That’s why you sign Campbell to an extension. Same with Gibbs. Those 5 th year options aren’t cheap. You can create more immediate space signing them now than waiting. Gibbs contract is going to set the market. Do it before the Falcons set the market with Robinson.3 points

I have a funny: I'm at my pickleball class with my spouse. The overbearing instructor who is really annoying me by stopping the flow of the class every 5 minutes with an observation like: "Does anyone know why its called a backhand?" and I'm at the point where i'm Bill Murraying the thing now. "Did they name it after Doctor John Backhand?" Anyway...he's stopping us to talk about buying our own racquets. The one lady tells him that she used AI to identify which one to buy and I said: "Did it tell you to bomb Iran?" and the instructor guy was not happy with that. Everyone else laughed though. Last class for me...2 points

That 2nd half defense was about as good as I've seen the Pistons play all season. Championship caliber defense.2 points

Gibbs is at worst the 3rd best back in the league and among the top 10 best offensive players in the league. This is not a player that you let go in his prime. Injury appears to be the only thing that will stop him from having at least 4 hugely productive years for the Lions. You can’t plan for that to happen especially with a player that has been very healthy to this point of his career. The sooner they sign him the cheaper it will be. Do it now before it gets really, really expensive.1 point

A second contract right now absorbs his next year, 5th year, and Franchise tag... And is probably cheaper. It may increase some exposure/ risk... But (a) I don't think by a significant amount, (b) a 3-4-5 year extension right now will be less costly than if: after he plays the next 3 years under 5th year and Franchise, and then is determined to warrant a 5-year contract ON TOP of that... (c) the cost today will be a LOT less than the cost in a year or two or three... IMO. You're taking a big risk on churn and burn. He may beat both of those. I think he is more valuable taking that risk, NOW, rather than hoping we can read correctly what he is worth in 3 years. Just my 2 cents.1 point

Hard to get a gauge on Mahogany. He looked good in 24 and not very good in 25. He dealt with injuries both years too. Not sure what he is at the moment. It’s good they give themselves options.1 point

A short and “serious” talk (3 minutes?) from the president about the Iran action, and the four dead servicemen. —- segue to —— Immediately ….. followed with smiles and chuckles, and talks about his golden curtains, and the grand ballroom being built that Melania doesn’t like the sound of the construction people This mother****er does not give a **** about any member of the military dying. And if they’re smiling and applauding him in that room, shame on them too.1 point

For anyone who has paid the slightest attention to DJT's career, he's always felt slighted. Even in his own family, he was the second son, the trouble maker, only to recieve a bit of attention when his brother left the family business. He was never accepted by NYC's "elite" society. Given that he's obviously a deeply troubled narcissist, it's not surprising what is happening today. Not just with Iran, but his entire presidency. He's basically attracting the same sort of people that resemble him1 point

I hope not. Teaching him a midrange jumper would be a bad idea. Never mind it's the least efficient shot in all basketball, It's where your star player makes his living. Don't put another body in that area and crowd his space. It also does zero to alleviate the spacing issues. Duren standing around 10-12 feet to shoot a jumper leaves his defender well within help distance of anyone driving. He needs to be out 25 feet drawing their big away from the hoop. 3 point shot only, do not teach him a midrange jumper.1 point

Love the group setting. I’m working in the middle of nowhere for a year long assignment. Very isolating. This community is getting me through it. Dying in the daily workout is my favorite part of the day! At the world premiere of 26.1, only two of the four “fittest people in the world” got through the entire workout. Not me lol My quads feel it today!1 point

Why would you care? There are no leftist in the military. I have four active duty military in my immediate family. I ran a tour through Afghanistan and one through Iraq. We know what it takes. Spare me your keyboard soul searching.1 point

I would pay Ausar before Duren, but I wouldn't give him a max deal either. But a wing defender is much more valuable that a center that can't shoot. Ausar can guard the other teams best offensive player about 95% of the time. I think people really sleep on that skill. He can guard Jalen Brunson to Luka and everyone in-between. The few guys he can't guard are Victor or Jokic. But other than SA and Denver, Ausar will guard every other title contenders best offensive player.1 point

Yes, Montgomery was upset about a lack of carries. Yes, he probably said use me or trade me. Yes, the Lions probably said we want to keep you but if you insist on a trade we will honor it. Yes, the Lions want to establish that they are not going to cut him or give him away. Unsaid in the whole thing is that the Lions didn't go away from him because they think he lost a step. They went away from him because their offensive efficiency went way down, as did their total number of carries overall. They were relying on Gibbs to try to manufacture offense because their OL and blocking schemes were trash. I doubt he will be traded and I hope he is not.1 point

I think it started with Branch Rickey. If that is true, I can believe that there was some sophisticated math involved. The scouts wouldn't have to know the math in order to use it.1 point

https://blogs.fangraphs.com/scouting-explained-the-20-80-scouting-scale/ This and many other places say it comes from standard deviations. However, I have a hard time believing the scouting demographic was pushing up their glasses and citing standard deviation when it started being used.1 point
