  1. I have confirmation that is MTS Shelton, but he's still staying away. Only here for important things.

  4. As much as it appears our relief corps has let us down, in terms of what we can control—walks, strikeouts, homers to a degree—we have actually improved lately. The problem has been the outcomes. Through end of April, our relievers' FIP-minus was 102, which is ever-so-slightly worse than the average of 100, but our ERA-minus was 73 (6th-best). For May, though, our FIP-minus has been 88, ranking 11th, but their ERA-minus has been 115, which ranks 19th. As you may have guessed, the culprit has been balls starting to fall in. Our March/April BABIP was .232; so far in May, it's .340. That's a problem for a bullpen like the Tigers' that was already among baseball's worst in striking out the opposition in March/April (21.8%, 18th), but has gotten much worse in May (17.9%, 29th). You may or may not agree that strikeouts are fascist, but when a team doesn't get enough of them, they have to rely on some combination of their defense and dumb luck to get guys out.

  5. People put a little too much stock in the draft. Look at the Timberwolves rotation tonight. 8 deep and they drafted exactly two of those players. Everyone else was acquired via trade or free agency.

  6. you never know, but one difference is that despite the way Edwards treated his wife, he was a more appealing personality than Trump. I think the other aspect is that in the Edwards case the prosecution spent too much time on the affair - trying make Edwards seem like jerk I guess - instead of providing the evidence that he actually broke the law.. This prosecution has a lot of good black and white evidence - does not appear to be making that mistake.

  7. this is the functional shift in approach that Biden is attempting. They recognize that the political difficulty of raising taxes for new transfer payments is pretty close to impossible. It's going to be a big enough lift just to increase the FICA cap to put Social Security back on a better footing in the near future. So instead do everything you can to push wages for the lower half of the economy. It's easier to build winning political coalitions for those things. Even if it is somewhat inflationary, increasing economic equity is simply more important to holding togeher the fraying social cohesion in the US than another 0.5% on the inflation rate.

  8. Well, Ronz, count me among the millions who would absolutely LOVE to see you stunned as all hell. 😁 Here’s hoping that the jury will be able to connect the dots that are very obviously there.

  9. In the past two seasons, Goff leads the NFL in 4th quarter and overtime QBR and passing yards. He's also best in the NFL in the red zone with an 18/0 TD/INT ratio. Remove the name and his numbers stack up to just about any QB.

  10. About what I expected. I'm sure there will be a lot of haters from national media. I also think it's better to get this done before Dak and Tua which would just drive Goff's price up.

  11. My God, if Trump didn’t run his whole life and his whole business like a mob boss, we wouldn’t be here. If the 130 K had just been paid to stormy, even if it was in and out of that account that Cohen set up, everything would’ve been fine and legal. The fact that they tried to hide it, the way they and report it as a business expense when it was nothing of the sort, this is where the criminal illegality is, and is very very evident. He’s guilty, and the cross-examining by the defense can hammer Michael Cohen, calling him “liar liar liar” for the next two days - it does not matter. Everything he’s said today as far as what he did for Trump and how these hush money payments were camouflaged as opposed to just an outright payment, is where this is going to be Trump’s downfall. He’s a criminal.

  15. At the 1/4 mark of the season, the Tigers are 20-20 with a +3 run differential. That's "mid" in teen speak, "meh" to a 30 year old, "mediocre" to a 50-something, and "gee whiz, time to pull up your socks" to a 70 year old.

  16. PS: On Tork's 2020 Draft: 1. Torkelson 2. Dingler 2B (comp) Daniel Cabrera 3. Trei Cruz 4. Gage Workman 5. Colten Keith UDFA: Wilmer Flores Trei Cruz & Workman appear to be making a bit of a move upwards with their hit tools. Gage obviously moreso than Trei. The only real laggard at the moment is Danny Cabrera and he was supposed to have a great hit tool which hasn't panned out. Aside from Tork's struggles... there is still a lot of "potential" (dirty word, sorry...) coming out of this draft. On the whole...

  17. I don't recall this, but it sounds like something I would say 😄 After all, I'm the one who wanted Ivey even if we got the #2 pick because of the tantalizing upside of guys with athleticism. Now, I have his name in the trade machine more than any other Piston player. The Lesson: The draft is a crap shoot. You can get Wiseman at #2 and Giannis at #15. The only thing I can say for certain is that the Pistons haven't developed a pick since Tayshaun Prince. Time to look for a new player development team while you're out there looking for a new PoBo, GM, Head Coach, and scouting team.

  19. Speaking as someone who is getting back into golf this year, I feel your pain. Trying to get 4 people to agree on a day, time, and course is almost impossible. Even when you do there is a good chance someone is going to cancel last minute or try to change the plans that work for the other 3 people.

  20. I used to listen to this "the South will rise again" talk while I was in the Air Force and I would always say. "Yes, that is why all the strategic air command bases are in the North" (which isn't technically true but the ICBMs are).

  21. oh man that's the worst. Anything involving multiple people. We are going through it. A cousin has a medical issue that will deteriorate and she wanted all the cousins to get together. A person took charge and found a place in Georgia. A tad expensive but I'm ok with it since it's for our cousin and I won't miss that money in 3 years. Booked our flight, got our car.... now the person in charge is like "Well they aren't giving us the discount and I know some people thought it was expensive.... what if we all met in December instead in Michigan?" Then you have a bunch of other cousins saying "yeah, that's good" and others saying "We can't guarantee our availability", blah blah blah. Just a cluster. it's my wife's cousin so it's all the females handling it. I told my wife to tell them "We will be flying into Jacksonville that weekend to go somewere... if anybody wants to join us they are welcome to"

  22. FWIW - there was one story that said the thing he did to his shoulder sliding into the base was going to take 2 yrs to heal "completely", so possibly a continuing deficit there - at least coming into this season.

  23. That's what I thought too, they basically traded places. There was something about Keith that they didn't like at third, but everybody seems satisfied with him at second.

  24. Stop. Gobert isn't half the defender that Ben was.

  25. Yes, I don't want hear excuses. Keith isn't hitting the ball hard like he supposedly did in the minors. I thought one of his best assets was supposed to be his power.

  27. The lottery is what it is. This franchise isn't an abhorrent mess because of ping pong balls or frozen envelopes or tin foil hats. This franchise is a complete dumpster fire because its front office is only two qualified clowns short of a circus.

  28. That's not really accurate, he's below MLB average in both GB% and PU%. He just hasn't been making solid contact and hitting the ball regardless of the hit profile.

  32. I am once again reminded of one of my pet peeves, while trying to plan a vacation. I asked people to let me know 1, what kind of lodging they want, and 2, how much they want to spend. The answer ranged from nothing at all, to "whatever you decide is okay with me." I'm guessing you can guess what comes next-I choose something, and all of a sudden everyone has an opinion (generally that everything about my choice is wrong). Now the prices have gone up, and it looks like it's too much now. I should know by now to plan my own vacation, and then whoever wants to come can join me.

  34. Not going to lie, a foreign war that doesn't involve the US and has significantly fewer casualties than other foreign wars currently ongoing does rank very low on things I care about but these Hamasholes in the US want to sabotage our democracy and are just using it for their anti Israel Jew hatred.
