So you’ve got nothing and pride is preventing you from admitting that you stated a falsehood as truth. The person asserting that something was said has the onus to prove their assertion and saying “go back and read” is lazy. If you are really correct, you’ll show your proof.7 points

I hope the a-la-cart voters who are looking for the dodecahedron shaped fit for their policy concerns can look up from their navels in time to realize that policy doesn't even matter right now. We have got to vote on Democracy itself. To support anyone who opposes this autocratic movement of the hyper corrupt slip streaming behind the religious zealots and racists.3 points

Skubal is #1 and Valdez is #2. I wouldn't really assign a number to anyone else. There is is nothing in Mizes track record which sets him apart from Flaherty.3 points

During the pandemic, I started exercising at home using a series on YouTube called Body Project. It’s nice because most of the videos are only 25-45 minutes long, and you can do them completely standing up without any additional equipment. Some of the exercises are more cardio whereas others are more stretching or strength building. It’s done out of Australia, so you get to hear the Aussie accent and there’s often a bit of humor involved (especially the sessions run by the guy, Daniel). They also have their own website where you can subscribe if you want something more in depth. https://m.youtube.com/@BodyProjectchallenge2 points

I've always looked older than I was but on the whole I'm told I'm healthier than most women in their late 50s. I would say the key thing is keep moving. That's easy for me since I have an active job and live in a place where I can walk everywhere-and since I don't own a car, that's how I mostly get around. It also doesn't hurt that I love vegetables and can no longer tolerate most sweet things. I've also done weight training since I was in my teens. Things I would tell my younger self: don't overdo it with the heavy lifting, don't starve yourself to lose weight, and for the love of the Flying Spaghetti Monster don't stress yourself by trying to please people that you don't like anyway.2 points

Agree with you 100%. I retired in 2006 at 63. Now, 20 years later and having survived a major heart attack, I don't regret a think.2 points

Yes, I promise that when a candidate comes out in favor of killing spouses and your spouse gets killed I will defend you. You can book it. Until then, if a candidate promises policies that destroy our democracy and someone doesn't vote for the only other viable candidate because they didn't like a policy that didn't involve killing spouses, but otherwise didn't threaten our democracy, then I will hold them accountable by saying they helped cause the problem.2 points

Great post. I’ve been thinking this for some time. Our democracy is in jeopardy, yet many people still let what’s happening in Israel determine who gets their vote.2 points

Nobody here -- and I mean precisely zero people here -- think Verlander is gonna be the ace he was back in the day. Not a single person thinks that. Everyone -- and I mean everyone -- expects him to be a serviceable 4th/5th guy in the rotation and great influence in the locker room a la Kenny Rogers.2 points

candidate a: has chance to win, supports policy that voter thinks would result in death of spouse within 2 years. candidate b: has chance to win, supports policy that voter thinks would result in death of spouse within 2 years, but country would be better. candidate c : has no chance to win, but explicitly does not support policy that voter things would result in death of spouse within 2 years. your reasoning: everyone owes their vote to candidate b. and if you had the audacity to NOT vote for candidate B, you, not everyone who voted for Candiate A, are responsible for everything candidate A does. Me: I'm not voting to kill my spouse.2 points

Glad it wasn't more games for Stew, but 7 still hurts the team a ton. This is the toughest part of their schedule down the stretch where you want to keep your lead in the East. But, I guess it's fitting for the team that likes to give up leads and win tough games down the stretch. Looks like they'll be trying to do the same thing with their playoff standings. I would've given Bridges 6 games. One less than Stew who gets the extra one for coming off the bench. This fight doesn't get escalated without Bridges. He immediately jumped into a 2 man fight and shoved Duren. Then he ran around the crowd after Diabate was restrained and it could have been over in order to take a closed fist swing at Duren who was walking away, which is what set Stew off. Maybe I'm biased because a guy who beats his wife into the hospital should no longer have the privilege to play in the NBA, but I also feel like he was the one who took this thing from a 3 to a 10. I thought Duren should've been just 1 game, but the league needs the Knicks to win a national TV game against us, so why not toss an extra one in there.2 points

agree with all this. I don't think the Tigers are worried about the offense either. Most the key players are still either still approaching or in their primes - almost no-one on the downside other than maybe Javy and McKinstry and fair chance of adding at least one ++ hitter in McGonigle. The flip side is that other than McGonigle and Anderson I don't see a lot of depth if guys start getting hurt. Two of the "insurance policies" from last season - Baddoo and Malloy are gone. But there are no perfect teams.1 point

One thing about JV is that he has always seemed like a guy with his feet firmly planted on the ground. I can respect a guy that reported his situation with that kind of candor and tact.1 point

My wife is 53. She's been running and training for about 18 years, since our kids started school and she had free time. This year she's really gotten into "lift heavy ****". She's a therapist and says "I don't work out to look good in a swimsuit. I work out so that I can wipe my own butt when I'm 85"1 point

I hope she take three years to return and loses track of when the election is.1 point

People are excited he's back because they genuinely like the guy and he represents an era of Tiger baseball that was fun and memorable. No one expects him to be the Verlander of 2011, but if he can be the Verlander of 2025, that'd be great.1 point

