  1. It frustrates me to see people refer to these pending criminal charges as a “sex thing”. I think we’ll see when they unsealed the charges, that there is fraud involved, financial fraud, tax fraud, campaign law violations and probably conspiracy charges (as it relates to finance). It just truly frustrates the hell out of me to see it referred to as “the sex thing“. I’ll say it again I couldn’t give a $&@£ to Whom he sticks and where he sticks it. Don’t care. These are criminal charges! Not a sex thing. None of you know if the charges will ever come from Georgia, or from the Fed. So let’s just keep our eye on the ball. Also, from what I’m hearing, even as he is booked for these charges, in New York, chances are this particular trial wouldn’t come to the actual trial phase For almost a year. Georgia and the federal entities will probably press charges against Trump sooner than that, and their trials would also probably start faster than this New York one. But let’s not just throw this to the wayside, these are criminal charges.

  3. Thankfully the weather held off. It was all sorts of rainy around the game but not a drop during it. Kind of amusing seeing the field crew hosing down the infield dirt with as much rain as there was before the game. And then seeing Andy Ibanez take the field with a ski mask in mid 50s temps was a tad bit amusing. The smell of hot dogs, the pop of mitt, the taste of the beer,... its baseball season, baby. Will Vest still having issues. The crowd was getting restless, at least those of us that were headed over to the Walleye hockey game afterwards. I guess I didn't realize or had forgotten how tall Parker Meadows was. Quite a sight to see him standing next to St. Paul's 1Bdude Tyler White who seemed to be a 5'10" offensive lineman.

  4. I am really liking what I'm seeing from Mazur so far, he seems to have good instincts for where to be and skates hard to get to good defensive positions all over the ice. He seems a little more open to passing this second game too haha

  7. It's not just Monroe's homerism which, yes, is bad. But even worse to me is his whole I'm-still-in-the-game schtick: referring to The Guys by their cutesy-poo clubhouse nicknames; acting as a cheerleader and an apologist for The Guys; leaning hard on jock-talk crutches; and, of course, his general lack of actual insight for which he's apparently relying on his memory of what it was like when he was a player on the inside, rather than studying up on the game as an informed outsider. In other words, he comes off like a YouTube or TikTok amateur, not as a broadcast professional.

  11. I think Bally is serving us up the worst TV booth of my lifetime, which stretches back to when Ernie and Kell were working together. They tell me that before that Van Patrick was just as good, which I believe even though I never heard him do baseball as Van the best I ever heard doing football - which I did hear him do for the Lions for a long time.

  12. I despise him at this point. It's only a matter of time that he starts in on fans and media for "not being positive!!"...he's an insufferable, gaslighting, jackass.

  13. I'm really disappointed in Monroe. I thought when they gave him his shot he might be decent - but it's like he's locked into a platitude phrase book - constant repetition of mostly poorly applied stock banalities. I can't listen to him. Scales on the other hand may have a ways to go but he's pretty natural and occasionally says something clever. There's potential for improvement.

  19. yeah - I was surprised/disappointed that when Ezra Klein interviewed David French in the NYT he didn't call French out over the criticism that you can't extend the statute of limitations because Trump wasn't charged. If you let that argument stand and it sounds pretty reasonable to the average listener. But if it's actually non-sequitor logic because Trump had taken control of the charging process then not so much. Just because French is now a 'tame' Republican doesn't mean you still don't call him out when he falls back into shading his cases.

  20. Nope. If Schoop's leash were any shorter he'd bump his nose turning his head. Ironically. probably also true for McKinstry - they wan't to get him into some games, see if they have anything before deciding to move on or not. I could have it backwards, and we'll know soon enough, but so far I get more of an impressoin this regime is going to be the inverse of the last one - move guys around fast - short tryouts, make it or break it and then next man up. Not so many long leisurely auditions anymore.

  21. What charge WOULDN’T be viewed as political? So, does he continue with his “get out of jail free” card forever? Initially, they wouldn’t go after him because in 2016 or 2015 he was running for office. And then he got into office, so constitutionally they couldn’t touch a sitting president with anything. Then he got out of office, but for some reason, we can’t touch him now either. And now he’s running for office again, so we can’t touch him because he’s running for office. is it any of this stinking yet?

  22. I use the word 'temporary' to refer more to the architecture not being integral to the structure than a comment on how long in time it will or won't there. I could see them doing something more in RF in front of the stands but the space in CF is dead space whether you leave it as a gap between two walls or fill it in something that will still be basically empty space, so I don't see them having a whole lot of motivation to change that part.

  29. The problem is there are a LOT more crazies than I realized. Paying more attention to politics hasn't given me more hope or any feeling that I can do anything about it. It doesn't even make me feel smarter. It just gets me irritated.

  30. Every park with temporary walls looks tacky.
    1 point
  31. the problem is that when enough people stop paying attention, that's when the crazies take over. That's basically what has happened in the US in this era. In a sense you can say we got fat and happy and just assumed everything would keep going on autopilot. It had been a very long time - the 1930s and the Great Depression really, since any foundational structures or social contract assumptons of the US had been seriously threatened or questioned. The very idea of a serious threat to the body politic and the need to do anything about it had long since passed from living memory. Sane people can either re-learn how to do national politics sanely, or watch the crazies continue to collapse everything.

  34. And there's a tendency among pundits and observers to act like this is all being hashed out in a smoke filled room. That isn't how any of this works. There are different entities looking into different possible crimes committed by the former President. When different entities can make a decision to bring a case or how they bring one is going to differ based on how long the investigation has happened, manpower, how much evidence needs to be examined, etc. In this case, it just happens that that the Manhattan DA got there first. It is what it is
    1 point
  35. The thing is, the DA in Manhattan can’t worry about what is going on elsewhere with crimes. If they see something they do something. There’s no rule that you if you aren’t convicted of X then you can’t be charged with Y. There’s also no rule that if one person wasn’t convicted of X then no one else should be charged with X.
