  1. A 3rd round pick for not re-signing Kenny Golladay seems like highway robbery right about now.

  3. I see a difference between a rhetorical “shut up” as a argumentative device… like “ you are an idiot, you don’t know what you are talking about” vs “you shouldn’t be speaking up. It’s not your place. The adults are talking. You are just an athlete or movie star. You aren’t a serious person like us pundits on TV who study this all day”. The first is just ball busting among friends. The second is not and that’s what I see the ingraham types inferring to Lebron.

  4. fair enough - I really wasn't thinking about this law in particular as much as the concept of sanctioning an elected official who is dishonest in an official administrative (as opposed to political) capacity. The question of what to do about candidates - or for that matter elected political leaders that lie is a another question. It's basically something that the society has completely let get away from itself. Back in the day, there was a kind of standard about bald faced lying in office. You certainly could always get away with a ton of shading of reality, but there was still a level of of denial of reality that held. It was still strong enough 50 yrs ago that Nixon was forced from office over it, but for me there was a real turning point with Clinton. Regardless of whether it was a question that never should have been asked or the topic was irrelevant to his official duties, allowing him to remain in office after having lied under oath was simply a terrible civic precedent to set and IMO has made any kind of political truth telling standard impossible ever since. The irony is that he could have admitted everything and still would have left office with high approval ratings and Al Gore as President. In my book he turned out to be a great fool in the end. And I think our politics has paid a price ever since. I wish I knew how to put that toothpaste back in the tube.

  6. the law attempts to ban speech by candidates for public office, not just public officials. that's a first amendment violation. moreover, what is a "lie" about election results? did hillary clinton lie when she questioned the legitimacy of trump's victory? did stacey abrams lie when she said kemp's win was not legitimate? i am not making an equivalence between what trump did and what hillary and abrams did. but when you pass a vague law like that, you open up the possibility of one party using it against its political enemies. i think its unnecessary and could be extremely damaging.

  7. Right, people can dislike Biden's presidential performance all they want, but to consider his behavior to be anything remotely like Trump is dishonest at the very least.

  8. Doocy is a professional and asked a fair and serious question. He didn't act anything like Acosta from CNN who tried to act like he was the most important person in the room. I'm sure most of you support Acosta and his unprofessional antics. Anyway, what about Biden's claim about how everyone will be treated with respect or they won't work for him? Biden is the one who was in the wrong and made himself look even worse if thats possible. The only difference between Biden and Trump is Trump got things done.

  9. Stock prices plummeted at an alarming rate this morning, because of the shocking weakness of the economy under Joe Biden's mismanagement. In afternoon trading, the strong economy left in place by Donald Trump caused stock prices to post positive results for the day.

  10. I haven't heard any of Neil Young's stuff about GMO's. My objection is that you can't save some of your seeds to plant next year's crop, which we have been doing for about 10,000 years. Those seeds belong to Monsanto, you have to buy seed from them every year. Not that some farmers weren't already doing this anyway before GMO, if you are growing some sort of hybrid crop you were probably already buying seed from a big seed company every year. But that was a choice that the individual farmer could make. With Monsanto there is no choice, and if they detect some of their GMO DNA in your crop they will sue you. So, yields are higher but there is a new layer of debt every spring that has been added to the business model of agriculture in India among other places.

  11. To be clear, in case it wasn’t, my comment about him being OC was in jest. I think the most likely role for Payton next year is on FOX or NBC. I think some of it is burnout, but is easy to be burned when you’re standing as close to a dumpster fire as he is. The Saints need to press the reset button in a major way. With what he’s done with them over the last 16 years, he’s earned the right to say that he doesn’t want to be the HC of a team that goes 2-15, even if it’s needed. if any NFL team picked him up for any role, the Saints would have to be compensated. I don’t think there is any way around that that isn’t shady and doesn’t come with the possibility of penalties if the NFL found out. He’s under contract with the Saints until he isn’t. While I would think that the Lions or whoever adding him as a consultant should cost less than the Cowboys or whoever hiring him as HC, I don’t know if there is anything (except knowledge that gaining something is better than nothing) to stop the Saints from asking for whatever their heart desires. I agree that it’s worth Campbell picking up the phone and talking to his old friend at the very least, even if he knows the answer before it starts ringing.

  17. He'll be back in a year or two. Brees is gone and the Saints are in a terrible mess salary cap wise. He probably decided to bail on that train wreck. My prediction, barring some Super Bowl run, Mike McCarthy is fired and Payton is brough back to Dallas.

  18. It is a lousy logo. I mean the guardians of traffic are pretty cool looking on that bridge, you think they could have done better.......... But the worst logo - in the history of sports - belongs right here in the D The sad, confused tiger that needed serious dental work. How did this even happen?

  19. Why in the world would Payton step away from head coach to be an offensive coordinator? On top of that, he is still under contract with the Saints so the Lions would need to give the Saints compensation.

  23. Prospect porn time, non-Swedish Hanas is having a really solid season after the Wings took him as an over-ager. Not sure if he looks like an impact NHLer but if he keeps developing who knows Seems to be mostly lamented as a nepotism pick, Draper will be headed to a good program at Michigan. I thought it was nice to see some tape of him there Mastro has been popping up with some strong play + nice goals. He always needed to add size to his frame so his college development is going to be big. Phillips is a guy who I definitely forget about, I remember being excited for these two joining up at BU. He had two goals in this game. And finally a little Swedish love: Edvinsson is back practicing which is good to hear

  24. Who cares if he did or not? Trump was the biggest jackwagon of a president we ever had. He treated people like dirt... I appreciate Biden showing he is human.

  25. BTW, unlike Trump, Biden actually personally called Peter Doocy and apologized to him for the remark. An apology is something not in Trump's lexicon.

  28. Oh, he’s talented, no question. And you’re right, he could be a matchup nightmare for the opposition. But he can’t shoot. And I would say he’s probably a headcase. I think that’s a bad combination for a young team to acquire.

  31. he's a very good passer and an elite defender. he's tall and long. play him as a rim running 4 on a small ball lineup with a good shooting 5. he'd be perfect in that role. if you defend him with a small guard, you can send your center out high and post simmons up. if you defend him with a big, he can blow by him. he'd be great in denver with jokic. he'd be good in detroit with someone like olynyk. but detroit is not in the position to be giving up young players for a guy like simmons with his massive contract. definitely wouldnt trade bey, but might deal stewart. but i would never give up a #1 pick for him, which detroit couldnt do anyway because they have a future 1 promised to houston. the only way detroit can give a #1 to philly is if they deal for someone else's and then give that #1 to them.

  35. Oh, then he and some of the other players will start caterwauling about collusion. He is the best SS on the market but I think any team that signs him to 10/350 is going to regret that deal and in the not too distant future. He's not a superstar. Neither is Seager and Neither is Semien. It will be really funny to see the Rangers and Mets not make the playoffs next year (unless they get really stupid and invite 8 teams in).

  36. This is dems trying to play the racist card again. Nowhere did they say anything about race or anything that is even remotely racist. Gilchrist is wearing a mask and to that person he is scary because of his politics. Most people like me would agree. Democrats love to keep racism alive and well so they can try to use it in their favor. It didn't work this time.
