  1. I have no problem with barriers to firearms ownership based on your mental state and stability. The least thing we need is to have firearms ownership defined down even further than it already is. Personal liability Insurance requirements seem like a really sane thing to enact.

  2. Franyerber shows up on Baseball America https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/analyzing-10-standout-complex-league-prospects-so-far-in-2024/ Franyerber Montilla, SS, Tigers (175 wRC+) One of the early favorites of RoboScout, Montilla has been a standout for the Tigers’ FCL squad. In 22 games, Montilla is hitting .346/.481/.556 with just as many walks as strikeouts and underlying data very much backs his performance. Montilla shows strong plate skills with a 13.4% in-zone whiff rate and a low chase rate of 16.7%. On the face of it, those numbers showcase excellent bat-to-ball and pitch recognition skills. Like with Sanchez, Montilla’s 90th percentile EV (102.7 mph) is above-average for his age, and he shows the ability to consistently elevate the ball with a 58% fly+line drive rate. Montilla shows a well-rounded profile at the plate and is one of the more exciting players in complex play.

  3. I think some of them just are not that good and Keith was brought up too early because of his contract. The big disappointment has been Torkelson.

  4. My two Sunday night radio shows will be airing their 1,000th episode this Sunday. Never aired a rerun, never missed a show since April 24, 2005. Under The Radar 7-9 - We'll be playing a track from my Pick Of The Year albums from 2005-2023 and a few from when I had other similar shows before this one Sonic Bliss 9-Midnight - I will be counting down my 37 favorite chillout tracks (Trip Hop, Dream Pop, World Grooves). Couldn't fit 40 songs in 3 hours. annarbors107one.com (107.1 in Washtenaw, Western Wayne and SW Oakland county) thisisqmusic.com (94.5 in Grand Rapids/Muskegon and a big chunk of West Michigan) Can't believe we've been on for 1,000 weeks !

  9. They just called up a top ML pitching prospect. Do you really want the Tigers to face him? The outcome is somewhat predictable.

  10. The MLB app on my phone is annoying because it’s always informing me about what better teams are doing to stock up for their pennant runs. I really miss the days when we ran with the big dogs and got used to walloping trades and free agent signings occurring. Not to disparage him, but hoping that Riley Greene can at least raise his batting average above .250 just isn’t the same. I’d always expected more. And getting excited about role players coming up and exceeding initial expectations just isn’t the same. It’s good but not the same. Damn.

  12. It was reported at the time that they wanted Clark, in part, because they were able to get him under slot which gave them a little more money to be able to get McGonigle over slot with the second pick. It's also, possible that they thought Clark would have the better career even if they had to wait. .

  13. Just for the fun of it, these are the hitters with batting profiles most similar to Kerry Carpenter. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/affinity-pitchersAndHitters-byHittingProfile#players=hitters&player=681481-L&s=0.7

  18. Given how Ilitch was willing to spend after 2021 when Avila convinced him that we were ready to win, I really doubt that he is instructing Harris to keep payroll low first, and make everything else subservient to that imperative.

  19. I don't think platooning was the issue in this game. 4 runs on 1 swing. Key errors by Kreidler (a SS playing SS) and Rogers (a C playing C).

  20. Aaron Judge hit another HR today to give him 25 on the year and a projected 59 for the season. His current 217 OPS+ would project to be the best non Bonds MLB season since Mantle in 57. If he were to finish the season at that number he would join Mantle, Ruth, Bonds, Williams and Gehrig as the only MLB players ever to have a full season that high.(Soto hit that number in the COVID year of 2020) I hate to say this about a member of the Yankees but it almost feels like Judge has been a bit underrated when you factor in the historical numbers he has posted the last few years. He is putting up numbers that only Bonds can match in the last 60 or 70 years. Legit historical stuff.

  22. And we didn't sign JD Martinez because they didn't want to tie up the DH spot. At least, that was their excuse for not signing JD.

  27. In front of that Greene lead taker was a misplay by Washington SP Parker on a humble dribbler to the mound from Ibanez. A sure out that was fumbled something awful. Then get to Greene’s at bat and he pops one into LF foul territory that he assumes is an out, but the net catches and it falls harmlessly to the dirt. This was the pitch before his thunderous drive to the wall. Nobody wants to believe it, but sometimes the Tigers do get some fortunate breaks.

  36. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40275531/tucupita-marcano-gets-life-mlb-ban-betting-baseball Along with Marcano, 4 other current players with MLB experience were given 1 year suspensions. All 4 are detailed in the above article, did not bet on their current teams, and placed low wagers. It should also be pointed out all lost badly. I think this will become just as big of a headache for MLB as PEDs were 20 years ago. Not many people are going to Blink an eye at the above 5 players, not many have heard of them. But the mud will hit the fan when the first star is caught. I'm sure many players are having cousin eddy place bets on their behalf, and that could be be a bigger mess. It would not surprise me to see Duece behind all of this.
