  10. Indeed! It wasn't as cold as I expected to be, plus winning always adds a few degrees. If you watched the games, you would have seen Kerry Carpenter's walk off homer sail right through my son's hands and ending up bouncing right to the guys sitting in front of us (with me watching it all and doing nothing).

  13. there was a lot of failure in the early experiences with Ti. The problem is Chloride, and the weird thing - and probably the reason it was hard to figure out initially, is that Ti is very resistant to sea-water and Chlorides of all kinds - at room temp. The trick is that if you have even a trace of Cl present and get the Ti hot enough, you're going to get a failure. Even the sweat from a welder's hands can do in a weld on Ti.

  27. I don't know. Was the Soto trade made to fill 3B (sort of) or was it made to move Soto for some pieces that might be useful (Maton being one who has played mostly SS but also has played other IF)? Candelario was let go in mid November. Maton was traded for in early January. Ibanez and Nevin were acquired before Maton. Malloy was, too, but I doubt he was considered for MLB action. I guess what I am getting at is that I don't think retaining Candelario would have prevented or necessarily dissuaded Maton as part of a Soto deal. Maton could have been used at 2B with Candelario at 3B. We've seen Maton at 2B with Nevin at 3B. Soto has proven control issues. Maton has an eye for OBP outside of AVG. I think trading away a player like Soto and trading for a player like Maton fits into Harris' desire for controlling the strike zone.

  28. Green is a plus defensive CF, which means even at a 700 OPS you are probably happy to start him. He's putting that up now at age 22 and still has plenty of upside to improve over his next 3 yrs and 1000+ PA. Could he burn out? Sure, any player can at any time. It's true Tork's situation is different. At 1b he has to produce more with the bat. BTW he shares the team lead in RBI. I don't know if it's fans everywhere or just in Det, but sometimes there is a real tendency to let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Riley isn't Mickey Mantle, he's a bust!, Jerod Goff isn't Mahomes, bench him! You can win a lot of championships with a good depth of good players and zero superstars.

  29. I think this make sense. You have to remember to separate the money from the masses when you look at the operation of the RW in the US. At the grass roots there is plenty of actual embrace of racism and what is effectively fascism - though the true believers surely don't even understand the term. But on the money end, it's still all about taxes and deregulation. The money people don't really like Trump, They know now that he brings too much risk and chaos. They don't really want to see everything come crashing down, they just want higher profits. Fox is run by Murdoch. An alternative to Trump that can win is at the top of his agenda right now. Of course he'll still take Trump's side if the alternative is a democrat with a corporate tax plan, but until then Fox will give GOP alternatives to Trump plenty of love.

  30. I have a wooden fence and my neighbor children have broken out some slats. I let it slide since their homeland is being ravaged by Russians and their family is in exile in Poland but I do wish they would stop busting my fence. I have actually blocked Fox News, OANN and Newsmax so I don't even accidentally turn them on.

  34. Guys like Parker and Winfield, and Ellis Valentine, got lots of love as defensive right fielders but for me Evans was the best of all of them. That, and a serious power bat, and a long career, should have gotten more Hall consideration than it did.

  36. It’s absolutely the best way to draft in this situation when you are starting year 1 of a potential window as a legitimate deep playoff contender. They have 2 first round picks and a boatload of draft capital. Use these picks to help fill current holes and add young rotational depth to positions of value.. Any QB would be drafted to sit the bench and have no impact for this year and next too if things go how you want this season. No chance to make the team better now. Wilson and the corners and pretty much anyone else would at least have an opportunity to help. QB at 6 is such a waste right now.

  41. His first appearance on Letterman, especially the final 2 minutes, rocked me. It’s still one of the most talked about comedy routines ever, I hear comedians referencing it all the time. Joe Rogan recently, for example, was going on about its impact. Similar to the content of the clip you posted, but I think the big thing about the Letterman appearance is that we were all hearing it for the first time. I do think Kinison wore out his welcome though and his shtick got old after a couple of years.