A more likely scenario is Goff getting hurt while the Rams have a down season.....and the Lions trade for Stafford who then leads them to their 1st Super bowl.....IF the Tigers can win a WS with JV in the interim then all the Detroit sports fairy tales will have come true.1 point

He was a PITA to Tigers fans. Along with White, Otis, Brett, Cowens, Mayberry.....those Royals teams were GOOD.1 point

Maybe he'll let Skubal know how much happier he was playing for the Tigers and how he wished he never would have left? And Skubal will SEE the love a returning hero gets coming back to Detroit? And Skubal will tell Scott Boras to take a hike? 😆1 point

This is really cool thanks for posting. I’m glad how JV said that he was not a “mercenary.”1 point

Yes, if you don't like what you are doing or just getting too old to keep up and you have enough money saved to live reasonably comfortably, retirement is a good option. Many people have been conditioned to believe that work is the most important thing in the world. It doesn't have to be. As long as you have family, friends, hobbies, maybe some volunteering to keep you busy and somewhat stimulated, you should be OK without work.1 point

Yes, he was, slightly. Much harder to hit. Mize better with the walks. Mize might trend up, but we'll see.1 point

My post contemplates only the thinness of the case for Mize deserving his 2025 All-Star bid. I contend that even though Mize was on the All-Star team, his season fell short of being what is reasonably considered All-Star level.1 point

In the past I would have said no. People can determine which issues are most important to them and vote accordingly. It’s a very personal decision. These are unusual times. Things are so different now that policy which impacts our country, our democracy, our constitution, and ultimately our freedom needs to be the main determinant in voting. Whether you support Israel or Palestine really shouldn’t be a determining factor in the future of America.1 point

He definitely is going to be a huge fan favorite. Sellout crowds in early season starts. If he has some success, it may continue into the summer. But what can we expect? 5 to 7 innings per start of a 4 ERA? A 125 to 150 inning season? I hope nobody expects vintage JV, they will be disappointed. But, we may see flashes of his old self. Limited flashes...1 point

I've done yoga a few times and it was a great workout. My wife does it twice a week. I have nothing against it. Just the current class schedule where we go doesn't fit me. But when I did yoga I didn't even feel like I was working out. To me it was the stretches we do after our classes. But the next few days I was sore in places I didn't know I had muscles. I do not take vitamins. On my chart I said I did and at my last physical he asked if I am still doing it, and i said "Actually no... " He didn't tell me to take them. I have nothing against htem I just don't think to do it.1 point

So *you* get to proscibe the basis of others' votes too. If a politician supports policies that hurt people i care about, you and mbs opinions are irrelevant to my vote and your continued insistence otherwise is at minimum ridiculous1 point

This bill is a travesty, and specifically will cause waaaaay more issues for women voters than men. Intentionally. I've become a woman of fewer words the past couple of years. And today, my words chosen to reflect my feelings concerning today’s passage of the Save Act are these few…. scaredy-cat “men” taking creepy Steven Milller and disgusting Steve Bannon’s instructions on how to negate huge numbers of married women’s votes when they have to provide any/all official government documents to prove that if they changed their name from their original voter registration, they can “prove” who they are now. Yeah. That will be a royal pain in the ass. And what new procedures have been established to provide voter ID’s to folks that don’t drive. Or those that had sex changes. Bottom line, my message to those who passed the bill in it’s present form is this - **** you , and the horse you rode in on. I don’t really have a lot of life left to live, but I’m kind of convinced now that I’m going to have to do things that will make other people‘s lives miserable whenever I can. I will strive for that. I’ve never lived in my life that way, but I don’t really have a choice anymore. So be it.1 point

Duren's deal should be determined in part on how he does in the playoffs. when teams play defense and things matter. can he score without cade feeding him easy baskets? can he get rebounds and put backs when the other team's bigs are trying for rebounds on every possession? can he be a focal point when cade sits? can he defend the paint? if he cant - and they think he wont develop any further - then they'd be crazy to pay him. they may have already backed themselves into a corner so it might not even matter. what's the alternative? could they even do a sign and trade?1 point
-
He’s probably going to be in between Cy Young and Charlie Morton. Any commentary about him is going to be shoved to one side or the other. His game starts might need to be moved to the political section.1 point

Charlotte would be a nice spot for Sochan. He would instantly be their best point of attack defender. Knicks and Nuggets would be a decent fit as well.1 point

My mom had advanced dementia for 9 years and my dad had heart failure for 17 years (although he did remarkably well and didn't suffer a lot). I was in charge of their health care, especially for the last 9 years. My mom was in a rehab place for a few months and was mostly neglected, so I pulled her out of there and took her home and vowed to never ley her go to another home. The agency home health aides were ridiculously expensive (and the aides were not getting much of that money! It was all "administrative cots"), so I decided I would handle their health care privately and cheaply and at home where my parents would feel comfortable. Since I was still working full-time, I hired live-in home health aides from Africa and Haiti for about 65k per year which is actually dirt cheap for dementia care where I live. Dealing with aides was annoying and stressful, but they took better care of my mom than she would have gotten in a home. I took care of my dad as best as I could. This whole experience was the most stressful thing I have ever been through, but I am so glad I kept them out of homes and let them live their final years with some dignity. It's also really good that I can live the rest of my life without guilt (at least not from that!) and know that I did my best.1 point
