  1. Any team carrying Schoop doesn't really have a 40 man problem.

  3. “Our data suggests”. Science is not a static thing. I seriously think that there was no intent to mis-characterize what was happening with the virus. What would be the purpose of that???? The data AT THAT TIME … suggested…that vaccinated people didn’t carry the virus. But the message always was that you had a much better chance at NOT ending up in a life-ending situation in a hospital intubated with diminished hope of ever leaving that room. I’m not understanding why we are looking to demonize and criminalize scientists. I honestly don’t understand this.

  5. Everytime I see a new post on this thread I open it up with the hope that we just landed Debrincat, lol.

  6. The upcoming 40 man clearing that will be needed for Manning, Brieske, Wingenter, and Skubal may make Schoop a logical 40-man casualty with somebody from the Toledo logjam being a logical backfill.

  10. no-no. I mean science - as imperfect as it is, is still miles ahead of the Joe Rogans.

  11. Do we know Jeimer is really streaky, as compared to other players, or does he just feel streaky to us? Is there any way to figure that out, I wonder?

  12. Meyer wasn't traded he was picked up in the expansion draft by the Mariners.

  13. That's where I want it to end up and I don't think it's far off - if at all - what Ottawa can expect. It would basically mean Hronek + Zadina for Debrincat + moving up from 4th round to 2nd in this year's draft.

  14. Malloy and Keith are younger than Rizzo and Lipcius, who are younger than Maton. I'd prioritize playing Malloy and Keith.

  15. ESPN has the following: 1)Skenes 2)Crews 3) Tigers: Wyatt Langford...5-10% chance drafting Kyle Teel.

  16. LOL no argument from me! If Ottawa would take a future top 10/15 protected first rounder too I would be even more over the moon, it seems like the first round of this current draft is pretty solid. Hopefully stuff starts happening this week with the draft on tap.

  18. Incaviglia was perfect for that kind of thing. He had been doing it his whole life and he knew how to do it right. Phillips was crazy, wanted to leave Prince in the locker over night. Incaviglia told him: "This is just for fun. You can't do that. I know we did that to Scott Livingstone but Prince is just a kid."

  19. For now, I am thinking more along the lines of a Jo Adell type player (I don't know if it's him, specifically). If Harris is the genius he is purported to be, he should be able to identify break out candidates which he can acquire relatively cheaply. That's what we need to find out about him.

  20. every team that signs FAs gets bitten eventually nothing is surprising about Candelario's performance, he can put up anything from a 600 to a 800 OPS; moving on from him, even in his walk year when he is extra motivated, was reasonable; not replacing him was the mistake

  21. Okay, I have noticed restaurant food has gone downhill since 2020. I didn't have a confirmed case until August 2022 (after four shots), so noticed this before then. I have some theories, but one is that I just improved my cooking quite a bit in that time such that spending money on restaurant food is a complete waste.

  22. They will have to do that anyway, but they should still try to be competitive in the weak AL central.

  23. Cisnero’s topline numbers have been awesome since about late April. He’s doing the same thing he did for us last year: handily outpitch his peripherals (his walk rate is still a touch elevated at near 10% and his FIP- is 101, versus ERA- of 30, even since then). Fingers crossed he can do that for one more month and we get an actual useful asset in return.

  29. I keep having visions of Duren grabbing the defensive board. Outlet to Cade who pushes it up the middle of the floor with Ivey and Ausar running both wings.

  30. If he keeps this up, hopefully we’ll get to see him in July or August. However, if Greene and Baddoo can come back relatively soon, there won’t be a lot of AB’s to go around in the outfield.

  32. They don't have to go big in free agency or trade but they need some quality vets, more Bogey types but ones that play defense and are younger. Bruce Brown is a young vet that shouldn't break the bank. Correct the mistake of letting him go in the first place and bring him in. I think the Pistons are beyond the "sin eating" stage although I wonder if taking on somebody like Tim Hardaway Jr. might be of interest if Dallas wants to chase a big fish.

  34. A few days on the bench would be the best thing for Maton, if he isn't going to go to Toledo. Just sit a few games out, forget about the platoons and the super cool L R batting order.

  35. I didn't want Castro back, but I did want Candelario. I was also OK with Maton as a role player with a chance to do more. McKinstry and Vierling have worked out so far, but not Maton.

  36. They showed a close up of Maton earlier in the game and he looked liked my dog when I leave for work in the morning. Maybe Toledo would be better for his head, as much as his ability. Not giving up, but the guy's in a hole and he can't get out of it.

  37. I thought keeping Willi would have been a defensible decision, too, but as with Jeimer, when the mob is pounding down the door with their pitchforks, you tend to cave to them.

  38. Put Schoop in at third and put Maton on the bus to Toledo right now....

  39. Ugh Maton. I feel for the kid but I feel like he needs a hard reset down in Toledo. Another game in which he has an error at a pivotal moment.

  42. If We Were Vampires is one of those for me. Especially after reaching that age and facing our version of "retirement" whatever that is. "Maybe we'll get 40 years together. One of us will have to be alone" edit..we're coming up on 43. As my wife remarked recently, "I think we've become that cute old couple some people talk about"
