  3. I agree that the CBA and potential work stoppage are factors that are influencing this process. If you are Boras, you are advising your client to test the market before a salary cap is possibly introduced. If you are Ilitch, you are not going to bid against yourself in a situation where mega contracts may become obsolete. Finally, I don’t believe for a second that Boras is in charge of Skubal’s decision. One does not become the best in a highly competitive field by being stupid, lazy, or passive. Skubal will make his own decision.

  4. My reading on Trump's "negotiation" is a little different (although the pump and dump scheme is a legitimate possibility as well). I read the threat as a way to pump up his base and the "negotiation" is an off ramp so he doesn't look cowardly as Iran calls his bluff.

  6. Trump has this animal brilliance at hypnotizing his supporters into simply accepting a retcon of everything that has ever happened in the past each time he speaks. Think about the monumental contradiction in the claims that we and the Israeli's bombed Iran's nuclear capability to smithereens in June, but then we must turn around in March and fight another war because they are "2 weeks away" from 'the bomb'. This is not some trivial difference of opinion on a debating point nicety. It's life and death reality for thousands and chaos for millions. You can't have a mind that functions at anything like post Neanderthal level and still believe anything Trump vomits into his social media sewer, yet here we are.

  7. AMERICAN LEAGUE East 2 - Toronto 92-70 I don't think they are an automatic in this division 4- Baltimore 88-74 I see a big big rebound for this young and improving team. 5 New York 87-75 This version of the Yankees is boring, but good. Boston 85-77 - This team could win the division or could finish last Tampa Bay 75-87 - I think the magic has run out and uncertainty hurts the team Central 3 - Detroit 88-74 I don't see this as a lock, but it's a weak divisioin 6 - Kansas City 87-75 - I could see KC winning the division, Witt's going to have a monster year Cleveland 82-80 - Hanging around, always hanging around Chicago 69-93 - A lot of small, but good moves with a decent manager Minnesota 62-100 - This whole thing's a mess. For sale just before a CBA expiring. Good luck there. West 1 -Seattle 95-67 - This is clearly the best team in the West, but Cal won't repeat what he did in 2025 Texas 85-77 - They've been underachieving for two years, now water finds it's level Houston 82-80 - The tank is slowly draining....Drip, Drip, Drip Sacramento 79-83 - They could surprise - some great young hitters Los Angeles 57-105 -Rename yourself California Angels and consider going somewhere out of the Dodgers' shadow. AL MVP - Bobby Witt Jr., Kansas City AL Cy Young - Bryan Woo ,Seattle AL Rooke Of the Year - Sammy Basallo, Baltimore AL Comeback Player - Mike Trout, Los Angeles/Baltimore 3 - Detroit over 6 Kansas City in 3 games 5 - New York over 4 Baltimore in 3 games 2 Torotno over 3 Detroit in 4 games 1 Seattle over 5 New York in 5 games 1 Seattle over 2 Toronto in 6 games NATIONAL LEAGUE East 3 - New York 89-73 - Finally some good luck breaks their way 5- Atlanta 88-74 - Last year was Murphy's Year for them 6- Philadelphia 87-75 - Cracks are starting to show Miami 75-87 - Yeah, they exist and that's about it Washington 64-98 - They are on their own baseball version of the Yzerplan Central 2-Brewers 91-71 - They just win. Go ahead and doubt them 4-Cubs 89-73 - Tucker for Bregman is about the same. Pirates 83-79 - Those fans derseve to have it come together. Donnie Kelly, Baby. Reds 80-82 - They had a quietly good year last year, they might again this year Cardinals 70-92 - I can't remember the Cardinals being this down for this long West 1- Los Angeles 97-65 - Something's gotta go wrong for them, doesn't it? Please??? Arizona 86-76 - If they can get healthy, they've got some talent San Diego 83-79 - the window is closed, but they gave it a shot San Francisco 81-81 - They've been between 79 and 81 wins 4 years now, why not a 5th Colorado 54-108 - The team is terrible, but still sells more tickets than half the league (including the Tigers) NL MVP - Corbin Carroll, Diamondbacks (Ohtani gets injured in July) NL Cy Young - Paul Skenes, PiratesNolan McLean, Mets JJ Wetherholt, Cardinals NL Comeback - Luis Robert Jr, NY Mets 6 Philadelphia over 3 New York 5 Atlanta over 4 Chicago 1 Los Angeles over 6 Philadelphia 2 Milwaukee over 1 Los Angeles 1 Los Angeles over 2 MIlwaukee World Series Seattle over Los Angeles - because someone has to stop them.

