There must be a paper trail Independent and secure methods to transport ballots if moved to a central location. Heavy fines for frivolous challenges, Just a few thoughts. I have no objections to early voting, or mail in ballots. There must be cutoff dates for mail in ballots, say postmarked 10 before election day. Walk-in early voting ends the Friday before election day. I would leave most of this for the states to decide since elections are still run by the states and not the Federal Goverment,

  37. I think this is probably true. He's closing it well in advance of bulldozing so it falls off everyone's radar, people stop talking about it entirely, and then, suddenly, the bulldozers show up without warning or announcement. By the time people look up to see what's happening, the building will be half gone, the institution will have been abolished, and a grotesque replacement designed as a paean to elevating lowbrow culture will rise in its place.

  38. It also takes away voters serving in the military overseas. As well as residents of nursing homes who can't vote in person, even if transportation was provided.

  39. We've had voting machines since the mid '60s on a regular basis if not before. I would say most machines are optical readers, leaving a paper trail. Getting rid of mail in ballots disenfranchises poor citizens, Ones that cannot afford to take the time off to stand in line at a polling place, do not have the means of getting there, or have employers that will not allow time off. If you are going in that direction then declare it a national holiday, mandate that all businesses must be closed on election days and provide transportation for all who desire it. Also do away with absentee ballots. **** your planned vacation, if you want to vote, stay home. That includes all politician's as well. The only people who think the current system is rigged are the ones trying to rig it

  42. I think what people need to understand is this really isn't different than it's ever been. This is a swamp creature bankster that any administration could have picked because he is an already a vetted and approved bankster, for the banksters, and picked by the banksters, because the banksters run this stuff anyway. The rest is all BS. People have short memories. The GFC of 2008/2009. Who do they pick to fix it? Timothy "weasel ****" Geither, Larry Summers, and a few more financial ghouls. Then Ben Bernanke and Janet Yellon, more swamp creatures. The fix was in on day one, and only got worse from there. The biggest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in history. Bailed out the banksters to the tune of trillions. Giddy ****in up. And you think these wankin' ****in' banksters don't know how the fraud and corruption gets financed and moved? I'm guessing they do, cause it all has a paper trail. There are no ****ing laws and haven't been for a long time. It's a big club and we ain't in it. The beatings will continue until morale is improved.
