I'm about 90% sure the cocaine was dropped by a MAGA Republican trying to create a scandal.

The thing about this is that it is very very difficult to believe the Republicans would manufacture a scandal.  Would be very unprecedented.

He's never been in a Diary Queen or a Burger King or any place like that except for campaigning. When he wants fast food, somebody gets it for him.  The regular guy thing is all BS, but everyone falls for it.

He says food for everyone, then stiffs them. Just like his contractors in his building days

They. Won’t. Care.

there is an excellent piece by David French in the NYT about why the MAGA's are so attached to Trump (and also why DeSantis will fail.) He zeroes on the community/belonging aspect. What their critics miss is that the MAGA's always have a great time when they are together (what DeSantis doesn't provide)  - a Trump rally is one part politics but two parts block party.

Quote

Why do none of your arguments against Trump penetrate this mind-set? The Trumpists have an easy answer: You’re horrible, and no one should listen to horrible people. Why were Trumpists so vulnerable to insane stolen-election theories? Because they know that you’re horrible and that horrible people are capable of anything, including stealing an election.

At the same time, their own joy and camaraderie insulate them against external critiques that focus on their anger and cruelty. Such charges ring hollow to Trump supporters, who can see firsthand the internal friendliness and good cheer that they experience when they get together with one another. They don’t feel angry — at least not most of the time. They are good, likable people who’ve just been provoked by a distant and alien “left” that many of them have never meaningfully encountered firsthand.

I feel like this nails the mentality we’ve alluded to…

I was a fan of JFK/RFK. They were capable. Jackie kept her kids in line. Caroline stepped out for a minute to consider running for Senate, realized she was out of her league, and honorably went back to doing her thing.

Look up the RJK/Reagan debate.  It's not really a debate between them as it is them and Vietnam skeptics.  It's fun to watch.  RFK ripped into his staff afterwards for what he thought was lack of preparation for what he'd walked into.  Reagan was impressive.

Joe Sr deserves to be in the same bin as other isolationist fellow travelers of the nazis.  Joe Jr. died honorably in a high risk mission (of course he got a tv movie made about him for it).   JFK wrote the book "while England Slept" while he was in London with his Dad...an indicator that he was not a fan of what was happening in Europe.  He serves honorably and becomes a staunch opponent of Communism while in office.

I've always noted that the worst offenders in the Kennedy clan appear to have embarrassed children about those offenses.
