So, when George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin I was thinking George Zimmerman was possibly in the right because I listened to those who framed it that way. Then we found out that George Zimmerman was a smooth-brained, sloped-forheaded ass who cherished the Confederate flag and seemed to always be in violent confrontations. But Kyle Rittenhouse who failed to get into the USMC during a global war on terror and seems to love cops and think they never do wrong -- and thinks shooting people who are protesting is cool -- is probably just being unfairly maligned. There would be a place for Rittenhouse -- working for the BOP -- gooning it up on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in the black body armor, with the face shields.3 points

Nice to win a game again, especially in the ninth-inning. Winning is the difference between milk and honey flowing through your veins or battery acid. I like milk and honey a lot more.2 points

It's surely disappointing but what can you do? Nobody else from that draft is lighting it up. Nobody else on this team is lighting it up. Is it a Spencer problem or a team/org problem in not giving them the tools and support another club would? He knows as well as anybody here or on twitter what he's doing and not doing and needs to do.2 points

quite simply it's easy to push back on the "leave it to the states" argument by bringing up IVF. They left it to Alabama and IVF is now threatened. That's the logical extension of being anti abortion. No other statement is necessary.2 points

Bob Horner would be a decent outcome for Torkelson. I'll take a 127 career OPS. Sluggers are usually streaky, but all their production counts the same in the end.1 point

The Tigers have won one game out of their last one games played, good for a one game consecutive winning streak.1 point

Bad news, Gipson-Long is dealing with right forearm tightness. Good news, the Mets traded Tonkin to the Twins.1 point

What people missed too is that this move was a reactive move and one made from weakness, not strength. And to the extent there was a goal in mind, it was to short term play to stanch the bleeding on an issue that is really not good for him versus really flipping the script and triangulating Today is a demonstration of just how short term the play was and how it completely disregarded how the messaging could get lost in new developments.1 point

It's a good thing the throw to 3rd was wild, or else the runner would have been out by a mile...1 point

According to Tigers offensive offense math, the 4 runs scored yesterday should cover about 3 games worth of runs...so if the 1 run holds today, then Thurs and Fri should combine for aprox 3 runs, soooo according to my Tigers math calcalutions, look for Sat to be a 3+ run game for the offense...just hope it's not too many more than that, or it'll take quite a few games of 0-2 runs to get back to the mean, it's a delicate balance.1 point

Regarding Trump's "genius" at threading this topic... I'm pretty sure he's not even aware that these things are happening. He just works off of slogans. "Roe bad" "Leave it to states good". And that's the issue's sides and he's on the 'right' side. The mechanics are other people's problems.1 point

Tigers managment did not expect that. They put out a development team with a few low risk vets. Low risk is the how they operate. If they contend, it's a bonus. They want to operate like Milwaukee, Cleveland, Tampa, etc. The young players have to perform....you aren't getting help elswhere.1 point

I might have been persuaded to give Rittenhouse a bit of slack if he had quietly disappeared after his trial. The fact he is touring the country, probably collecting significant speaking fees and generally cashing in on his fame is enough for me to continue to condemn him1 point

I expect this team to compete for the division title. Until proven otherwise, it’s the weakest division in baseball. If they’re not competitive this year there are problems higher up than the players on the field. The Spiders/Indians/Guardians just lost Bieber for this season. There isn’t any excuse to not be at or near the top of this division.1 point

Very true. Too many players not able to make contact. And too many umpires with different strike zones. Playing with a dead ball may bring back more "small ball" with teams putting more emphasis on making contact and putting the ball in play. It would probably take a generation of players to adjust to it though.1 point

do you really want even more K's? The contradiction is that everyone and his brother wants more balls in play, but pitchers will move heaven and earth to keep balls out of play as long as any large percentage are likely to leave the yard. I don't think you can square that circle by tinkering with a corner here or there, you need to redraw the figure the way it was originally designed. The balance in the game evolved with a percentage of home runs lower than they are trying to play the game with now.1 point

The Zimmerman case was something I evolved on too. I don’t remember the timeline and now it relates to my political evolution but his actions afterwards just led me down the path that he was a fake cowboy who like to start ****. He saw a black kid in a place he didn’t think he needed to be, confronted him, got his ass kicked, then shot him, and Floridas laws protected him. You can pick a pick and then kill the person.1 point

Also some of the states that are using their "states rights" to implement policy that is repellent to the moderates that Trump is ostensibly supposed to be assuaging with his statement are considered to be in play (ie. Arizona, Georgia, NC). His message will not work in these places, and likely in the other states that will decide this election. And every moment he and his party spend talking about the issue of abortion is a gift to his / their opponents.1 point
