  1. I miss when games were primarily on Saturday afternoons instead of Saturday evenings. I'd rather be watching it right now while doing other things around the house, then go out tonight without feeling compelled to check my phone for scores. Also, even less of a fan of Sunday night games.

  2. I understand he took Ausar out for spacing on offense. Still not a fan of it. Reed earned game 4 minutes IMO.

  3. I agree with this. Norms of behavior change over time and are often driven by public figures such as entertainers and politicians. The president, as a representative of the United States, certainly has a role in shaping that behavior. I hear a lot of Trump suuporters say that his personailty and bahevior don't matter as long as he "gets things done". I have told Republican friends about the importance of the president as a role model and they say it doesn't matter and that children's morals and ethics come from the church. That's right, the same church that supports everything Trump does! Don't worry, I also make it clear to them that his policies suck as much as his personality.

  12. But they are not in a contract negotiation right now, so what's the hoped-for gain here? Whether Skubal comes back in late June, late July, late August, or whenever this season, he still will have to perform at a Cy Young-level to get that max contract. And if he comes out and pitches meh, will teams go back to Heyman's tweet and say, well, this here says the surgery was more than successful, so let's go ahead and give him the extra three years and $150MM? I don't see that happening. And if he were not to make it back at all this season, then Heyman's tweet will be exposed as a lie. So I'm struggling to see where the money in this tweet is for Skubal and Boras?

  15. well whatever you want to call it, it is about giving people back a sense of control over their lives. IMO the greatest danger to the constitution order is people deciding they don't care about the niceties because it's not working for them anyway. What good is a constitution that's supposed to guarantee your liberty if you feel like you are living the life of a slave?

  17. I don’t disagree. But they seem hell bent on keeping him around despite the slim skill set he has. Actually, I wonder if there’s too much pride in keeping players of his ilk around too long. He was successful in his role as DH vs LHP last season. Great. In the grand scheme of roster build, how valuable is that given other concerns with the roster? What are the odds of a duplicate season?

  18. Of course not now, but he ran as the progressive. He was endorsed in the primary by Bernie Sanders. Fetterman supported Bernie Sanders presidential campaign. Fetterman distanced himself from progressives after he got elected. This isn't debatable. He ran as a progressive.

  19. Colt Keith is having a super weird year. He’s hitting .321 and his wRC+ is 113 even after yesterday, so it’s not as though he’s collapsing, but he’s in this weird sort of purgatory where his contact quality is actually the best of his career in term of hard hits, but two things are suppressing his results: (1) a launch angle drop to 9.7 that’s turning potential home runs into hard grounders and line drives, and (2) literally zero home run luck on his fly balls. His xSLG is .451 vs his actual SLG of .387, which should suggest a comeback, but his SLG has trailed his xSLG his entire career, just never like this. It’s a real question whether that drop is the result of instructional intention, since the Tigers are one of the more line-drivey teams in the majors; whether pitchers are exploiting his weakness at hitting sliders more systematically lately; and whether his more passive approach at the plate this year (much lower strikeout AND walk rate) is a slump artifact or a real change. Everything about his individual and expected metrics screams inevitable comeback, but man, it sure is hard to watch while we’re waiting.

  22. Why can't McKinstry play shortstop ? Do we NEED Short ? I say it's time to make some position decisions and let them play. Tork-Lee-McStinky- McGonigle -Dingler -IF , Greene-Verling-Carpenter(gulp) OF and Keith DH. Play them everyday until injured players return. There isn't any now or future with Perez - Jones or Short. We really miss Meadows and Baez for defense. Until then just put the best defenders in the field and let Carpenter-Keith and Lee play everyday . But only Carpenter in RF and Keith only DH.

  26. that contract is looking a little less favorable for the Tigers this season.Definitely counter expectation that a player that should be developing more power at this point in his career has seen his ISO go basically to zero. Superficially, one would argue that much like Riley's shift last season to the super uppercut, Colt's shift this season to the super short approach has been an over compensation. Last season Riley did hit more HR's but became a worse hitter and is having to fight back from that now. Colt has gotten his AVG and OBP up but so far at too high a cost in ISO. Hopefully Keith can make an in season adjustment to get to a better compromise instead of this being his MO for the whole season.

  28. When you have to resort to having Zack Short on your roster - your team is not good. But we have 10 SS prospects, but none of them are ready. My whole adult life the Tigers were weak on position prospects and loaded with potential MLB pitchers. Total opposite now. Loads of position guys and few pitchers close to being ready. And the most frustrating part of it is that they wasted a VERY good start tonight. It's happened way too often already this year. But............always remember, we're in the AL Central. You could win this with 80-84 wins.

Similarly the pistons players who scored baskets helped the pistons win a game much more than the people who scored baskets for cleveland
