None of them. To me, you need to make relationships at your local level Church's. Example, my local Church is very active in the community and offer english classes for our local Burmese community that are mainly former rufugees. They also help the find jobs and housing. Our same little Church sponsor at last check 150 orphans at Grace Pointe an orpahnage/school in Kasigau region of SE Kenya. Many members of our church have traveled to Grace Point and help build a new wing of the school or bulid a new mud hut for a local family, etc. They do great things there! I mean the impact is amazing, every dollar helps these kids. My wife the nurse and I plan to go next year to help with medical concerns for two weeks. These kids all come from slums and most of their parents have died from AIDS. My pastor drives a Honda accord that he will proudly tell you has 300K miles and lives in a simple home. Guys like this don't hide behind their beliefs but stand out front and inspire folks to do the same. TV jokers are just that, wolves in sheeps clothing.4 points

That ain’t gonna work. The pitch comes in, he’s going to have to recognize it and then remember he has a note about that to look at, look at the note, then refocus on the pitch and swing and hit. Are you aware how fast these pitches are being thrown?2 points

Both of my parents and all of their brothers & sisters (12 total) smoked, except one. 7 have died from lung disease (my dad died of mesothelioma, which was from asbestos). Both my parents did quit back in the early 80s. One of my uncles was like your mom, even with lung cancer, on oxygen and in terrible pain, never really stopped. He figured "what's the point now?". When we were younger we'd say it was bad but he believed it was some kind of conspiracy of some kind to make people stop. The one uncle I have who never ever smoked (not even once, never even tried once) is still alive, 94 years old- lives in Somerville, Mass and shovels the walk ups for several neighbors when it snows (they don't have driveways there). The man still works too (paints boats, fixes small things a couple times a week) and the only medication he takes is for the arthritis in his hands, when he needs it. He's still sharp as a tack too. A memory like Gordie Howe's before his stroke. Dude's a dynamo. Tells us young ones (my cousins in their 60s) "you're all soft, all a yas"2 points

I don’t want to leave. I want you to stop beating the same dead horse about Goff. We’re going on 3 years already. Aren’t you getting a little bit tired of it, too?2 points

They do this by characterizing those on the left as their enemies, and the reason is their enemies is because the left made those on the right their enemies and are trying to destroy them (when in fact most liberals basically barely think about right-wingers at all). Not only does they reflect victim mentality, but even more dangerously, they labor under a siege mentality, and the reason that's dangerous is because when you're under siege, you have to counterattack, and woe betide the "enemy" being counterattacked who doesn't even realize he's assumed to be trying to destroy the right.2 points

There has been a lot of back and forth at various councils since, but for practical purposes, for the Western Churches most canon was set under Augustine's leadership in the 4th century. The big change after that came when the Protestant movement switched their choice of OT authority from the Septuagint (Greek) to the Masoretic Text (Hebrew) - (KJV reflects this) . For the Protestants reformers, this helped remove authority for some RCC doctrines they didn't like that were supported in the Duetorecanon/Apochrypha since those book are not in the Masoretic Canon . The Protestant reformers may have also viewed the Masoretic text as more 'authentic' than the Septuagint (the Greek OT which contains the Dueterocanon).1 point

I don't think there are many in the mainstream. First off, to call yourself a devout Christian, proclaim to care about the less fortunate, and hoard that type of wealthy is disgusting and goes against the very tenants of Jesus' teaching. Jesus went into the temple and flipped over the tables of the coin counters and bankers. Jesus didn't drive a brand new Ferrari and live in a multi-million dollar house with luxury items wall to wall like Pat Robertson, Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen, Benny Hinn, Creflo Dollar, Kenneth Copeland, Jimmy Swaggert, Jim and Tammy Faye Baker, etc. all do. Jesus certainly didn't make a $50 million mega church built for his followers to gather in either. Second off, the way in which most of these TV hucksters make their money and keep it flowing in is deceitful and dishonest. Call now and give me a tide, sow a seed for only $100 a month and I'll send you a little green prayer cloth and a bottle of miracle water that I "blessed". They pray upon old people who live on fixed incomes, the poor, and uneducated often times. People who can barely afford what they are asking them to give. Furthermore, they scam them by making their donations reoccurring each month, often times when the person donating doesn't realize it will be a reoccurring donation. Third off, Jesus never picked up prostitutes and banged them at the Inn (Jimmy Swaggert), snorted coke on the church's dime with a gay prostitute (Ted Haggard), or denied desperate people into his church after a hurricane (Joel Osteen). He helped people during their time of need and shared with others everything he had. "But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” - Luke 14:12-241 point

