  2. My guess is that it's a joint venture between the two.... but that it makes sense that Hinch would like the idea of Willi Castro as well. From the Hinch perspective, the love affair with Willi Castro makes a lot of sense when you remember the role that Marwin Gonzalez played on all those winning Houston teams he had in the late '10s.... at least at the time anyway, Marwin could get you a solid .700-.800 range OPS with very good defense at any number of positions. At least in theory, Willi could be that guy.... except for the fact that he isn't good at defense and has generally been not good with the bat since the COVID 2020 year.

  8. I think it's important we know how crazy that side is instead of burying our heads. Perhaps you can just take a break and go outside and smell the flowers.

  10. Unless Biden is dead or severely ill, he will be the candidate and it would be foolish to try to mount a legitimate primary against him. It's also risky in Pennsylvania to give up a senate seat like that. I would rather keep that seat if Fetterman wins.

  14. For as big of groomers as the Democrats are suppose to be, they sure can't seem to groom young candidates. The top 3 candidates for president were all over 70.

  18. Let’s not go crazy here. We don’t want to use up all our runs for the month like we did when we scored 13.

  22. I think were just running up against logistics here. We have two games today. Austin Meadows is DH in game one. Grossman and Hill play their usual outfield slots. Beyond the rest of the starting lineup we have Tork, Miggy, Haase and Willi, and neither Tork or Miggy are playing left. That means either Willi or Haase in left. Barnhart is catching game one, which means he’s not catching game two. The only other catcher on the team is Haase, and they’re not going to play Haase in game one in left if they’re planning to have him catch in game two. That leaves Willi as the only option for left in game one. It’s the limitation of the roster especially if 15 of your 27-man roster is pitching.

  23. If you are good enough from early age to be a short stop, and you don't actually spend the time playing around in the OF also, you will miss that development. It's odd, there is a hierarchy of difficulty in playing the positions around the diamond, but just because you can play a harder one doesn't necessarily mean you can play an easier one, sometimes there is just a hole in your skill set when you reach adulthood, and some skills are harder to develop as an adult. So on one side you have Robin Yount or even Don Kelly who could play anywhere well. OTOH, Schoop is a very good 2b. 1b is 'easier' to play but he is a terrible 1b. Now I would say that since it's mostly footwork, given the time, Schoop has a much higher chance of becoming a good 1b than Willi has of becoming a good OF.

  24. Nothing is impossible! Let's have a 64-candidate field starting in the summer and do brackets through November. Americans love playoffs and brackets. Must see TV.

  28. draft lottery night! the wings are currently slotted 8th, have a very small chance to move up to 1 or 2, and can pick no lower than 10th. prediction: they somehow end up picking 11th.

  31. The pitching has been good. The Tigers need to find out if Chris Fetter has a twin brother that knows coaching hitting. Baez on defense is fun. You want to talk about unwatchable, the previous SS play that the Tigers had is unwatchable compared to what Baez has done in his short time as a Tiger.

  32. Probably right. But I really can't be that mad at Schoop because that first pitch 6 inches below the strike zone means that you have to swing to protect on that. He never stood a chance after that, even the best hitters in the league would struggle if sliders that far below the strike zone were getting called. It's pretty unprofessional. The Tigers did deserve to lose tonight, but that still sucks

  33. yeah - there needs to be a protest filed with the league office. They don't go anywhere but someone needs to go on record.

  35. I think what he's trying to get out at the public level is that the Russian infiltration of the party has been more longstanding and endemic through it's consultants and lobbyists than just the Trump episode. But that is superimposed on a private feud with Meagan I haven't followed at all and don't care about either. She obviously want to keep dad on a pedestal to she can bath in the reflected light so she hasn't liked Schmidt putting the blame for things like Palin back on McCain.
