  1. If this is true then I guess I’m ok with it. But for gods sake it’s not “great” pizza. I don’t think anybody even within the company would claim that. Tork needs to go on an adventure next off day in Detroit.

  3. No real position prospects at Erie, besides Lee and maybe Allen. Rotation looks pretty good, though.

  4. Erie plays a series in Richmond the last week of May. I don’t think it’s out of the question that Jobe will still be at AA then. Hoping to see him pitch there. Over the years Tiger affiliates have vacated anywhere near us geographically. The closest affiliate from us is now is about a 10 hour drive to Erie with a couple of rest breaks.

  8. Our priest told a joke last week at a memorial. “St Peter is showing a new arrival around Heaven. He approached a room and tells the guy “this is where the Baptists are. Be quiet when you walk by. They think they are the only ones here”.

  22. 4th best prospect at Erie after Jobe-Madden-Melton? might be Lee or Lockheart or Wolf, or Workman if you believe in miracle turnarounds. Yikes, that's bad. Best prospects at WMI? If not Anderson, its Smith and Graham who have shown little/been injured. Yikes, that's worse. Santana's 3rd year at Lakeland? Not good And no idea who these catchers are: Stephen Scott (Erie) and Jose Sibrian (WMI). 1984 is right - if you perform, no one is blocking you at the next level.

  23. For a change, it’s a good situation that the organization doesn’t have to feel like they need to rush a top prospect, particularly a pitcher. If he succeeds at Erie and Toledo this year and gets a late call up to the bigs it will be a very successful year for him and the Tigers. Realistically, and this is somewhat hard to believe, Jobe is probably in the starting rotation on opening day next year. Staying healthy is paramount in his case.

  24. One more thought on Erie: I'm interested in seeing how: Jobe, Madden, Melton & Mattison pitch this year. Jackson Jobe and the 3M's. Has a nice ring to it. But... I see nothing much else of interest there, prospect-wise. Maybe Trei Cruz, or Gage Workman, or Danny Cabrera locate their missing bats? Maybe Lockhart is interesting, a little? Or maybe they turn him into a Lefty Reliever? That might be at least a little interesting...

  25. Took a quick look and thought "Wow! That's pretty crappy for Jobe in Erie..." Still think that, but another thought also crossed my mind: It will be VERY easy for anyone showing that they've mastered High-A and is ready for a jump to AA... to make that jump. The Org can send just about anyone down from Erie in a swap and not bat an eyelash. I'm thinking the West Michigan-to-Erie train (and vice verse) may be just as, if not more, busy than the drive between Detroit and Toledo. Just a thought.

  26. Agreed, outside of the Erie rotation the majority of our intriguing prospects are split between Toledo and Lakeland.

  28. I'm pretty stubborn with my sports. I follow to the bitter end. This time of year is tougher to follow the Pistons because I hold the Tigers above all and there's usually games that interfere with each other. But, there's day games, off days, rain outs, so I can still catch Piston games. But I think I'm checked out for the season. And I hate that kind of mentality. You've got a team, you stick with them through thick and thin. I hate the selfish pity party "I'm so done with this team" crap. But this organization is just so flipping dreadful right now. Sure, they have some younger players that might offer hope. But I'm not sure that they fit together. I doubt that the front office is good enough to build around a core, and I would suggest there's plenty of evidence over the 4 years to back that up. It sucks. I've taken plenty of shots at Drunk Uncle Tommy. He started out too buddy buddy with his star player. He seems to have backed off of that since then. I'm not sure if/how involved he is with the front office. But this team is just stuck in a pathetic quagmire right now. Is there a glass ceiling of mediocrity as long as he is in charge?

  33. Dude for the Panthers just DRILLED a 64yd kick to take the lead with 2 seconds left. Why and the hell isn't he in the NFL or better yet on the Lions? edit: K now I know why, they just showed the graphic and this was his first FG attempt since HS, didn't kick at all in college or anywhere else in organized football so he must have just came out of nowhere. If this is a sign of things to come he will be in the NFL next year for sure.

  34. I like this idea Do away with the corner three it will probably encourage one or two shooters on a team to stay up court on offense while depopulating the baseline. That might open more room inside the arc for creative midrange play.

  35. Looking at the box score and what stands out to me is that while the Tigers struck out twice in the 10th, in the first 9 innings they only struck out once in 43 plate appearances. In this day and age that is remarkable and borderline unheard of!

  36. Tigers Win!!! Low-key impressive win here.... the bullpen kept them in it, gave the offense the chance to dig out of the hole Maeda put them in, and they did just enough.

  39. One thing you never heard talked about is that if the entire US pension system went private, we might well end up like China (where everyone saves because there is no SS), with a stagnant, over-invested, under consuming economy. It's actually not clear that there is enough investment potential available to absorb all the savings that privatizing SS would generate. The example of China argues it an issue that can't just be dismissed.

  40. So the CEO from Boeing, who just stepped down after his company has turned into a complete dumpster fire that probably shouldn't even be in business anymore, walks away with $24 million and can make another $45 million if the next guy doesn't increase the stock price by 37% or more. See, America................THIS is the kind of people you need to be pissed off at. Not some guy who wants to wear a dress or some girl who wants to be a guy or some migrant making next to nothing doing labor we don't want to do. THIS is the **** that needs to stop, but the only ones that can stop it are in on it. Great system, ain't it. His company literally killed people because they wanted to save less than half a million on simple pilot training. He gets paid more for it. Yipee ! Maybe Dave Brandon can take over there. Sounds like the perfect fit for him.
