  1. I didn't, i just feel like everybody who truly understands Rule V will arrive on time and now that there are no more Covid restrictions around border crossings if you tell the Canadian customs guys that you are going to a Rule V party they will just wave you through. I already have the Rule V bunting over the front porch. My driveway only holds one extra car and I've always saved it for tiger337, so for everybody else just park at the church up around the corner. They don't like it but what can they do? They can't do nothing.

  3. All I know is that somehow the Pistons and Red Wings will drop 2 spots despite this being an MLB lottery.

  4. That's the key. They pay more because it's less number of games. If there were 170 games they wouldn't do that because the individual games don't mean as much. NFL fans are a different breed of sport fan. In this situation less is more and NFL games are an event. A lot of it, maybe most, is because of gambling and fantasy play. I routinely go to a friends house to watch the game on a projector in his garage with others. In baseball that never happens, not even in a playoff game.

  5. There are very few people who haven't been affected in some way by mental illness; either themselves or somebody close to them. I'm sorry you have backward views on it, but at least acknowledge how hurtful it is to espouse those views and how ignorant it makes you appear. I acknowledge going the Billy Madison screed route may have been over-the-top, but it is apropos given the severity and how out of bounds those two posts were. It deserved top rope treatment.

  6. What does it even mean to say that a player is athletic but not explosive or fluid? The numbers are the numbers and Campbell is off the charts. The coaches are just asking him to do a lot and he is not yet instinctive. He will get there.

  7. If Baseball tried charging $500 for MLB.tv next year, probably more than 95% of their customers would bail on it. I know I would, and I'm a 98th-percentile baseball freak. They have nothing like a captive market.

  8. They won't charge $500 for MLB.tv until at least 2050, or something like that. EDIT: @Sports_Freak, do you think they're going to do that soon?

  10. Jamaal Williams is averaging a full yard less per carry with the Saints than with the Lions. Montgomery is averaging almost a full yard per carry more with the Lions than with the Bears. It's as if the Lions have a good offensive line.

  12. I think the primary issue with Campbell right now is he has to think too much. That slows his reaction times down. We won't know exactly what he is until he starts reading offenses better/ faster, and can just react with instincts instead of thinking about his responsibilities and where to go. When the game slows down for him, then we'll see what we've got. I believe this is normal for 1st year LB'ers, most of 'em... because there's so many reads/ responsibilities that they have...

  13. We should know which competitive balance pick we get tomorrow. I believe that is set December 1. It will be after the second round, but the formula to determine the order within is not public.

  14. The draft is only one aspect that promotes competitive balance, but baseball is the only major US sport that contains a gross economic disparity among members that continues to be an issue.

  18. monty is going nowhere. and nothing will ultimately change until gores no longer owns the team. in the meantime, firing troy weaver is the first thing he should do. but who takes his place? arn tellum? arn tellum's kid? you have an incompetently run franchise for a reason: tom gores has placed cronies and agents in charge of the team.

  22. Haven't heard much about E-Rod or where he's going, but if he wound up signing with the Dodgers, I think he'd be one of my most hated Tiger players of all time.

  23. I wouldn't say that's a silly measure, but I wouldn't take it as the best measure of the draft at distributing talent. That would better be measured by something like the average number of consecutive years teams stay over or under 500, or maybe better over 550 or under 450.

  24. The deleted quote tweet was from Doyle. He was caught red handed just lifting work. It appears some of the lifted draft odds he is using are wrong. Check out MLB, BA. Wikipedia has a table that is correct.

  26. Sorry about the HUGE banner ad running at the top of the forum today. This is apparently an experiment that Google decided to run... I believe I have stopped this experiment, so hopefully it will stop showing soon. Ads are a necessary evil to help pay the bills, but there has to be a happy medium. This new ad is a bit much with everything else that is already running. Sorry...

  31. It's hard for the US to be anything other than "Israel right or wrong", since the Jewish people as both individuals and as a political identity still occupy that moral high ground from ~75 years ago. That said, I've been gobsmacked how many (I had thought) reasonable people of the Hebraic persuasion think nothing of the idea of killing hundreds of thousands of Gaza civilians because, hey, they voted Hamas in back in 2004 or whatever it was, so it's their own damn fault what's happening to them. Of course, never mind that Hamas has blocked elections ever since then, and that half the people in Palestine are children and weren't even alive or old enough back then to vote. Justice is the demand, just like it was post 9/11. Exact same idea, it looks to me.