"And again I say unto you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God.” - Matthew 19:241 point

This is not my issue at all. MB thinks Stafford was overrated and overhyped and hated that he asked out of Detroit. This led into his claim that Goff would be just as good. Now it’s morphed into constant defense of Goff and continued comparisons to Stafford and every other QB. Look, it was a rocky first 20 games but it’s starting to maybe look like MB was right about Goff. He should take some props but it’s become almost insufferable. We’re 3 years in and he still takes almost every chance to rehash the same points over and over again about Goff and Stafford. It’s tiring. I am also not a fan of the abrasive tantrums that get thrown if someone wants to share a different opinion. He’s come unhinged and called people pathetic liars and various other names multiple times in the past. Sure, I can put him on ignore but I actually do appreciate his point of view and think he has some good things to say about the Lions and other topics. I would like for him to just tone it down or pick his spots better with the Goff vs. Stafford debate.1 point

Yes definitely. Sometimes there could be a bigger difference between say 10 and 12 than 12 and 25. Not just for baseball but all types of rankings or big boards. That's why I do prefer lists that break it down into tiers or put the grade next to the player to give you a better idea of the actual disparity or lack there of between players.1 point

The injuries are a concern of course but he's still young and played at an MVP level for a few years. FTR, I take Goff and his current salary over Lamar and his new salary without hesitation especially in this offense the way the Lions are being built but if you look at them in a vacuum purely from an upside/impact standpoint, I can't imagine many taking Goff over Jackson.1 point

if the lions traded for lamar jackson you'd reverse every position you took in this thread, just like you did when they traded matt stafford.1 point
-
some of what you would call lamar's less productive seasons are on par with goff's best seasons. lamar qbr: 42.6 rookie year 83 (one of the greatest seasons in nfl history) 67 50 59 goff: 18, 55, 63, 50, 50, 39, 61 again, the issue with lamar is health, not talent. when healthy, he is one of the best qbs in the nfl.1 point
-
Weird how Lamar Jackson can continue to live on that 2019 season now 4 years ago and Goff can't live off his 2018 season. The thing is, on a per game basis last year, Goff was more productive. He accounted for more yards and TDs and was a more efficient passer.1 point
-
That's true but even if it's just health you still have to factor that in and as I mentioned before he has slowly gotten less productive each season since that MVP season. Also no QB outside of Mahomes or Rodgers has had as good of season as that MVP Lamar season so should we just anoint Lamar the 2nd or 3rd best QB in football cause he put up that unbelievable season 4 years ago?1 point
-
I also get a kick out of some of these sites/writers that say he is a product of the talent around him but then you see how low they rank the guys around him and it doesnt add up. For instance PFF didn't have the Lions o line in their top 10, they graded their rbs as only average and only ASRB was graded highly as a receiver. Its like they are talking out of both sides of their mouth, you rank his supporting cast as middle of the pack when grading them but then downplay Goff by saying the cast is great. Which one is it? Btw according to QB WAR Goff only trailed Mahomes last season so he was far more than thy game manager that some describe him as.1 point
-
if stafford were still a lion and goff were still a ram, this board would consider goff a middle of the pack at best qb and stafford as a top 5-10 qb.1 point
-
PFF just ranked all positions and Goff ranked 16th amongst QB's, behind Geno Smith and Derek Carr. It is based on the upcoming 2023 season, not future value. I would have Goff higher than that but it shows what others think of him. With very little mobility and an average at best arm he has a ceiling that is much lower than other more talented QB's. It also limits play calling a bit too. I believe they want to see what they have in Hooker before they hand out a 160M 4 year deal to Goff. Also why do a deal now when he could get hurt this year and they would be stuck with him.1 point
