Actually, I know a lot about these things. Keith is stuck in a lease and is trying to find someone to sublet his apartment. Once successful, he’s Toledo-bound.4 points

With MLB contracting the minor leagues Boise, Idaho lost its long time NWL short season team and my kids that still live in town took me to a game tonight for Father’s Day. All the players look older and bigger than the players I remember from the last 30 plus years when the team was affiliated with the Angels, the Cubs, and the Rockies. I was hoping there might be some career minor leaguers who were released from AA or AAA, but the league will not accept anyone who’s had more than three years of professional experience. I saw very few pitches above 86 mph, although a couple reached 91 or 92. There were no home runs tonight. There is a pitch clock and the home team won and the game took 2:25. SWEET! If the game is tied, they have some dumb kind of home run derby that I just couldn’t take the time to figure out when I was reading about it. The fielding seemed pretty decent compared to the 19-21 age guys I am used to seeing, and the outfielders had some pretty strong arms. There were some real lasers from right field to home plate that were quite exciting. There were a couple completed double plays too. You’re never going to see a Ken Griffey a Dontrelle Willis, Gleyber Torres, or Kyle Schwarber come through town again. Rickey Henderson started his career here in 1976 playing on a high school field for the Athletics’ rookie league team. But it surprised me how entertaining it was and in some respects, how little different from what I was used to seeing - with some exceptions - compared to short season Class A. I have to say, though, when he was 17 Gleyber Torres already looked like a major leaguer. i’m going to miss those moments. But I will definitely come back. Ticket prices are definitely lower. The food, however is just as expensive. But still, if I could hang the people from lamp posts who contracted the minor leagues and took away genuine major league prospects from smaller cities all over America, I would do it I’m kidding…3 points

Correlating that to the practice of calling players up is a non sequitur. Gaining an extra year of control and being thorough regarding developing players can have good baseball value not simply a "business approach". Further we have no track record yet on Harris, so there is no reason to assume any predilection.3 points

Harris been hitting some of Avila's leftover cold medicine? Only the 2023 Tigers would have literally the worst statistical hitter in MLB hitting 5th every day...2 points

There won't be as much of that now. I could see him holding him back to maintain ROY status, so he can potentially get a draft pick. However, I think if they really think he's ready to be a contributing major leaguer they will call him up.2 points

The Tigers needed a SS entering the 2004 season. DD signed Omar Vizquel. Very fortunately he flunked the physical. DD then trades Ramon Santiago for Guillen. What if Vizquel doesn't flunk his physical? Probably no Guillen. Sometimes better to be lucky than good.1 point

As bad as the Tigers are, the pitch clock makes it so easy to watch compared to past years.1 point

Just to add on with respect to Harris’ track record, I don’t know if his first offseason in charge is indicative of anything. It could be, I don’t know. But is suspect his earlier priorities were really to get the foundation of the organization in order. That is to say the evaluation and development work streams needed to be put into place first before the actual players were put into place. Players are going to come and go, there’s always going to be that part of it. But what good is the farm system if the organization doesn’t know how to select players and/or what to do with them once they’re in place?1 point

If they stay at 5, I think I’d prefer Whitmore. But I think I’d prefer moving down and taking D*ck. Part of that equation of course is what else they were to receive (and send depending upon the entirety of the deal) in exchange. I think we’ll see a center moved, hopefully Bagley. I don’t mind the original acquisition of him at the time. I think it was worth an up front look to see if he could be a worthwhile part of the rotation. But obviously Duren is the future in the paint. And I think I prefer Wiseman over Bagley as a backup. Wiseman might be the better trade value, so if he gets moved, I understand that in a vacuum. Obviously any moves are dependent upon the whole of the transactions at play. This much we do know for certain: Weaver ain’t afraid to make moves. I don’t think it’s going out on a limb too far to imagine that he’ll make a deal directly related to the draft. I don’t think they’re simply picking 5th and 31th and then heading into free agency,1 point

No, but he's still got Maton up here for some reason...as far as AJ hitting him at 5, who knows why; Harris and AJ have to converse about these players, and they have def had to converse about Maton hitting 5th for this extended period. Not saying Harris is going to micro-manage and tell AJ how to run his lineup, but a good GM would have to question his coach at this point about constantly trotting the worst hitter in the league at the 5 spot EVERY GAME...and oh look, there's an error by Maton.1 point

I think Javy Baez listens to local sports talk and hears how everyone regrets signing him instead of Correa and he just comes alive when they face off.1 point

Why is Maton hitting so high or in the lineup? Also nice triple1 point

I wouldn’t put it past the league to do so something like this. Not that they’d ever publicly announce some agreement, but the only thing the NFL cares more about than image is money. If Hard Knocks covering the Lions would make them substantially more than their next best option, and the Lions quietly said we would only do it if they’d re-evaluate the suspension, I could totally see them announcing that upon a review of the totality of the circumstances, he’s only suspended two games. I don’t think they care that much about the Lions doing Hard Knocks though.1 point

No question he is as quick on his feet as anyone you'll meet. It's also generally unfortunate that our campaign culture rewards that so highly since it's not particularly high on the list of necessary executive skills.1 point

I'd take Miller at 5...but I don't think he'll be there. After that it's Whitmore, Hendricks and the Thompson's. If we an make a move back into the lottery, Coulibaly would be an interesting guy1 point

That's so good, I know that these players are hoping for a chance at the show, maybe a second chance, but it would be great for the local baseball community if some players came back for a season or two.1 point

So if we end up trading Lorenzen and Rodriguez, or even if not and Rodriguez just opts out, we could easily end up with the 'ALL TJ" starting rotation with Mize, Skubal, Turnbull, Faedo, and Wentz.1 point

This is what should happen. It's just too bad they never went after Shrub's legal team that wrote the torture memos. If some them had been disbarred maybe the precedent would have had a few of these folks thinking twice.1 point

The NFL needs to re-write the months of June and July for the next season of their soap opera. The lull between schedule release and training camp isn't cutting it for me. OTAs ain't enough, give me something juicy.1 point

Maybe the simplest answer is they want him to keep working at 3B and there are already too many 3Bs at Toledo. Nevin and Malloy are also Harris' guys.1 point