  8. They offered me 2 free tickets to any game that takes place between March and July 1 2027 (get it?)

  9. If you signed up before March 13 they are supposed to send an email to redeem two tickets to a game. Maybe check your spam folder? It was on the Tigers Facebook page. I'm out of market so I just have mlb.tv.

  11. We do our yearly fantasy football draft at Twin Peaks in Livonia (Haggerty and 6 that CMR was referencing). They actually have surprisingly good food. I think they are a solid step up from an Applebees, Chilis, Friday's type of restauraunt. No, they aren't Joe Muers, Selden Standard, or Grey Ghost, but they have good food at Twin Peaks.

  12. Hey everybody, bad news. If we **** with Trump Kid Rock is going to be mad and we're going to have to **** with him. I don't like the sounds of ****ing with a guy the size, stature, and intellect of Kid Rock. Sounds very serious. Sounds like someone could really get hurt ****ing around with Romeo's own Robert Ritchie. Mods, can we please delete this thread and any other posts that may have ****ed with Trump? I don't want to be ****ed with by Robert Ritchie. Thank you!

  13. Can you imagine the outcry from the right if department heads from the Obama, Biden or even the Clinton Administrations had posted stuff like this on line. Our country is now being run by guys (mostly) who are still into video games they played when they were teenagers... https://bsky.app/profile/sarahposner.bsky.social/post/3mhqiinicrc2j

  14. Today is the anniversary of the first manned Gemini flight. Gemini 3, with Grissom and John Young. John Young is the "astronaut's astronaut". He's the only person to pilot 4 vehicles, a Gemini capsule, An Apollo capsule, the Lunar Module, and the Space Shuttle, two missions in each program. He flew the first space shuttle mission which was probably the most experimental flight we've ever done in space. What I liked about Gemini 3 is that the backup commander Wally Schirra gave John Young a corned beef sandwich to sneak on the flight. Once in orbit he pulled it out but they quickly realized htat wasn't a good idea. Crumbs began floating and could have gotten stuck in the switches. They got some hell for it but obviously didn't hurt their reputations as they're both legends.

  16. It's his favorite time frame. His health care plan, in 2017, was coming out in 2 weeks. We're still waiting. He promised, in 2026, to release his taxes in 2 weeks. And he never did release them. Just lies to cover lies he told to cover other lies. Sense a pattern? Yeah, he's a liar.

  18. He's backed down today in another bid to freeze the markets crashing, and the fools have fallen for it every time. The constant "I'm attacking/I'm negotiating" is certainly a pure pump and dump scheme to keep lining his and Jared's pockets.

  19. I have never closed the door on Skubal, either. He may not even want to go to Dodgers. Unless something dramatic happens during the season that changes the calculation, I think the possibility of his return will remain an open question until the decision is actually made. It’s hard for us to get our arms fully around this idea, because of the way we’d been conditioned during the years prior to his arrival, but Scott Harris is not predictable as Al Avila was. We can’t know what Harris is going to decide months in advance, and he won’t blab about it in any event.

  23. Maybe I’m naive, but I don’t believe the door is closed on Skubal. Call up McGonigle and demonstrate to Skubal that Dee-troit baseball is a serious contender for the foreseeable future.

  28. Kevin McGonigle is a sign of how far the team has come in the last few years. We are discussing him making the team on OD as a kid, in the bad old days we would have been focused, at least a little, on the possibility that an Austin Slater, or Julks, would be a contributor.
    1 point
  29. Ok so the argument against McGonigle making the team is he needs AB’s against off speed pitches but will he actually even see any good pitchers in AAA that can command those pitches?? I think he just has to go through the learning curve in the Majors to adjust and he has the swing, set up and mental strength to do so and the Tigers know this He will be in San Diego

  33. yup. because he doesnt do what most teams loom for in a defensive end: consistent pressure. the lions look for different abilities. crush the pocket, set the edge. one might say the lions are playing moneyball. i woukd argue - and i think you would agree - that they need a pure pass rusher for third down and long.
