  1. There is a different feeling in the clubhouse this Spring that wasn't their last year. There is a strong team chemistry and winning attitude. Victor Reyes put on 15 pounds of muscle and has a new swing. This is the year he hits 30 home runs. Miguel Cabrera lost 20 pounds over the winter and is in the best shape of his life.

  2. She is very easy to love. She's the happiest and sweetest dog. And she has settled in here like she's lived here forever. I bought a camera to watch her when I am at work and she mostly lays in the bed or lays in the bay window. She doesn't seem to have separation anxiety (she'd been homeless and then in a kennel for several months). She knows she's got it good here, because she does.

  3. people actually answer their phones when it's a number they don't recognize? I just hit the button. If I do answer as soon as I hear a delay or unfamiliair voice I just hang up. I get a text every few days from a number that just says "Hi". I reply back with a photo of a drunk shirtless guy I took at the Def Leppard/Crue concert.

  5. Robbie with an other Ofer last night. Wonder if Hinch and Coolbaugh snicker at that shit?

  6. I'd leave him. Don't let Coolbaugh near him. Start over again next spring.

  7. I don't get the point of playing him when the knee is not good. Completely pointless. I find it hard to believe he doesn't know once he warms up each day whether he is going to be able to drive off it or not.

  10. Yeah... its not a slam dunk to do this tbh, but a big reason why we are here is a failure of public policy. And I'm old enough to remember the Chuck Grassleys of the world clapping like seals when the last administration ignited a public policy failure (ie. trade war) and responded by cutting government checks to farmers to fix the mess. So, while I think there is a fair debate to be had on whether the policy is right or not, so many of those who oppose this are flaming hypocrites and will take any and all government money that heads their way in other instances. And I just don't have much patience for it.

  14. If Manning continues to pitch like he has the rest of the way this year I guess we can take solace that between Skubal's first 3 and half months and Manning's last 2 and half months we managed to combine for 1 ace like season out of our former "Big 3".

  15. Hinch read Tango's book and saw that the best hitter should not hit third.

  17. Obviously, the "Anglo Saxon" behavior can be adapted by others. There is a fantastic rant by David Mitchell about how English interest in fine dining is all part of this "Anorak behavior"

  21. He played on the fourth line for SKA's big club! Looks like they're giving him another preseason game today, though he only played 13 minutes this last game.

  22. Holmes is in a good position with Hock. Either he has a great year and earns a strong contract or he doesn’t do much and they part ways and it becomes another point of emphasis on how empty the past regime left the cupboard.

  23. De La Rosa as in Eric De La Rosa? He may not even get protected from the AAA Phase. Anyways, McCosky doesn't know what he is talking about, in general. In the case of SGL, they don't pick him up in the deadline if they don't plan on adding him.

  24. I know a lot of people who vomit thinking about their votes for Ted Cruz as the only candidate left who could stop Trump at the end of 2016. Marco Rubio should endorse Val Demmings and quit.

  25. I think remember hearing that, too. I also seem to vaguely remember a time when the home plate umpiring equipment, specifically the chest protector, was different between the leagues. One league (NL?) was a bigger type of pillowy looking thing that was worn outside of the clothing. The other league (AL?) may have also been worn outside of the shirt, but was much more compact looking. Supposedly this required different stances, which led to different eye levels and the like, from league to league.

  27. I see Toledo's season doesn't end till 9/28 so in that case Id just have him finish out the season there and call it a season. By Sprong training next year that would give him some 7 months away from stinch of the big league coaches which may be enough time for him to revert back to the player we expected him to be. With any luck we'll have some better help for him up here next year too. Btw my early predictions for either the first or atleast most prominent fluff piece of Spring Training will be about Tork reinventing or finding his old self. He'll be said to be "mashing the ball like he did at ASU" and things of that nature.

  28. some of our better starting pitching prospects this season (not including Brieske and Hill). players are listed with their current team, though most pitched at multiple levels, included in the totals. Worth noting that Chance Kirby, who hasn't been discussed much, is old (27) for AA: Ideally, a couple of these guys emerge as rotation options, or can turn into useful bullpen arms. Combined with some combination of the current mix (Eduardo Rodriguez, Matt Manning, Spencer Turnbull ('23), Brieske ('23), Hill ('23), Faedo ('23), Mize ('24) and Skubal ('23-'24), this has the makings of some good starting pitching depth. Even with this potential depth, we will likely need to sign another veteran starter for next season to address all of the injury uncertainty.

  30. Tork a double for 3 with a walk and a K, OPS up to .726 in Toledo. Still a ways from where we would hope and expect him to be down there but considering he was in the .400s at one point its nice to see a little progress.

  31. Miggy is the negative side of Tigers legends, on the positive side is Justin Verlander who is currently through 6 no hit innings against the Twins with 10Ks. At 91 pitches so unless they just let him empty the tank I don't know if he will be able to go the full 9 but he's been as good as ever tonight. Only Twin to reach base was off a passed strike 3.

  32. I am not watching this f'ing team next year if they still have Cabrera. Enough already.

  33. I don't get it either. I was content to see him getting on base couple of months ago...he wasn't blocking anyone...but that stopped a while ago. Yes he should be capable of deciding that he isn't healthy enough to play.
