That's ridiculous.  You could say they are pressing, but nobody wants the season to be done.

I think he’s referring to a passionate episode in the locker room where things gets smashed with bats and players yell and drop f-bombs to the media.

Riley Greene’s WAR according to BR is 2.5 this year and was 5.4 last year. I know his OBP is lower this year. What’s going on?

It’s a little of everything. Walk rate is down so his wRC+/OPS+ is down. Base running is worse. Fielding is worse. Plus he played less CF this year, so he loses a couple tick for positional.

FWIW, Fangraphs has him at 4.0 last year and 2.9 this year.

Russell Branyan's career %s were 32 & 11.

This year for Greene is strikingly close to Branyan's career avg. No one but Kingman could hit them higher and farther though when connected.

I think you are confusing two different posters.  Monkeytargets wants the f-bombs.  Tigers202 says they are aren't trying and want to go home.  I'd like to see the f-bombs just for entertaiment purposes.

Yeah I mean…..if we are gonna collapse, I’d feel a lot better if they expressed some anger about it as competitors rather than just going full Minnesota Twins

The Tigers beat the Yankees in the first 2 games of that series, scoring double digit runs. Ever since those 2 wins, we're 1-9. What happened during that last NY game that jinxed us? Was a curse put on us by an evil demon in attendance?

I know what you’re doing. The toes are on the line. Knock it off.

Looking like a perfect 6-0 final week.  I’ll take it.

All we need to do is win the next three and we win the division.

But the point is we fell off a cliff after 2 huge wins. I would never have guessed that was about to happen. I just hope this losing doesn't bleed into next season, the way our winning continued this season from last year. It really is a remarkable turnaround. And quick.

I tied the collapse to my being hiatus, ironically enough.   I think the most likely conspiratorial answer is that a lot of fan money was on bets that we would win the WS and someone has manipulated events to win those bets.   But this isn't wrestling and there is no way to do that because nobody ever fixes games.

The thing that matters is what can be fixed in this season and next.

This season, they need to reset Riley Greene to factory settings and perhaps tell him to hit like our best player.

They finally got rid of Morton at great personal grief to Hinch.   Not having SP to step into the Olson spot or even the Jobe spot hurt.  Paddack being a muppet as a SP hurt.

You can say they lost this division when they didn't acquire a better BP but Finnegan was good until he broke.

I think they needed another veteran bat but where and who?

I've already regrouped and am ready for next year.  They need to get a #2 SP and another Gleyber Torres level hitter in the offseason.

Harris and Hinch haters, rejoice:

FYI, this appears to be a stolen article, since it was written by Cody Stavenhagen for the Athletic and neither are credited within.

I stopped wearing the Tiger cap I bought in early July about a week into the post 7/4 slump. Unfortunately it hasn't helped. I'm too cheap to burn it however.

Just in case I'm refraining from wearing my Lions gear. Sticking to my Irish driving cap. Unfortunately the Joo Joo hasn't changed. My apologies

It's objectively true as catalogued in this article that some of their roster decisions on pitchers have turned out to be  wrong. No org is going to get it right all the time but Harris and Co have gotten enough wrong this season that it's hurting. Add that to the  pitching injuries and they just can't pitch like they did down the stretch last season. That actually doesn't bother me that much. In modern sports with every athlete trained to a fine edge, and especially pitchers in baseball,  you are going to have seasons where because of injuries alone the best laid plans gang aft agley.

What bothers me more is the way the hitting has gone south. Too many guys seem to be going up there without a plan or with the wrong plan or too tight to execute a plan. Doesn't seem to comport with Hinch's mantras.

Agreed. A RH hitting 3rd baseman and a quality SP. Not someone coming off of injury or some bottom feeding teams rejects but a top notch quality pitcher. And a couple of strong bullpen arms. Next season is a wide open window that very well may close if Skubal decides to split. I don't have very much faith that Harris can get this done. His trades and free agent signings have been....underwhelming. (and that's being nice.)

They have been sleep walking through the last week.  Not hustling, not executing simple fundamentals.

The drop-off was a sudden, fall off a cliff type. Two huge, double digit offensive outbursts in New York following by a 1-9 streak. Nobody really saw this struggle coming. Fans follow this team for 7 months this year only to have the last month knock the wind out of our sails. Pitchers forgot how to pitch and hitters stop hitting. All suddenly.

He's going to have to give up something to get something back so there is lot of potential for disaster. Which goes back to the fact that the pitching pipeline that Avila built has dried up. We knew a lot of those guys wouldn't pan out, which is why we needed to have a lot of them. After Melton,  AA or AAA look pretty bare of top flight arms. Last time I looked our highest ranked pitching prospect was #10 in the org (Hamm) and he's 2-5 with an almost 5 ERA. That's not going to cut it.
