I agree that getting your news from primary sources rather than predigested by advocates is always preferable. But my biggest problem with the television for news in general is that it is a hopelessly time wasting way to get your information, so I'm not going to give hours of my life to cable or network news of any persuasion. That said, the difference is that while MSNBC's slant may sometimes be of dubious net social value, the overall value of Fox's is decidedly malignant and largely directed to the specific interests of Murdoch's oligarchical politics. Given the choice between something that may simply be occasionally misguided and something that is quite deliberately malicious, I don't see a moral equivalence, even if there is a certain functional equivalence in the advocacy.

Call me crazy, but I don’t think reporting on racial and LGBTQ rights as a far left stance. It’s a human rights stance. Not really defending anything about MSNBC per se, I only watch bits and pieces.

We dropped our oldest off at college for freshman year a couple of weeks ago. A stressful and emotional moment for sure. You just want them to be happy, and for them to develop a good social circle in a new environment. Well, he's doing great! He called his sister the other day and even she said afterwards "he sounds so happy!". We are so glad that he's plugged in well to campus and with his roommates/others. We still miss him like crazy, but it has helped tremendously to know that he is having a good experience. (And yes he's going to class too. He's a pretty conscientious student.)

You might want to calibrate your radar because you're way off here. A person can support LGTBQ people while at the same time saying there are certain areas, such as competing in sports, where they shouldn't be allowed. A person can believe that there is racism in the country without thinking that every time a black person is shot and killed by the police, it must have been caused by the color of their skin. MSNBC pushes their agenda every bit as hard as Fox pushes theirs. What would be fantastic is if the news just reported the news and stopped ignoring certain stories and pushing others that fit the narrative they want to put out there.

The record is bad. The run differential is ugly. But the vibe is much better, probably because there have not been many 2-8 stretches and for the most part the guys counted on for the future I've made progress.

Agreed. Even all variables aside coming into this specific game, the first few games of every season is a crapshoot while teams figure stuff out and get into the groove. Even if you think the Chiefs are heads-and-shoulders above the Lions (I don’t), worse teams beat better teams all the time in week one. Last year, the Bears beat the 49ers, the Steelers beat the Bengals, the Commies beat the Jaguars, and the Bucs held the Cowboys to 3 points. None of those would be expected in a vacuum, but week one always has unexpected outcomes.

It kind of surprised us, his dad as well. He does read a lot of historical fiction and has loved maps for years. We keep urging his parents to send him here for a week or so. There are several camps in the area that focus on that. Not to mention archeology camps for his age group. Where were these things when I was his age?

This fact, annoys me so much! Why do we have to have all of this advertising for drugs, new drugs?? In the ad always has the verbiage that suggest you tell your doctor you want this drug. WTF! This for sure is why some of these prices are out of control. I know it has nothing to do with this particular argument, the other thing that really annoys me is the names of these new drugs. Who the hell has this job that comes up with these names? I don’t know why I have this visceral reaction to these ads, but it’s like nails on a chalkboard. It just really aggravates me. Wow. This is such an “I’m old and cranky… get off my lawn” post. Oh, well. I yam what I yam. 👵

One of my prescriptions runs me $600+ after copay. The first month is about $6500. It's still considered experimental and can only be prescribed thru a speciality pharmacy. Fortunately it seems to be effective, we think...

And they blame their lack of "acceptable" profits and price increases on "theft". They are practically daring people to steal.
