I will never understand why teams are so worried about potentially getting guys with picks at 37 and 45 when history has shown that just a tiny fraction of them amount to anything anyway. To me it's a no brainer, you do what it takes to sign the number 1 prospect in the draft, if it means that you in turn have to take a lesser prospect with 37 and 45 who gives a crap. Basically I'd rather take the lesser player in rounds 2 and 3 than the lesser one in round 1, especially when the consensus shows that there is a clear tier difference between said prospects.6 points

On the other hand, it's a good weekend when you get results from Greene, Torkelson, Manning and Skubal.4 points

Greene got the majors in only one more MilB season than Torkelson and a lot of folks say they should have waited longer with Tork.3 points

yeah, It would have been insane to let him go any longer. Here is a young pitcher working his way back after an injury and they wanted to see him stay in there to throw 120 pitches so he could get a no hitter?3 points

I was expecting and hoping for Langford, but I really don't know enough about these guys to complain. I wanted a position player who has big offensive potential and Max Clark is that even if he is far away. Scouting report: Looks like a douche with the exaggerated eye black but has a great baseball name!2 points

Clark certainly has the higher ceiling due to the fact that he projects to remain in CF which is why I don't hate the pick if that is their thought process for taking him, I just hate the thought process of taking a guy you view as lesser just cause you want to save money to spend on better inferior prospects later on in the draft. Also I wonder if how fast Holliday has progressed has changed teams feelings on HS hitter's timelines, Holliday is already the number 1 prospect in baseball and starting AA, he very well may be inline to be in the big leagues by the ASB 2024, less than 2 years after being drafted which is essentially no different than college players.2 points

I saw Leyland get mad and say "not on my watch" about overworking young pitchers and risking injury. Manning was already gassed, it's like early April for him. Safe and smart thing to do was take him out. I woulda had him done at 6 innings.2 points

Where we work out is a community center. During the election her people were having some kind of rally or something in either the theater or a meeting room. This collection of people I came across in the parking lot was straight out of a meme. Old ladies with funny hats and buttons. Lots of religious and anti abortion bumper stickers. Lots of them. Bible verses painted on the cars. I was going to ask them if JFK Jr was speaking but my wife wouldn’t let me.2 points

Despite his flaws as an analyst, he has always come across as an honest and friendly person. I have heard that he is genuinely that way, so yes it would be really difficult to fire him. Hell, if fans can put up with Todd Jones and Craig Monroe, they can deal with a fading Price for a few monrhs.2 points

The first combined no hitter was in 1917 and the second came in 1967. 12 have come in the last 20 years. The first one is hilarious. Babe Ruth walked the first batter, got into an argument with the ump, punched him in the mouth and got ejected and then Ernie Shore came in and retired 26 in a row after the guy that walked was thrown out trying to steal second.2 points

MLB.com has both rated the same but Clark has better numbers for speed and fielding. Seems that Lanford's only advantage over Clark is in hitting power.1 point

Woodsy won stage 9 of the Tour de France today! 36 years old! He beat the kid from Idaho, but I still don’t feel bad about it because, Goddammit, it’s Woodsy! “We are the world. We are the children…”1 point

It wasn’t just falling concrete it was catching. My first two years there, I would occasionally hear splat, which was the sound of bird poop hitting nearby seats. Birds were able to fly up and perch on the girder directly above row 9 of the 400 sections of the second deck. I moved my seats to another row just to avoid it, and told my rep why, and he said, yeah, we’ve heard about that problem before. Yet, it still took at least another couple or three years before someone finally got the bright idea to put the nets up there. Maybe it was because of falling concrete and not bird pooping. But putting up the net was basically … ahem … killing tw … no, I just can’t …1 point

I do feel bad for someone when it looks like they are finished doing what they have done their whole life. I don’t hate players who’s only fault is not being good anymore. They aren’t doing anything wrong. Sometimes the vitriol I see bothers me. These are humans doing their best.1 point
